They both are amazing. I could never pick between them. Both can sing a lot of genre. Both have amazing concerts. Of course some Carrie fans are going to pick Carrie. Just like Kelly fans are picking Kelly. It just comes down to preference. There are things one can do that the other cant. No one is perfect.

Kelly can only sing pop. Um that's false. Kelly can sing every genre, she is the most versatile singer in today's music & one of the very few versatile singers ever. I'm sorry but it's Carrie who can only sing country yeah she does a pretty descent job at rock but when she sings other genres she still has that country twang. Kelly is more versatile. Kelly has reached out to fans from different genres too. It's not like her mentor is Reba freaking McEntire who Kelly has done tons of stuff with.

WOW.People settle down. I lean towards Kelly because of her talent, saying that, Carrie is very talented. Kelly competes in a genre that has a lot of competition. POP encompasses all "pop"ular music, and Kelly is exceptional. She built idol, all winners owe her homage. Kelly getting nominated for a Grammy with Reba how can that be a smack in Carrie's face? So what Carrie has been on more magazine covers. That is because Kelly could give a rats' white you know about being on a magazine every time the wind blows. Kelly just wants to sing & write music, that is her choice not to be on a cover all the time unlike Carrie who does, so what big flippin' deal. And Carrie's #1's are on a competley different chart , they are from the Billboard Country chart not the Hot 100 (which is the most important chart out there). Kelly's are from the Hot 100. :)

Pt. 2 Big flippin' deal Carrie has outsold Kelly but only by a million, when Kelly releases her new album there's a chance she will catch up to Carrie maybe even surpass her. I can see these two going back & fourth on who's sold the most for years in the US, but so what. Let's see maybe the reason Carrie had more success in a shorter amount of time inside the US is b/c more people watched Idol in season 4 than season 1 (which many people didn't know what Idol was at the time) And thanks to Kelly Clarkson to why Idol didn't get canceled). Yeah there were some weak spots but give her a break she was in the middle of tour, sick but she still rocked it like always. They both are amazing. I could never pick between them. Both can sing a lot of genre. Both have amazing concerts. Of course some Carrie fans are going to pick Carrie. sorry you had a bad experience but everyone has bad days. i know several people who did meet her and said she was very nice. one of my friends got extra ticket to a show for her concert because it was her birthday. so yeah she is really nice often.
she is one of few celebrities that actually does meet and greet at concerts, a lot of celebs dont even do that at all that concerts like she does.

Kelly was screaming on SUBG. That doesn't have anything to do with power and range which she unarguably has tons of. What Kelly doesn't have is vocal stamina. Her voice gives out easily and singing rock-ish songs doesn't help the situation much. If you listen to this performance, you can hear her voice giving out on every other word. She's also unable to hold the notes, cutting words off abruptly. That's probably because she was touring a lot. All I'm saying is she ain't superwoman.

I judge a celeb's attitude by how she treats EVERYDAY people. Are Underwood and reporters everyday people? No. No doubt Kelly treats Carrie well, since they're both talented and famous. row759..only in your reality. But in real life, Kelly EASILY is the better singer. You can like one over the other base on preferance, but in technicaly abilities Kelly wins in every aspect. Kelly has a more powerful chest voice, Kelly can sing an octave higher, Carrie does not belt A5s and C6s. Kelly can access the whistle register, Carrie cant. Kelly can sing many genres AUTHENTICALLY and Carrie can't. She is country even when she sings songs outside her genre. There is no twang in rock.

actually in world sales Kelly has sold so far around 22 million. Carrie 10.5 million. But if you compare Kelly's first two albums to Carrie. Kelly sold 17 million for her first two, Carrie sold 10 million. Carrie doesn't sell in Europe, Latin America, S. Africa, and Asia.

no I live in Europe (the Netherlands to be precise) and I actually never heard of Carrie before I started watching American Idol auditions on YouTube, however, Kelly Clarkson is very known here!!

And do you think I'm stupid? I watched the National Anthem by both singers. Carrie owned it. Kelly can't sing it for the life of her. Check out the comments beneath the video, and you'll have your proof that most agree with me that she sang off key.

It's not about how Kelly acts on a show. It's about how she treats everyday people. She treats them like they're not as good as her.
Anyone can put on an act on a T.V. show that is viewed by millions of people. I bet Kelly does that.

No she hasn't , Kelly has sold more in us and worldwide sales. With what Carrie has sold with two albums Kelly has sold that much with Breakaway alone. Sorry but Kelly has won more awards and so what if Carrie has won more Grammmy's and besides Kelly always has next year's Grammy's to rack up some more for her. And hey Carrie has two more Grammy's than the "Queen of Country" herself the legendary Reba McEntire who's better than Carrie.

I've watched everything. Kelly Clarkson has been nominated for the inside and the outside of pop, she won peoples choice award, best artist of the year, not in pop. And anyway, pop >>>>>> Country. American idol didn't start at the start of the year when it began, it started when the year was half finished. If it started at the start of the year then it would be 6 1/2. Buut, it started in the middle, which is a half. Now Carrie Underwood won in 2005, 4 years only, I made a mistake, who cares? :P.
