Già comincian gli audaci a tremar.

  • does anyone know the name of this song? Pleas answer ASAP. HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!

  • this quintet is perfect.

  • At 3:30 until 3:45 we can hear the beautiful part of theme, that Mozart after copied and developed for the famous theme of "Queen of the night" in his The Magic Flute.

Mozart copied also a theme of another his italian rival, Muzio Clementi (from the piano Sonata in B moll major, for the Overture of The Magic Flute).

Clementi wanted always it was said that theme was his.

  • OMG I never noticed that! But I do definitely hear similarities. And when sung, there's a similarity in the feeling of the ascending notes.

  • As italian I try to defend the memory of a great composer so much unfairly damaged and underestimated (if not scorned) because of legends, that were nothing else but personifications of the reactions against italian composers' egemony in '700. ;-)

I request you to listen to Salieri's requiem: an example of rare perfection of choral composition.

  • Salieri was not absolutly jaelous of Mozart. He was an extraordinary and genial composer, an enfant prodige and at 24 became the youngest Chapel Master of history. He was the teacher of Beethoven and Liszt. Mozart himself taked lessons by Salieri in choral canto and Mozart's sons also were his pupils.

Salieri in the vocal score was superior to all composers.

His Requiem is beautiful and is comparable to Mozart's one, in which it is possible to notice the imitation of Salieri's style.

  • hmm is this downloadable from somewhere ? since it's not out on dvd yet...if someone has this recorded from tv i'd kill to get your tape :P

kill meaning pay for a copy of a dvd...

  • Me too! I'd love to have a copy. Who knows when we'll have the chance to hear this perfomed again or as regularly as other operas.

  • Che meraviglia!!!

    Grazie mille.

  • is that a counter-tenor with them??

  • Who are you talking about, Daniela Barcellona?

Does she really look that masculine?

  • yes. the officer looking man woman...

  • Well the make-up and dressing department at La Scala can take that as a compliment can't they! xD

  • this is magnificent! How could anyone down on Salieri's music? He is such a good composer! And these musicians really do a good job in conveying the meaning of his music!

  • How do you know when somebody is the star of a show? You do a wikipedia search and find that only one of the performers has a full article written about them. Naturally that singer is Damrau in this case.

  • Damrau ist wunderbar! She looks like an Angel!

  • Yay! We've broken the 1000 views barrier! This permits us to still feel privileged. No one else watches this, so it's like our own little show!

  • Hurray for this wonderful Coloratura who is not afraid to bring lesser known operas to the fore.Exceptional talent she is the once in a lifetime voice that we wait for.Together with her warmth and integrity she will become the bench mark for other aspiring singers even although she is very reserved about her ability

  • Wow! Daniella Barcelona really looks good! She looks like a slightly zaftig Italian Guy! Perfect! We have our new Primo Uomo Assoluto!

  • Perfection is the right word...perfect direction, superb music and singers to die for.

    7 minutes of ectasis...

  • Seven minutes of perfection.

    There's nothing more to say.

    :)

  • I'm most pleased to see that the genius of Salieri is being descovered once more! His music is superb, very origianl and refreshing! A true rest from those boring and unwatchable 19th century operas!

  • WOW!!! Could they have a better cast?!?!?! I want MORE!!!

  • Love it! All the performers are astounding. (Of course Damrau outshines, but just barely)

I'm enjoying discovering more and more Salieri!

As for the burgundy costume- Can you say Quidditch? Watch OUT! DAMRAU'S GOT THE SNITCH!

  • I like it...Very easy to see why Salieri did well for himself. Anything I have seen on utube is of top quality.

  • Diana Damrau is the best opera singer in History!

  • Totally agreed!

  • No kidding Ire- I mean, Lilith...:-D

I'm so surprised to hear you say that....

  • Yeah, I know it does not sound like me lol

  • i want this on dvd!

  • I love that Salieri's Operas are finally starting to come into the mainstream. Probably becuase of Cecilia Bartoli's Salieri album. I love Diana Damrau too!

  • this peace, this opera, this artists are W.O.N.D.E.R.F.U.L.
