This song is so lyrically supercharged and mind caressing that I've almost found myself going to my knees as the prophetically powerful words bathe my sorrowful soul with something akin to a psychological elixir.

If there is a god, we as a species are far too simple to comprehend it's wishes, if any. If god made us in his image, then god would be a bit ignorant, a bit selfish, a bit lustful, a bit envious, a bit gluttonous, and 8 percent gay(a reflection of the general population). This song was Elton Johns EMO phase. The visuals are excellent, the melody and riffs are good, but the lyrics are a bit pretentious. The whole "love conquers all" motif (in my opinion) is a bit sappy and a bit of a crock. Good vid otherwise.

If there is a god, we as a species are far too simple to comprehend it's wishes, if any. If god made us in his image, then god would be a bit ignorant, a bit selfish, a bit lustful, a bit envious, a bit gluttonous, and 8 percent gay(a reflection of the general population). If god exists, it's neither a male or female. The purpose of the opposite sexes is for reproduction. God doesn't need private parts to create life, he probably has a staff of some sorts.

Acronus, I disagree with much of what you said. Firstly, if God did not intend us to comprehend his wishes, then he would have never given us his Word (The Bible). God did make us in his image, perfect and flawless. Then came the original sin, and our ignorance and selfishness manifested from there. As for sex, I believe God's immense power supersedes something as narrow as our interpretation of gender.

Is it that you believe in god, or just need something to believe in? If you grew up in the middle east and were raised on the Koran, would you know any different? Do innocent people go to hell just because they are ignorant of your particular faith? The bible was written by man, and has been re-written over and over throughout the centuries. How can we know that it's even translated correctly? Just because a religion is popular, does not make it automatically correct. Just keep an open mind.

Personally, I believe in God because of personal experiences and studying the Bible. I need God, but it's not because I need something to believe in. Should I have been raised in the Middle East, I would have undoubtedly had at least some contact with Christianity. The central goal of Christians is to spread Christianity worldwide so that geological separation does not become separation from Christ. Honestly, how many of us can claim true ignorance of Christianity?

As for the accuracy of the Bible, the fact that it has been translated and re-translated over the centuries actually adds more credibility to the document. Original manuscripts of the individual books have been recovered, and time has allowed us to examine them with greater accuracy.
I've never asserted that Christianity's accuracy is derived from its popularity. Rather, I personally find its message to be pure, and its historical background to be accurate.

He speaks of love, joy and sacrifices. I don't care who you are or where you are, Elton speaks to the hardest of men and the most humblest.
We have to agree that Elton his a musical legend! He was gifted from a young age, and he carries that gift even at age 60!

I know that the follow two words are hard to see together but it is who I am spiritually first and sexually second: Christian and Gay.
Elton has been my source for hope, comfort, love, belief, laughter and joy far before I began to believe in God (took me three yrs), and even though my God bypasses anything Elton could ever accomplish for me through his lyrics, God still uses Elton to remind me of days of old.
His songs, regardless of what may say, are a source as they were for me years ago..
