  • Ths one is so cool. How did u do it. Lol awsome man

  • Actually ubuntu has been around for a while.

  • Windows is history Ubuntu is here, brilliant OS

  • Descent video, although I prefer Kubuntu myself of the 'Buntu distributions. Puppy Linux for those old PC's.

  • UBuntu 8.10 can autamatic install compiz

  • Its an open source Operating System. Most famous operating system are Mac OS X, Windows XP (soon to be Windows 7, Vista can suck it!), and Linux. Unlike the first two, Linux is free to download or you can buy a CD and only pay for the shipping costs. Open Source software are surprisingly stable and they are easy to hack so you can change the code to your hearts content. (its rather difficult for hacker to hack into a Linux base PC)

  • First off changing the linux code is not hacking in any way. IF anything it would just be editing the code to better suite you or your company and its allowed hence its not hacking.

  • From what planet are you?

  • lol um what is linux !! What a fucking noob ass tard

  • hey were do i get the moving desktop? i have searced i loooong time without any luck, i got ubuntu too, so please help me if u know :)

  • where did you get this software? Does it work with Vista?

  • no this only work on linux+compiz fusion

  • what's is name of the song?

  • sandstorm by darude.

  • then why does he use shitty camera instead of screen video capture?

  • LoL linux doesnt have screen capture to video? lol

  • in the video description it says... (This is my test computer with pretty shitty specs)

Linux does have it, wouldn't work on the piece of crap comp.

  • it have...

  • Hi, great music.. what's the name of the track???? For god's sake pls let me know... I've been trying to know the name of the track of this music since years...

  • Sandstorm - Darude

  • lets dance yaa!!

  • That's what computing really should be like. In fact it reminds me of an old Amiga I've had years ego. Primitive by today's standarts but it was magic to work with and the grapics were running smoother than PCs today.

  • I agree, it was magical the first time I installed this :-) Like the first time using a computer all over again!

  • Once you have tried it, and if you don't like it then just take out the CD and restart the computer. It's back to normal. Yes it's that simple!

Remember it gotta be a image, not data. if you don't have a image burner, download magiciso, or some other free burning program.

One last thing. Please use linux for at least a days or two worth. It will be like learning the computer all over again, kinda :P

  • Thanks for your comment, I agree!

(I think I'm trying an iMac for my next comp though...)

  • (been a while since I did this, and am a newb myself to linux)For those who would like to try linux. All you have to do is download, copy a image to a normal CD. then place the CD in your Rom, restart. It will ask to run linux, install it. it's not installing to your Harddrive! for it to do that it would have to reformat it. I do beleive. google Ubuntu. it will help. Try it for free and without screwing up the computer AT ALL!

  • We recorded this video very low tech. Used a digital camera on a tripod sitting on an ironing board level with the monitor. Too bad Youtube doesnt have the proper codecs for the camera, now the audio is off...

  • Fuck you, spam your ass!

  • oaky, what excactly is Beryl? sorry, stupid question, but I've just started looking into Linux and I don't know anything about it... :(

  • Beryl is just a program that you install on a computer running Linux. Beryl uses the 3d rendering ability of compatible video cards to redraw your screen in realtime, with very cool effects like you see in the video. It is responsible for almost all of the effects in the video except background images etc. Although allot of what you can do is just eye candy, allot of what you can do ie: cube desktop, hot spots etc are very practical applications.. check it out!

  • Simply web search "Beryl Project" and start there... however...

Unless you want to read alot on your own (my way sadly), or know alot about how to install on a Linux O/S already, you should get some help. So many tips and not enough room... Good Luck! it's worth the time and effort!

  • its ok im sticking with windows! lol oo o o o check out my video " 11 tips "

  • OR: he could just run synaptic and search for compiz fusion, which comes with beryl with no need to compile

  • how can i download beryl

    ???

  • On a newer (K)Ubuntu, just go to the package manager an install these packages:

    beryl beryl-manager emerald-themes

    done.

note: you'll need the closed source grafic card drivers

  • its ok im sticking with windows! lol oo o o o check out my video " 11 tips "

  • hell yea that would be bad ass. i never took the time to learn linux, but im comfy running xp pro lol. i know people think it sucks but im used to it, and comfy with it the way i got mine set up.

  • Let me put it to you this way:

    - Can you use your OS efficiently? Are you happy with the layout? How willing are you to learn new aspects of a different OS?

If XP works for you, XP works for you. Be a smart surfer, enjoy your machine. Maybe one day you'll have some time to spare to learn - maybe one day a distro will come out with the ability to rival most GUI-heavy OS's... but then people with foriegn names start to bicker that the very idea goes against the point.

  • try running it with dual monitors ^.^

  • Ive seen it done in other videos... It does look amazing, I've even seen one on 3 monitors in another few vids... All in all cool stuff

  • Im currently running xp. Would it be difficult for me to transfer?

  • it depends friend, I am fairly novice user, I just read and followed alot of help sites, alot of trial and error, but now that it works it's totally worth it. Find a friend who knows a little about linux, once I figured everything out, the whole process from installing Linux, to getting Beryl running takes about 90 minutes.

  • you can install Linux on a different partition and have both running on your PC. That's the way I did it and both systems just worked well.

  • Or there is a version of Ubuntu that allows for install -from windows- (and uninstall through windows Add/Remove) and runs off of one large file as the main and swap.

Or there's a LiveCD if you are just wanting to get a feel for it.

    Partitions aren't your only option.

  • its too bad about the sound delay eh....looks like some nice choreograsphy....
