  • Fantastic

  • Chemtrails !

  • Awesome!

  • rape the planet!

  • imagine how rich the whole world would be if there were no air-o-planes, cars, motorbikes, boats etc.

  • Aaron, great job! My Air Traffic Buddies in Atlanta love this stuff man. Your data visualization skills are impressive.

  • hmmi really need some cure to my loneliness

  • like the ambient.

  • good effect

  • I thought it was awesome when Adult Swim featured your projects for there bumps

  • I've commented earlier but each time I watch this again and again it becomes even more mind boggling. Great Job (guys in credits)

  • i like the liquid effect from the meta balls

  • Fascinating! I first saw this video a few years ago. I like the music.

  • It also implies the day/night time.

  • where can you download this song? ive looked everywhere.

  • It's so magic.

  • great art direction and choice of music, amazing video

  • really amazing :) was this done with processing?

  • i r give 5 stars. gj creepy :)

  • 1:54, look at Nevada. The blank spots; Area 51?

  • Perhaps...there is a no fly zone all over that base. That being said, there would be a large area that is illegal (a federal crime) to fly over, even by commercial jets. Nonetheless, there still are many flights going in and out of A-51 that drop off workers and personnel. It's no conspiracy, it's just top secret base that the gov't doesn't want spies taking pictures of. Ironically, you can get a great view of the base with google earth!

  • Not so ironic. You are giving for granted that the view pictured in google earth is the same actual sight that you would really see flying it over.

  • Hahaha, this is true...but, we will never know...unless of course you fly over and risk being detained for breaking the law. I guess I have too much faith in google images, let alone the factor that the picture is real. I don't know!

  • @Pikapal1 they say "military operation area", and that civilian aircraft are prohibited so i'm guessing something fishy is going on in there

  • @simfgta I agree, but by fishy I don't think its limited to little green men. The US always needs a secret place to test new technologies, aircraft, and weapons.

  • @Pikapal1 Yes, That is Millitary Airspace and Civilian aircraft are Not allowed to fly over.

  • @Pikapal1 Military airspace, you have several training areas out there as well as Area 51.

  • @Pikapal1 No Fly Zone

  • Is that world wide,or us air traffic??

  • it is so oddly beautiful...humans moving around like that

  • more like a cancer...it looks like a growth...and that's exactly what we are.

  • Would that be as a people (Americans) or the whole world?

  • And some people wonder why they have contrails criss crossing over their houses.....

  • Thanks Aaron, this is fascinating, beautiful and hypnotic! I found you on the NASA website for "Astronomy Picture of the Day". Thanks so much for sharing cos you've put together a piece of beauty. Great soundtrack too.

  • WHen an atc says "make left traffic" is he meaning that the pilot make all turns to the left a standard left hand traffic pattern or does he mean be on the left side of the runway on downwind? ALso when an atc says "make left down wind" is he refering to making all turns to the left or on command is he meaning keep on the left hand side on downwind. what does circle to land a different runway to land on another runway?

  • no one cares?

  • Left traffic means your turn to final will be a left turn, and probably your turn to base as well.

  • right,,,

  • May I get the song?

  • 1:27 Hawaii is being attacked by missiles

  • our world is an amazing place, you just have to know where to look.

  • Amazing.

  • I can't stop watching this. Beautiful!

  • Boy, oh boy.

Imagine all the polution this swarms cause. :/

  • You better start turning your PC off then skytreker

  • LOL

  • Very interesting and well animated!

  • hey, from another artist/animator, i have to say this has been a favor!te of mine since I first saw it awhile back...really unique concept & nice/minimal way of presenting it,,, k33p up the Gr3at w0rk;)...

    peace,,

    rob

    =][=

  • Definitely one of my all-time favorites I have to re-watch every now and then.

  • awesome! =D

  • sooo cool

  • ...reminds of chemtrail patterns.

  • Get a Type B personality, Doberman.

And FYI people who fall under Type A exhibit characteristics such as being impatient, excessively time-conscious, insecure about one's status, highly competitive, hostile and aggressive, and incapable of relaxation.[1] Type A individuals are often high-achieving workaholics who multi-task, drive themselves with deadlines, and are unhappy about the smallest of delays

  • Aviation is a complex world. It takes brains, good people, and a type A personality to work in.

  • Great video concept / production. Where can I get a copy of the song,"Unplug," by Yasuhiro Tsuchiya? Looked around, but cannot locate. Aaron Koblin has done some great work here.

  • Really great video, and the music it´s "ad hoc" to the animation.

    Saludos

  • Pretty cool but the music makes me think about a nightclub in Manhattan that you accidentally--in a drunken stupor--stumble into, only to realize that there are a lot of dudes with shirts off dancing uncomfortable close to each other....

  • Wow, that was good. Thank god I live in the Pacific Northwest so I don't have to deal with the chaos on the east coast. Damnit, people, stop humping so much without protection, PLEASE!

  • dont u wish u lived in the south

  • Where can you get this data? And what software did you use to make this?

  • I wonder if they have the video for September 11th 2001 when they grounded all of the flights. I think it could be interesting to watch all of that suddenly go away.

  • Are these heat trails, or just the patterns of where they planes went?

  • very cool

  • What's with the spider web?

  • it's suprising to see atlanta busier than NY that early in the morning, one would have thought differently ?!

  • This is pretty impressive and certainly shows how crowded the skies are!

  • props on the music

  • oh that is seriously cool

  • LOL. The Dakotas are empty.

  • stickman, its like 1 am when it slows like that, its just that there is just so little traffic you can barely see it

  • that's awesome, the flight patterns look really cool and really do tell you where the major airports are. I wish I had this kind of information.

  • FFVIII life stream anyone?

  • Why does it stop and then start again? I mean the traffic.

  • Day, Night....there are more domestic flights during the day.

  • I always thought it was just 24/7/365!!

    Thnx!

  • thought there would be more flights out of SFO than LAX...

  • dumb

  • SFO isn't nearly as busy as LAX. I used to think that too.

  • Look at a sectional, THere is soo many no fly zones around California, its all military bases, everywhere

  • There is also the Nevada Proving Grounds which is huge. I'm pretty sure it's one of those black holes by the west coast. I noticed there is another one just south of it too, but i don't know what that would be.

  • No, the population density of the west is just more centralized, with greater spaces in between cities than the east. Drive from Seattle through central California on I5 to San Diego and the try the same thing along the 95 from Boston to Atlanta and you'll understand.

  • did anyone else notice the big "no fly zone" over nevada? area 51?

  • Like virus's spreading over the globe. Or bacteria breeding in a petri dish.

  • We won't survive unless we can find more petri dishes, the only way to survive the nuclear WW3 which will occur in 2012 is to further design and evolve ourselves to survive on the surface of other planets like mars.

  • Cute idea but we have no way to get there in numbers sufficient to start a viable colony (with enough diversity in our genotypes, AND all the plants and animals we'd need to bring)... not unless we invent something like a Stargate. And even then we'd need at least thousands of them; we are simply breeding far too fast. Rocket travel is fine for the occasional explorers but we can't colonize the moon that way, let alone another planet.

  • Once we get the human genome mapped eventually we will figure out why the fetus grows. We will be able to change the systems in our bodies. No doubt we need an ecosystem up there, those functions such as air, food water and shelter could be provided by self-reproducing machines which we create that extract energy from the sun, and using the materials in the dirt to create the energy systems we need.

  • whered you buy your crystal ball? i want one.

  • naw man, I'm just pulling this stuff out of my butt. But while I'm on a roll, I also believe eventually all humans will download into something that resembles the internet (though it will be so much more than that), and humans will go extinct, but the self propagating distributed machines that replace us will be far more powerful.

  • i don't really like electronic music but , nice song.

  • I saw this on the news.

  • Scarily beautiful.

  • Very cool!

  • Wow...Just...Wow! Anyone who has traveled by plane has felt this in some way, but to see it so beautifully displayed! Wonderful job!

  • anyone know where i can download this song?

  • I'm your biggest fan.

  • The music is by Yasuhiro Tsuchiya.

  • that was pretty cool... thanx

  • cool

  • shut up mate hu are u why u watchin it if u dnt like it its brilliantly done so fuck u mate

  • thats really awesome...wow

  • what is that song playing?

  • Congratulations! You made a whole sentence that even contained a verb! That's a major achievment for someone with a pronounced sloping forhead!

  • That is truly beautiful

  • I don't know if it is reassuring or disturbing to know that someone besides me was thinking the same thing while watching this...

  • neat!!

  • cool

  • Yeah, well, that's life. I'm Sorry to see you don't have a better view on Aviation and the help it's given the U.S., Britain, and numerous other countrys.

  • mr. serious, i don't think u get the point, it's just cool, it's not a negative thing

  • I posted that in reply to viewingoncamera. Not to amadeus7206. ;)

  • kool art work bro gj and nice song choice definately will win au an A in any college art course

  • ViewingOnCamera, you seriously need to log off.

  • always has to be at least one negative comment...go you

  • dude that was so cool.

  • Wow!

  • Neat video. I go outside at night and can sometimes count over 25 planes in the sky. I live in a very rural area of Ohio.

  • fucking beautiful...just like watching an ant hill

  • Oh and awesome choice of music my friend ;)

Interesting concept, executed and presented in a spooky and mildly artistic fashion. Although it is best to no manipulate the images too much.

  • impressive. :)

  • yikes

  • Ahhh, the human virus moving around its host...

    Beautiful and scary. Nice work.

  • Awsome!! more like this please.

  • COOL

    AND

    INTERESTING

  • woah tight

    This is really cool!

  • Nice

  • all that was was a buch of lights????

  • Only thing i found interstin was the flaming music!

  • ...?

  • This would be weird if it was really a death threat to aliens. lol

  • i dont understand how that can be awesome..

  • Well it makes you see how the world is a big organism

and how tiny we are, I mean these little dots are big PLANES, and you see it all like observing god

  • really cool.

  • Nicely done, all credit.

I know it's not quite the point, but it would be interesting to see the patterns made by all internal flights in Russia, say - where was this data available, anyway?

    Top class

  • awesome!!

  • garbage, i hated it

  • How amazing?!

  • Amazing.

  • wow.

I mean, I'm kinda lost for words...

    Just wow!

  • I don't get it... Do I need some sort of world empathy skills?

  • Best piece of media I've ever seen on the internet. Thank you for posting.

  • cool

  • Wow. Weird. Would be fascinating to see 11 Sept. 2001 of this.

  • Brillient and frightening at the same time !. What on Earth is man playing at ?

  • Wow, I had heard that 60,000 people a hour are over the USA. I guess it's true.

  • Great Music and Video

  • cincin3

nice art... but green house gas emission..think about it.. cool

  • i didn't see this as a promotion of air travel, just a creative look at a fact of our world.

  • trippindicular

  • Wonderful video, amazing ! Could you tell me what is the music played in the vid please. thank you.

  • once more a stupid video has been put on youtube

may God have mercy on your soul

  • alot of flighs to florida..

  • If only the Wright brothers could see this video

  • coolo

  • que pastel ....so stone

  • cool

  • A plus

  • mmm to bored i got sleep with this video

  • Like a sleep machine. I think there's so very much to do with this concept: Man's colonization of the planet, city roads, marketing booms and busts, the eroding and re-coursing of rivers, etc...

  • Its funny how ppl post stuff just to start stupid shit, whatever. All in all though wonderful work! The work that air traffic has to do just to keep this running everyday is amazeing and you helped show that in such a beautiful way. Props.

  • LoL, did you see the text in the vid that said it was taken from a public government webpage? Fuqwitt.

  • LOL
