Yi is a solid player. I like his competitiveness. He looks like he won't back down from anyone. If Yao had his attitude, he would be dunking over dudes.
Yi can play, because the man can block shots and the guy has shooting touch, but is not so high on his cog to be simply knocked over. I'm impressed so far this season. I got him as a late, late draft pick, just for S&G at the back end of the bench.
I think that last shot means a lot more than people will think. I like the way you could see how hard he fought to get that ball. He REALLY wanted that shot. I think it could be indicative of his drive and competitiveness. You need a certain amount of drive even to become a big star in your own country. He played a solid game against the Bulls today. I think he's going to be really good once he adjusts to the NBA style of play, especially with that silky jumper he's got.

I think it's too early to judge. Summer game' performances don't mean much in the actual NBA games. Yi has got much to learn, just as Yao did when he first started his career in NBA. Current NBA players who have Yi's skills are not in the minority and he certainly have no height advantages over the other NBA players.
Enough said, I do hope that Yi will do well in NBA in the coming season.

He made a nice bank shot, but he was being boxed out and out-maned by someone who's much shorter and much lighter than he is. He needs to bulk up. Going up against players in the summer league, which are primarily bench and young players, is different from going up against the Shaq's and the Duncan's of the world.
I hope the Chinese govn't will stop this, they don't want to play for the Bucks BS. This could be the single biggest mistakes they could have ever make. If I am the Bucks I am either going to try to move him for equal value or say the hell with it, if you ain't playing for me then you can forget about ever comming to the NBA!

hopefully his chinese club will get their head outta their asses and let him come over to develop his game against nba competition, can't believe they tried to feed us that bs about them being concerned about his playing time... even if it was true just going agaist these guys in practice and having the condtioning coaches around will help him more than if he stays in china.

bosh is a great comparison. i hadn't seen yi play anyone other than the 6-foot coach they always showed him posting up against. he's more physical than i thought he'd be. he definitely has ability.

come on, no way, this is summer league we are talking about. anyone can be good when people are playing loose, and there's not many big time players. Wang zhizhi played for chinese team too, he scored more than yi, and got more rebound. but is wang played for nba? hell no. so don't even compare in the same sentences with proven players like chris bosh or paul gosol.

bosh and gasol took their teams to nba playoff. and this is no where near the intensity of nba. don't tell me you think yi will do as good when he plays duncan, stoudmire, howard, boozer, bosh, wallace....etc. bosh is proven cuz he scored when playing tough opponents. and yi is just some guy who got dunked by rudy gay.

just checked out his summer league stat, shooting poor % than wang, not even 30%, grad 4.4 rebounds per game. he can't be a SF, cuz he doesn't have ability to shoot 3 pointer, while wang jacked up 5 per game. think who he would play against, and tell me duncan, stoudemire, howard, boozer, garnett, or bosh can't guard him

rosadina, i don't think you understand the game. if nowitski plays like regular power forward, do you think he has the ability to score inside regularly? he's good cuz he has the ability to shoot from outside, yi can't. he didn't even jack up 1 three pointer. and his shooting % is horrible. so, it tells us right now, he can't be a tradition pf, he can't shoot 3 nor have consistent shooting touch like nowitski, he can't grad rebound, he can't play defense. overall, he's not ready

he's not ready, and right now, ppl in milwaukee know there's unknown chinese player who doesn't want to play for them, he thinks milwaukee is not good for his future "business plan". keep those in mind, what do you think mgmt, coachs, players, and audiance think? do you think they will give the support he needs to develop? don't get me wrong, but remember who piston drafted 2nd overall? a young kid with a promising future. darko milicic. and did he turn out to be the player they think?

Im sorry, Yi was a horrible pick, I was so dissapointed who the Bucks passed up. Al Thorton(FSU) Julian Wright(Kansas) Brandon Wright(UNC) Corey Brwewer(FU). Not picking one of these guys was just a mitake...Not saying Yi is going to bring nothing to the team but it just wasn't a solid pick.

I think it's too early to judge. Summer game' performances don't mean much in the actual NBA games. Yi has got much to learn, just as Yao did when he first started his career in NBA. Current NBA players who have Yi's skills are not in the minority and he certainly have no height advantages over the other NBA players.
Enough said, I do hope that Yi will do well in NBA in the coming season.

no need to compare yi with yao. 2 different types of players. Yao is one of the few remaining true centers in the game today. and Yi is an all-around multi-position player that nellie will love. too bad the Warriors can't get him. hopefully, Wright to the bucks for Yi straight up.

He made a nice bank shot, but he was being boxed out and out-maned by someone who's much shorter and much lighter than he is. He needs to bulk up. Going up against players in the summer league, which are primarily bench and young players, is different from going up against the Shaq's and the Duncan's of the world.

I hope the Chinese govn't will stop this, they don't want to play for the Bucks BS. This could be the single biggest mistakes they could have ever make.
