  • Do you really need that fancy doo dad engine to haul firewood?

  • @cobrachoppergirl That's funny! I have another truck for that ... this one hauls azzz. !

  • wow nice everything im not big on thoughs rear light but 10 stars for you

  • Dude, I LOVE how you did the dash and gauges! I want to do mine like that!!!

  • Thanks a bunch! GMC4x4z It's a lot of work but with a little time and elbow grease, it's not so bad. The end result is worth the effort!

  • You are correct that the cam has something to do with it. There are others elements as well like the air/fuel ratio, timing, and engine temperature on mine. It seems to smooth out after it warms up. An engine builder could probably give a more accurate explanation.

  • its from his cam. the cam i got in my truck makes the motor sound like its goin to die.

  • i have a question i dont really know much about the technic in those engines but why is the idle like whooooomwoooooooomwhooooooom? and not a just solid wroooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooommmmmmmmmmmmm ? ^^

  • Scream blower SCREAM!!!

  • @qwyktruk I like that dash, I have a 66 C20. Did you replace the entire dash, or just do some fancy sheet metal work on the original? Looking to do something like that with mine.

  • Thanks Chris9450 . Original dash with some plates welded in and some bondo to smooth it out. Covered with material and a logo stuck in underneath. Pretty simple, just time consuming. I also made a drop down door under the pass side where the fuse block is mounted next to the MSD box. Out of site and out of the way of footroom.

  • that looks like a tim allen´s tuck!

  • nice love the sound

  • NICE TRUCK !!!!!

  • @burnnc10454 - Thanks much!!

  • How much horsepower it putting out? 750?

  • @patwwe The engine numbers were 815.3 Tq @ 4600 rpm and 881.1 Hp @ 6000 rpms. That was a fresh motor and no intercooler. Good numbers for a (street driven) small block...lol Since then I have added the intercooler and dialed the motor in with air bleeds and timing. Numbers should be better! getting things ready for a chassis dyno to get rear wheel numbers.

  • @qwyktruk Damn that's quite a bit more than I was thinking. Wow I'm surprised it's actually street driven, you could take down any Ferrari haha. Nice to see someone treating their truck :D. Great job dude! What do you have as the rear axle by the way? Plus any NOS? Good luck next dyno test though!

  • @patwwe It's a Ford Nodular 9" with 4:10 gears , 31 spline Dutchman axles and a Moser Through bolt billet center section with a 1350 billet yoke. I've had that set up for years and never a failure...

As for Ferrarri's - there are some real fast ones out there.

No Nitrous - can't keep it hooked up as it is.

  • @qwyktruk Thanks for information dude, more than I asked for thanks :D. That's good no failures, speaking of so, have you ever seen any of these type of trucks with a Dana 60 rear? It seems with all the blown engine that would be a good idea... Haha I would be willing to bet you could kick any Ferrari's ass! All engine huh? ;)

  • can u put a blower on a 10-1 compression motor without doing damage to the motor?

  • Hi mikewashere01,

Your best bet would be to talk with an engine builder who builds supercharged engines. You probably could run a blower with 10:1 but it just limits how much boost you can run I would think. You might be able to run the blower at 1:1 or under driven. I've always ran 8:1 compression . There are just too many variables to consider

  • If u were to sell it how much would u sell it

  • 5756 - contact me if you are interested at - my user name here at g mail dot com

  • Did you do the one peice window yourself or is there a kit out there for this one. I have a 65.

  • hulk625 - there may be a kit available but I did the windows about 10 years ago. It was a lot of work but worth it. You might wanna look over at the 60-66 chevy truck forum for more info.

  • Do i hear a rod knock?? what is that knocking sound?

  • Hi - the5445 , There is definitely no rod knock. Not sure what you hear but it could just be the hi-helix blower internals or the valves closing - has a pretty high lift cam. It is all aluminum too so sound may travel throughout more. 4" stroke. 6" rod, Big cam... who knows!

    Thanks for looking!!

  • @qwyktruk True. haha When I first heard it I had to re listein to the video! I thought maby it slipped a bearing I didn't know. But now that you said it I think it is the sound of the valves closin

  • @the5445 - Thanks again and nice boat!! I checked out your page...

  • must be nice

  • wow really clean looking truck. Good attention to detail. In my opinion id prob de-tune it to make it a daily driver.

  • Thanks thtsjon4u ! That is my plan in the near future if i can't sell it or trade it first.

  • wow i run 114 when i spray it with 200 of nos we pay last year $3.73 a litrer so like 14 dollar a gallon but on the street i can run 94 octane. For automatic1237 my best 60 foot is 1.47 sec wheels up hoping for better kept blowin off the tires.

  • did ya make a 1/4 mile pass yet ? what did it run

  • Hey roadman691 . Still haven't made it to the track yet. 118 gas is now 15.00 a gallon. Have been doing a few things to the truck to get it to run on lower octane and trying to decide whether to sell /trade or just keep it for another 13 years...lol

  • so does anyone kno what the 0 to 60 time is for one of these standard, my friends been talking about what a beast his truck is but i mean, that things gotta weigh a hefty sum right?

  • automatic1237 - no idea on the 60ft time but these trucks weigh around 4000 lbs.

I guess each one could vary depending on modifications... it takes a lot of torque to get that much weight moving quickly.

  • Im fixing up a 69 man. I hope my truck is half that good when Im done.

  • =O !!!!!!!

  • very nice what are the numbers on the dyno

  • Hey rjc862003, Thanks !! The engine numbers were 815.3 Tq @ 4600 rpm and 881.1 Hp @ 6000 rpms. That was a fresh motor and no intercooler. Good numbers for a (street driven) small block...lol Since then I have added the intercooler and dialed the motor in with air bleeds and timing. Numbers should be better! getting things ready for a chassis dyno to get rear wheel numbers.

  • holy shit man.. this thing is GORGEOUS!! i love all american muscle, even though ive only owned mustangs, none of which i still own, but i must say, that the mid 60s to early 70s Chevys are the best looking trucks of all time as a street machine, wouldnt be my first choice if i were building a 4x4, but as a MEAN low Fast Street monster? this is a dream to me.. Congrats on having one of the best looking trucks around my friend

  • Thanks alot IRONSEAN7 Kudos much appreciated!!

  • ur truck is really nice!awsome engine also.need some of ur input. I'm about to drop some $ into my 66 long bed.has a v8 not sure if its 327.(most likely).want to make 400hp w/ no forced induction.can i make it w/ having no major problems?plan on suprchrg in future & try over 500.do u suggest buyn a bigger crate engine or build off what it has?

  • such a sweet piece of machinery. i hope to complete my tribute to my late brother as good as this well done its sex on wheels mate.

  • kingsalami69u - Thanks for the kind words! Good luck on your project .

  • Love the wheels w/ spinners. My favorite "look" for wheels

  • Demon carbs ftw...

  • Where did you get those tail lights?

I love the clean look of the rear end

  • Hi zuesisgod777 !! The lights are out of a '88 Sedan DeVille...turned upside down to kinda match the curvature of the bedside. It was 13 years ago when I first finished the body work and was kinda popular back then. I still like 'em ... ;-)

  • very nice everybody told me i was crazy cuttin the driprail off my 66, but seeing urs its very clean!!!

  • Hi emptypockets5555 . I was told the same thing !! I too like the look but it is an awful lot of work, so be prepared if you are going to remove the drip rail ...

  • @qwyktruk trust me i already found that out, and i hate body work!!!

  • Digging the simplify of the dash, was it hand made or someone makes them? I like the look of this truck, take care of it.

  • Hi amanofgreatevil . The dash is stock but welded and filled to create the smoothe effect. I just laid a Chevrolet insignia under the padding . Then I built a console to house the rest of the guages. Too many guages...lol Thanks for the kudos...J

  • Overkill?

  • duffin208 , is that a bad thing?? Actually it's a result of constantly upgrading over a 13 year period... 5 motors, 2 trannys and a bunch of other parts got the truck to where it is !

  • @duffin208 over kill? is having 5 million in the bank over kill? NO! havin these kind of toys is fun

  • Whats the diet for this bad ass Chevy 1 ford in the morning 4 hondas at lunch a smart for snack and 5 toyotas at dinner.

  • @backyardbikes - It just eats 118 octane race fuel... too many carbs in the ricers!!!

  • Such a shame that our speed limits are 70 mph. We need an autobahn bad!! SICK TRUCK!!!!

  • 8 or 10-71?

  • undercoverLsX it's an 8-71 hi -helix with 18 pt teflon stripping

  • chunky

  • hey dude im bobs grandson bob montgomery and u have gotten me to like trucks im lokin into 66s and i found a perfect one thanks man ur a hero

  • Hey qwyktruk...I finally found myself a 66 short fleet. I'm pretty excited, although it probably will not ever be as nice as yours.

  • Congratulations! It has taken me many years and lots of money to get the truck where it is. You just make yours unique and enjoy it!

  • dam must you tees.... haha I got a 82 chevy s-10 with a 350 swap in it. bought it 4 $800 cash been working on it for months...... im just starting on it though.... your truck looks like a beastly mother! once i saw the blower and the supercharger on that my jaw dropped! how fast are you running on the track if you dont mind me asking?

  • Haha teenrocker162 . No teasing, just sharing a video or 2. I bought my truck 13 years ago for 400.00 It takes lots of time and work so keep at it. Not allowed on the track due to no door handles and no cage.

  • man it has to give ya a chubby

  • Yeah, guitarist420327 when I'm driving the truck, it causes perpetual wood!

  • what cam u got it idels like a beast waa waaa waaaa waaaa awawwwwaaaa

  • i wantz a big motor for my 64 c10

  • Nice truck. I like your dash. How did you make that?

  • Thanx k2mslskier . Welded up the cluster opening and glove box and radio, smoothed it out and covered it with foam and synthetic leather. Put the Chevy insignia under the leather to break up the flat surface there. It was done many years ago when having a dash full of gauges was in. I did it cause I need all the gauges.

    J

  • Beautiful pickup man. Like the look of the bike in the background too. Awesome garage. Looks like heaven in there man.

  • Thanks much jazznan3233 !! I'm a clean freak...lol

  • u got to have some money for that shit shes a beutiy tho

  • thanks jenningsjayatyahoo ! I've had the truck for 12 years so it wasn't all done at once!

    I bought it as a $400.00 P.O.S....

  • Where did you get that scoop??.. Looking to get the same one for my blown nova..

    Thanks

  • yea bro get down the 1/4 looks like old 66 back in woods of oklahoma thats how we build it .........texas train wreck....

  • your god damn right boi

  • sorry oficer i couldnt see the car infront of me over my HUGE FUCKING AIR INTAKE or whever its called p.s. what is the appriote name for that thing that sucks in air lol i used to know its name i swear must be all the recent alcohol in my bloodstream lol

  • Hahahahaha!!!! I hope I never have that conversation with an officer

  • @qwyktruk well frankly im jizzing in my pants sir

  • i have to admit, i'm a nitrous person but i respect how tame blowers can make an engine sound. beautiful engine, nice job brother

  • Thanks shitfacedcockmaster8 ... I used to have a nitrous plate on the last motor .. I just like the old school blower look and sound.

  • badass hot rod i have one but mines a 64 4wd with a lift kit and a straight 6

  • Thanks for the compliment! Maybe I can "pick" your brain for some knowledge..Because It definately looks AND sounds you know what your doing :)

  • i hate domestic vehicles but i gotta say this is nice !!!

  • Thanks much!kmacdrift45

  • Looks awesome! And you have the right kind of carbs on top of it.

  • Thanks for the compliment mustangtomiata !

  • WOW Man I hope my ride looks AND sounds a sweet when its done.... I just pick up a 66 FS Long bed its my first hot rod.. 350/350 turbo,Comp Cam,steel crank, flat top pistons trickflow aluminum heads trick flow roller rockers eldelbrock intake and carb with Hei ignition

  • Sounds like you're off to a great start for your first ht rod VNSHood !!!

  • Absolutely Beautiful my friend

  • Thanks bobinchains4452 . Much appreciate the comments

  • what wheels did you use?

  • E.T. Mags Torque Thrusts !!

  • Hey what kind of wheels are those you have on? what size i am looking for some like those..are they 17 or 18?

  • Hi joel- they are 15x15 rears and 16x9 fronts

  • Nice

Thats a tight ass truck..I have a 61 stepside apache c10 just undecided on wheels right now..

    what brand are your wheels??

  • Thanks Joel! The wheels are E.T Torque Thrusts

  • I dont know Whats I like better.....the truck or your super clean garage!

  • Thanks!! Kids are grown and gone! Makes it easy..haha!

  • gorgeous truck, would love to see a vid of a drive by :-)

  • hi musicman5440- I am about to order the vacuum pump and once that is received and installed I plan to do a couple vids.

  • MaidenVoyage edited_0001.wmv

Don't know if you've seen this but soon after I get the new vacuum pump installed I plan to make a better one.

  • how much money did you spend on mods to fit the engine?? I'm tryin to do somethin like this to my car (02 blazer xtreme) they look roughly about the same size

  • many years ago a 69 camaro front clip was installed and that made it easier. The mods aren't that drastic. Headers were the biggest headache ! Good luck.

  • That sir, is a very nice truck. she looks good and sounds even better.

whats your best time in her?

  • Thanks miniTRUCK3RS. Haven't run it on the track. No cage or door handles so they won't let me..

  • That sucks. I bet it'd pull some impressive numbers.

  • Cool truck 100%! Who cares if it surges alittle.....its a bad ass street machine.....So,ITS ALLOWED!!!

  • Thanks superprojoe. I think the same...

  • lol....yeah i know its a rail...clown...lol

  • Boss truck...vibration is minimal...that mean engine balanced right...no vacuum leaks...all cylinders are firing...no head leaks...sweet work

  • Thanks for noticing. It took a looong time to work the engine combo out and although it has lots of power it's very manageable until you stab the throttle. Then all hell breaks loose.

  • all hell broke loose when this vid started ha ha ha.words cant explain how nice this is....blood and sweat probably does huh ?

  • when engine idols up and down....throttle plates need .060 hole...hole increases air at idol

  • Yeah, but I'm still messing with the airbleeds. Some fluctuation is just going to happen with the hi helix blower and the huge fuel demand this motor has. Its actually minimal compared to some Ive heard. Thanx though!

  • awsome truck!!! that is a beautiful engine!! thumbs up!!!!

  • Thanks much!!

  • nice piece

  • Thanx roadman. That truck of yours scoots!! Nice vid...

    J

  • Wow nice fuel lines.....umm not to be nosy but im stating to learn about engines and performance and i was just wondering what would it be good to put on my engine i got a 82 chevy but they told me that its been swapped out with a 350 off a camaro and i was wondering what can i do to make it haul ass and yet keep it street legal.....(dam cops take the fun away) lol if you dont mind telling me i like your work? if not its cool love the truck though =) respect.

  • man you have yourself a garage i'd dream of.

  • Thanks! It's just more to keep clean...lol

  • lol nicee.. im just building up a 454 at the moment for my brothers nova haha.. but tht sure would make a hell of a show truck.

  • Thanks D !! I've had the truck for 12 years and never planned it to be a show truck as much as a go truck...lol

  • how much did that engine cost?

  • With all that it took to make it work correctly , it was over 30k ...then there was the fuel system and the additional cooling system loop for the intercooler. Oh, and the $10. a gallon fuel...lol needless to say it doesn't get driven much

  • HOLLY SHIIIT !! thats badass Truck .. 10 points Man !

  • Thanks Q8 !!!

  • yeah the B&M works great! I have it in my race blazer!

  • Got the B&M megashifter? Awsome!

  • Yeah, I've had that thing for a looong time! works great!

  • wat cfm are those demons

  • hi gearhead- those are 850 Mighty Demons that have been worked over by Hekimian Racing and have the biggest jets avail. With the fuel demand from the motor I had to run huge fuel lines for the whole system

  • cool man il bet that was a pita

  • bad ass

  • thats badass!

  • Nice truckkk...Put the camera down and drive that damn thing already!:)

  • very good work man. needs bigger cams though.

  • hey thanks for the compliment. There is only one cam and it's as big as I want to go for the application. It was ground specifically for the vehicle weight, gears , trans and motor internals and with the 23 degree heads it's about max. I also have 1.6 and 1.7 shaft rockers so that was a consideration on the cam grind as well. 900+ hp and 800+ tq is ample for a small block don't ya think?

  • omg a small block with 900 hp? wow that is alot. but may i ask why is your idle so high?

  • Actually it's right about where it needs to be. Much lower and it shudders when in gear at idle. The blower is overdriven and it lopes pretty good. The idle speed is 1200.

  • what rear end gears do you have and is is posi? GM or Ford rear?

  • Hi freako, I'm running a Ford 9" with a Moser thru-bolt center section, 31 spline axles and 4:10 gears (locker). I had 4:30's and it was too much for street driving.

  • Its so nice the track doesn't deserve to see it.

  • eatin Fords crappin Dodges

  • have you taken your truck to the track? or do you plan on it?

  • Not allowed on the track. No cage and no door handles. Stupid rules but ... My '37 Chevy ran 8.55 in the 1/4 and this truck is not quite as fast and weighs more. Best guess would be in the low to mid 10's. Just a guess though!

  • nice truck and wow nice fuel line work.

  • Thanks for notincing! most of the brackets and a few of the fitting were custom made . Can't buy 'em!

  • god thats beautiful engine

  • Thank you. It was a long time in the making to get it that way

  • i i bet it was man your very lucky have such beautiful engine like that i could never build sumthin like that you are gifted lol

  • Thanks for the nice comment !

  • no problem man

  • effen drool

  • It's the tall one. With that manifold, the intercooler and the carb spacers the motor is 46" tall from pan to carbs. Then add the scoop and it really sticks up there!

  • Is it the tall manifold or the short, I believe tbs sells two different models. Just wondering because I'm going with the same settup, just can't decide to go with the tall or short manifold, takes alittle more height on the half tons to get em poking out of the hood just right but yours looks spot on.

  • Looks like you have an intercooler but I can't really tell, also what intake are you running? I had my jambs painted on my 86 with that same scheme, then my buddy stole the Idea for his truck so I decided to go solid black. Very nice work

  • Good eye! The whole set-up is Blower Shop. The intercooler and blower are billet. The manifold was port matched and coated. There is a separate cooling system for the intercooler under the truck. I've had this paint scheme for 11 years and I've seen 2 others painted nearly the same over the past 2 years.

  • HAHAH I thought I went overboard.. That is just amazing.. WOW

  • I know I laugh at myself for doing it! What did you build?

  • damn son im very jealous of you right now

  • That's not so much lifter noise as the rotors inside the blower. When you are standing next to it, it sounds different than on the tape Crappy mic in the camera.lol

  • yeah it wouldnt be very smart to pile that on a stock motor, I hear alot of lifter noise when it warms up..005int .009exh

  • I'll bet your glad to have that sucker done. Its one bad motha! are you useing a solid roller?

  • yes, a custom grind . Pretty much all the internal parts are custom , pistons, alum.rods, wrist pins, rings, all the coatings etc...

    Thanks for writing!!
