  • Tekken is more accessible, and button mashing do work to a certain extent and there is quite a bit of flash, but that doesn't mean there isn't debth to be found or that there isn't a difference between a masher and a skilled player. VF certainly requires more just to get into the game properly.

But does that make one better or worse than the other?

    I don't think so.

  • @CrimsonMoonM Thank you for being logical, unlike most of the other people in the comments.

  • how is Qbert a femine name?

  • @UxDigzz it was a joke....or sarcasam.

  • I love tekken (don't take me as a tekken fanboy), but how much skill does this game take. I played the demo and it was pretty easy, but with the full game, is it DOA4 type skill or DOAU2 Type skill.

  • listen son I've been playing tekken since 2000 and I ditched it for virtua fighter because it has less juggling and is more realistic now.

fuck tekken have fun playing street fighter x tekken throwing fireballs and shit you cock suckers

  • I loved this game, it was my first fighter on the current gen systems. I truly regret trading it in, if I can ever find it for a reasonable used price I'll definitely pick it up again. Amongst sf4, blazblue and tekken 6, it had much better single player replayability. Oh well, now to move onto SCV, I hope CGR won't take long to review it!

  • i like tekken but never tried this game is it really that good?

  • I still don't get how this crap can have fans.Tekken ftw!!!

  • Comparing Virtua Fighter to Tekken is like comparing Aphex Twin to shitty homo Skrillex

  • BEST fighting game ever!

  • I picked this game up for $5. Totally worth it!

  • does any one else notice the woosh sound effect after every movement even if its slow

  • Who's going to complain for 20 bucks?

    ...

    ALOT OF FUCKING PPL!

  • Homer Simpson narrating, how cool is that??

  • I wonder if it's time for a Virtua Fighter motion picture... or at the least, a live-action serial? (Yes, I AM aware of the anime serial from the '90s... saw one episode and was left gobsmacked,)

  • Only reason I'm watching this is because I'm looking for a possible rival to Tekken, reason being because I'm sick of what the latest instalment has done. I used to have heaps of fun playing Tekken, mainly because I was good at it, and when I wasn't good enough, I could practice and build up slowly, then the latest one came along and ruined it for everyone who took the time to get good at any Tekken game by making it so spammers and lag abusers could win every time.

  • I started to get into VF with VF4 on the PS2 quite a number of years ago. Kumite was interesting and the replays on the DVD quite inspired me (Chibita was a badass). But I stopped because I didn't know anyone else who played it - it'd have been a hollow investment of time. Still, though, Sega never originally wanted there to be online play because lag would screw up frame timings, and this is a very in-depth game. I still like Tekken, though, but I'll probably get Final Showdown when it's out.

  • I got mine at gamestop today for $5 XD

  • I play both VF and Tekken, but thus brings back memories of VF3 On The Sega Saturn

  • still playing VF2, thought i'd see what modern versions are like. i'll stick to the saturn i think.

  • its like 5 dollars now online

  • I just got into fighting games recently and my 2 favorites are Virtua Fighter 5 and Tekken 6. Not sure why there is beef with these 2 games, in my opinion there 2 completely different fightng games with there own styles and techniques

  • @Stealth333 Because if i remember correctly, Tekken came out and ended up in competition with Virtua Fighter. and just like the console wars back in the 90's, Tekken became Sony's brand fighter despite the fact it was made by Namco. So it all came down to preference! I love Tekken, have done since day 1, but i also feel the same for VF, so fanboys CAN adapt but choose not to! That and i think the argument is also that Tekken still have players online and VF doesn't. but that shouldn't matter IMO

  • @megamanfan85 Thanks for the info, and i agree with what you have said !

  • I play street Fighter, I play Tekken, Soul Calibur, King of fighters, and I like this the best and so do the Japanese. It's a brilliant game, it's actually quite easy to get in and start, but years to master.

And on the $62 dollars agame, we pay about twice that in Australia, so be thankful bro.

    Love your channel.

  • @endoes07

Yeah, VF 2 was on the Saturn.

Get the Xbxo version people, it HAS online unlike PS3

  • virtua fighter is soooo underrated

  • @nixedmuts You do realize DOA and tekken were inspired by virtua fighter right? But I do agree they're all awesome fighting games.

  • @NWG256 Yeah Tekken and DOA are great but Virtua Fighter is somehow boring.

  • It takes forever for a new virtua fighter game to come out.

  • the should make virtua fighter vs dead or alive that would be cool

  • lmao i dont know why these idiot Tekken people say this game is slower? In my opinion.. Tekken is one of the Slowest fighting games i've ever played. Soul Calibur 3 and Virtua Fighter 4 and 5 are the fastest and best 3D fighting games. MK 9 isnt as fast but its definitely more fun. i gave up on Tekken after Soul Calibur 3 came out. I just tried to play Tekken 5 on the PS3... it was boring as shit and way too slow. you cant even do a damn ukemi! VF and SC are known for perfect ukemis!

  • @Sevrion

before calling other people idiots u should look at yourself, your statement is full of bullshit.

First of all let me state that I own, both King of Fighters Maximum Impact for Ps2, Virtua Fighter 5, Tekken 6, Soul Calibur 4 and SF4 for ps3.

Fastest BY A LONG Shot is KOF MI2

Tekken 6 is by no means slow i you think tekken 6 is slow it just means you completely suck at the game. I'm also pretty damn good with each game andd i find VF5 the weakest of them all gameplay wise.

  • @AlexEternalChamp Yes yes that's good n all but... I havent touched 6 because I didn't like 5. I used to play the hell outta Tekken until I got my hands on Soul Calibur 3 and Virtua Fighter 4 and 5. I tried to get back into Tekken but it was just Boring. especially after playing games like MK or Soul Calibur 3. I like games that have move than punching, kicking, and grappling. SC and MK have magic and weapons. Tekken and VF have neither. VF doesn't bore me as much as Tekken.

  • holy shit you sound boring:D

  • i got this game used for 5 dollars at gamestop

  • Good game

  • @Pr1meraEspada: Don't waste your time talking to Tekken fanboys. Most of them don't even realize how much skill this game takes. Just let them drown into their own delusional world that they're in.

Plus, I bet he can't even complete Akira's command list.

  • @Vega249 Im not a tekken fanboy, but the reason I got tekken over this is because in tekken you can fight as a panda. Enough spoken?

  • @Vega249 Virtua Fighter is for wapanese otaku fags who are too noob to juggle. :D

  • @Vega249 I've played tekken for a while, and it is surprising how many flaws it has, and the Tekken fans completely deny them. Even the old ones were pretty bad

  • It is really lame that only the 360 has online play.

  • @EkajTheSwordsman

Microsoft desperately and underhandedly throwing money around...kinda like how they have developers start on xbox, then quick-port that code to ps3 so the ps3 graphics are inferior instead of doing it the other way around, so that at best, things are equal, or at worst, the graphical superiority of the ps3 is allowed to show.

  • @EkajTheSwordsman the ps3 also has online play, and it's FREE

  • i have this game and its pure ****! the moves and combos are difficult to make, the quality is better then from tekken, but not from the new mk, the sounds of punches is ridicoules and a fight is fast over.

u can costume the girls hot, thats good, but to get money is hard, long and annoying

and u must play the training , in other games u can go directly in a battle and some of the characters are stupid and and and

i could continue like this but i dont wanna waste my time

  • @plsentername I think Virtua Fighter is far deeper, more perfectly balanced, and ultimately superior to virtually any other fighting game. But yes, its much more difficult, not completely accessible, and requires an incredible amount of skill and dedication to master.

  • @GuSz2 No... this game takes skill. So this game ain't for you, son.

  • @GuSz2 both the Tekken and Virtua Fighter series are both some of the best fighting games ever

  • Christ, Virtual Fighter doesn't look that bad lol. :D

Looks way better graphics then Tekken 6, which was a disgrace and actually better fighting game.

What came out first Tekken or VF? Since many character resembles lol each other. Sega can make a quality fighting game Thumbs up to you

  • @movmultilock Virtua Fighter came out first, in 1993, it's the first fighting game to ever use what was considered proper 3D style at the time, before Virtua Fighter, fighting games were still like Street Fighter II and Mortal Kombat I. Namco was inspired by Virtua Fighter and came out with Tekken at the back of 1994.

  • @movmultilock VF came first :)

  • Virtua Fighter = The most realistic fighting fighting game ever, always has been.

Virtua Fighter, released in 1993 was the first proper 3D fighter ever and is the foundation of later copy-cat games like Tekken from the end of 1994 and Dead or Alive from 1996.

Before Virtua Fighter, all fighting games were like Street Fighter II and Mortal Kombat I and II.

  • @Calengela I guess your right every person I discuss this game with says it's "too slow" or the characters should have powers like Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat.

  • @jsmoove7654 Well yes, this is where Virtua Fighter differs from other fighters, it's always based more on realism rather than mythic powers like Street Fighters Hadoken or Shoryuken specials or Mortal Kombat's fatalities, but apparently, in the re-made updated Virtua Fighter 5 - Final Showdown, you can customise your character to use very similar moves such as the Shoryuken Dragon punch or Hadoken fireball.. that's a first for Virtua Fighter, never before done.

  • Rip Off Ryu guy.

  • @jsmoove7654 Namco ripped off the vast majority of SEGA's Virtua Fighter characters and a few Street Fighter characters for their original Tekken roster.

  • Its good for starters:)

  • nobody beats a cheesy one liner than VF. its painted all over the game!

  • The voice acting made me laugh!

  • Hell..If I can find it cheap. I'll have to pick this up. I've Done DoA,Tekken, and soul calibur, Might as well try it out!

  • What's Rey Mysterio doing there? LOL

  • Been playing this a hell of a lot lately with my best mate who's just got an Xbox 360. I picked up a copy for £5 at Gamestation!! Classic game. Ive been a big fan of the series since the Saturn.

  • This game is BADASS.

  • i just bought this game today for 5 bucks at game stop. lol badass i think.

  • 9:36 Straight from Skate/Sammy from Streets of Rage 2/Bare Knuckle 2.

  • This is a real Fighting Game, Tekken Doesn't Compare

  • This game's graphics and art direction still amaze me. Some of the best this generation, Still. Gameplay, is of course the deepest you'll find in any fighting game.

  • Com' on, internet play for a fighting game?!

Who is so empty on the inside that he or she would enjoy playing a fighting game over the internet without the ability to interact with your opponent in real life as well?

All this online stuff just kills the soul of gaming, when it is not about single player, it is about getting together and having fun your room! Not with noname random 10 year olds.

There are occasions when this is not true, but that's not a fighting game.

  • @AMYuntold learn to adjust to reality no offence

  • @AMYuntold just because there's an online feature doesn't mean you can't play with people in your house. you can still give your 8 year old cousin a controller and beat the crap out of him if you want to, since that's more "soulful" than fighting a 10 year old kid thousands of miles away. unfortunately not everyone is lucky enough to have people to play with IRL.

  • Haha this reminds me of those 70s vintage kung fu movies with poor dubbing and weird camera angles

  • The graphics are awesome but the fighting system is far to complex so it make's it to do long combo's which is kinda retarded to say its a fighting game

  • @TekkenFan13 cause it's a fighting game as opposed to a "who can best remember the most 10+-button-combos"-game like, uhm, Tekken for example. you gotta know how to string your moves properly.

  • The game cost $7 dollars on gamestop.!

  • @crankdatable I know, I heard she got a minus score on her IQ test.

  • QBERT is more feminine

  • this game would sold more if it had online game play

  • worst voice acting EVER.

that said, VF is the FIRST and deepest/most complex 3d fighter out there(coming from a Tekken fan). If you can't see that, then you're just too shallow to see it.

  • Comment removed

  • Go Q-Bert!

  • This game is more realistic than Tekken, Street Fighter and Mortal Combat.

  • @kbick3 maybe but Mortal Kombat 9 remains a much better game than this, it is K not C idiot

  • @kbick3 Don't you mean Mortal Kombat.

  • @kbick3 its K K K K Kombat my good sir :)

  • @kbick3 its Kombat with a "K"

  • @kbick3 Never heard of Mortal Combat...there is a similar game called Mortal Kombat

  • @kbick3 Virtua Fighter is for wapanese otakus bitch. LONG LIVE TEKKEN

  • virtua fighter 5 is online.... (but you probably know that now)

  • @divotslice The PS3 version doesn't have online, the 360 version does (and it's called "Virtua Fighter 5: Online")... The 360 version is also a more recent version (Version B or C from the arcades)... I remember people going crazy because Sega promised the 360 wouldn't have online either because the PS3-port didn't, but they lied lol...

  • @Samoutuomas oh makes sense.

  • @Stryker37573 Yeah if you're only interested in only girls or highly exaggerated gore.

  • @Stryker37573 If you prefer those two, good, but I don't give a damn about it's week quotes. I'm more focused on serious and realistic fighting than sex and violence.

  • @Stryker37573 Pathetic that you would rather play those fighting games with the sex appeal and gore and violence. Me, I'm more of a simpleton than most fighting gamers. Can't blame you since you're the one that wastes your $10 on games that uses other genres for your appeal.

  • @Stryker37573 Good for you if you prefer these kinds of fighting games. As for myself, I prefer simple fighting games that don't use gore, sex, and story for sells.

  • @georgeturbo1983 If you like those games that uses too much sex and violence, that's good for you too. I would care less on those sub-genres that pleases you, boy.

  • @georgeturbo1983 Oh no, you're the one with the problem because you're butting in others' business, dirt bag.

  • @georgeturbo1983 Yeah, for interfering in people's business.

  • @georgeturbo1983 And you should stay out of people's business if doesn't involve you.

  • @georgeturbo1983 lol i respect Street Fighter for being the foundation of all fighting games..but its not really fun lmao

  • @Stryker37573 question: what is lmao, what does it stand for?

  • @georgeturbo1983 lmao= laughing my ass off..

  • @Stryker37573 oh ok lol

  • I just picked this game up today for $4.99! Awesome!

  • 03:30 - you sure you're not cold in that outfit? :) (Joke)

  • brad wong from DoA could kick that old drunk guys ass

  • Virtua fighter was one of the first games of the sega saturn ..one of my addicts this and worms ! :)

  • The world of gaming needs Sega because of all the companies, Sega is the master of campyness, from house of the dead and its hilarious audio, to virtua fighter the fighting game that had no story doesn't need one, and never will, Sega deserves a new console!

  • found this game for 2.50$ and play it more than I play tekken 6 lol its alot more simple ^_^

  • "I've got the advantage. You've go nothing!" *crazzy face*

  • I never got VF4 or any other fighting game for that matter. I try to remember the different punches and stuff but still lose to my sis mashing the buttons...

  • Nina look a like reminds me of Lee's idle stance. :|

  • I Allways play as AOI

  • whens the next vf game? its been like nearly 5 years lol

  • Sega are total idiots not releasing VF5FS to consoles. Street Fighter 4, DOAD, Tekken 6, Blaz Blue...meanwhile Sega sit on their asses publishing other people's games.

  • You should not review games, man.

  • "Fight against numerous opponents who use different martial arts and kickboxing fighting styles"

    so.....kickboxing isnt a martial art?

  • This game proves that, if SEGA would ever dare to make a Dreamcast 2 to rival with PS3, SEGA would have raped the PS3.

  • Pure bloodless violence. Aw yeah. It's so SEGA.

  • Comment removed

  • Wait, I never played a Virtua Fighter before. But there is a guy named JACKY and two characters with the last name of CHAN.

Either, I'm looking too deep into this or Yu Suzuki and Co. did that on purpose.

  • omy god the voice acting... it's so bad

  • @lolofdoom More like the lines - I only heard 2 bad voices but like 8 horrible lines

  • HD my ass! Who wants to watch this 360p shit??

  • EILEEN STOP PLAYING WIT WATER OR YOU BRING DISHONAR TO FAMILY!!

  • wish they had this online. i had this game for ps3 (still do but its dusty) but i had to stop playing because my cousin took her tv and alas i had nothin to play on. THANK U COUSIN!!!! :( i love this game and i mis playin it. i was so addicted i would wake up in the middle of the night moving my hands like i was playin it. it was so fun and i have to find a way to play it again. thumbs up if you agree

  • I am from the future and in 2010 you shall make a review of Virtua Figther 4

  • @ 1:01 lol wut

  • One of my favorite fighting games

  • one of the deepest yet one of the most underrated 3d fighter out there

  • After playing this on the 360 and PS3, the 360 version looked slightly better on my TV. I also think the 360 controller is better. Because the 360 version came out after the PS3 version, it was slightly more polished, plus it has online play.

  • LOL who cares if tekken copied virtua fighter atleast with the tekken games they try new things.. Essentially all the virtua fighter games are the same. I like virtua fighter but if they make a 6 I doubt to see anything new maybe a new character and hopefully a online mode. Which also raises the question why is it taking so long to make 6? Apparently it was in production years ago :S

  • @Fuckdog12 More like Tekken is like Virtua fighter, cause Virtua fighter came first!!

  • @rickyTraice....it's still a good fighting game when you give it a chance.

  • well,i like the thing that no boobs are bouncing alla over the place and the graphics.but this game is one of the worst fighting games i have ever played.

  • WHY THE FUCK ISNT THERE ONLINE MODE?

I wanna take on that Tetsujin guy like in gamesmaster then i can use the wafty 'LAG' to my advantage lol ^_^

  • I need to get back into this game.

  • This is a very "demanding" fighting game series; you need to think and use real tactics as if you were actually fighting. That's why Virtua Fighter is so awesome :) Every fight is intense as heck.

  • ppl dont have the patience any more for games like this

  • Sniper Woof?`.. And Looks like Sniperwulf. xD Wuhu i love this.

  • q jogo feio.a sega copio o teken vao se fude de real.a sega se rebacho muito pra copia o teken.

  • @oiyhkljhouy Tekken copied Virtua Fighter! Namco always copied Sega (SEGA made Virtua Cop -> later Namco made Time Crisis, SEGA made Sega Rally and Daytona USA etc. and then Namco made Ridge Racer... SEGA made Virtua Fighter, then Namco made Tekken a year later)

  • @oiyhkljhouy Tu perecebes tanto de videojogos como a minha avó, seu brasileiro burro. Virtua Fighter 1 apareceu 1º que o Tekken 1. Quem copiou quem, idiota? Vai estudar seu filho da puta

  • No boobs bouncing all over the place? hmm Dead or Alive 2 is better.

  • I just got this for 6 bucks, the last virtual fighter I had was for Sega Saturn lol

  • @rickyTraice haha xD I love DoA my favorite 3d Beat em Up. But.. normaly i play all beat em up :D

  • @rickyTraice VF final showdown does I suppose, bikini you know :p

  • @rickyTraice and tekken 6. most of the characters are similar to the ones in Tekken 6

  • @rickyTraice thank you for that recommendation :)

  • that rey mysterio look alike looks like ultimo dragon!!

  • VF5 has the same old and bad VF1 reacions and the velocity and gravity are so bad...they should change it and make it better cuz this game has a good potential. And change the sounds too it'd be good to see.

  • Also, on the topic of depth...the game looks plain and rather simple when you just watch it, but if you put in the time and start playing it, you'll find that the fighting system is on point and every move is reflexive and calculated. There are no explosive moves or wide range attacks the nullify any quick parries, no huge weapons, no outrageous ki attacks. It's all pin point technique that requires many hours of training that can only be appreciated by those who play it. Like baseball :)

  • What's up with this review? They're most miserable reflections I've ever heard. It's sounds like you were called in to go to work on your off day. Review something you enjoy maybe?

  • And I don't know what people are smokin, but NEITHER TEKKEN or SOUL CALIBUR are button masher games..You try button mashing in those games and you will get your ass kicked faster than CHUCK LIDDELL when he fought RAMPAGE LOL.

  • @houcklauren lol

  • The juggling in this game is just as bad as tekken, and both look totally stupid when falling characters fall like they are on the moon. No air control? no side roll away while in air? and you fans say this is the deepest fighting game? I think your only saying that because the moves are harder to do.

Soul Calibur was IMO the deepest fighting game, not because the moves were hard to do, but because SC had a factor that no other game had at all..RANGE TACTICS...like siegfried vs talim...

  • I will admit that this game looks like it has depth and balance, but that's not the most important thing in a fighter.

Hear me out. Most people's assumptions are that balance and depth are what makes a fighting game.

Thats all fine and dandy, but when your thumbs are killing you after just a short while, it's no fun. Having moves that are HARD to do don't make the game any funner, it just makes it more tedious to play.

This game has no fun factor because the movements are slow and ackward

  • @houcklauren Agreed I can't play Street Fighter my thumbs hurt and its hard to perform moves.

  • @houcklauren umm, it's slow and awkward because you're just learning the moves/system. or are u just taking a glance at the gameplay and making assumptions like a lot of people do? of course matches will seem that way since you are not used to playing and your move choices will delayed. and there are most definitely range games present, just a bit more subtle than what you're used to seeing in other games.

  • Sarah needs a new haircut..

  • Lei Fei all the way.

  • scheiss werbung bei youtube fick youtube ich geh zu myvideo...ach ne doch nicht das ist noch mehr beschissen

  • it's Tekken -5
