i just got my african grey from airport and she is 16 weeks old when i got her out she licked me or give me a kiss then said hello! she is only 16 weeks
Uno how luky u r to own a african grey??? I cant wait for mine anymore 3 days seems like hell every hour seems like a year!!! I really want my african grey NOWW sorry for being such a bitch but im dying for my gorgus parrot!!!
When i bought my grey 9 months ago, he wouldn't talk. Now i cant seem to shut him up. Even in pitch darkness at 2 in the morning he's still at it. when does he sleeps i don't know. The noise that really freaks a person out is when he does the sounds from the grudge movies in pitch darkness.
Oh he would have such a good time with my African grey Stormie! She talks and sings all the time. Recently, we had a our little dog pass away. She has been making the sound of us blowing our nose. She is talking right and beeping like him. She also makes the sound of the answering machine and phone digits like him. And she has conversations with herself too which is sooo funny! She also says "Call now and dot.com" when a commercial comes on the tv. She is more entertaining than tv!
My moms boyfriend has a African Grey who is named Grissete. It is french for Grey Female. She is three years old but can only say one word, "hello". Although she can do a series of beeps and cellphone noises. Any advice to help her learn more?
@higgahiggarofl Hehe....Because they're so intelligent, it's difficult to teach them what you want to learn. More or less, it's up to them if they will CHOOSE to learn what you teach them; but more than half the time they will learn what you didn't intend to teach and even worse when they learn something you don't want them to say or mimic!
My bird learns best through context. So if you have a particular habit or routine, the bird will pickup on those.
@higgahiggarofl Raise them as if they were your own child, baby talk them sometimes. Mess with them, tickle them even! Just act as if they were a human being, and your bound to see results. Oh and if you can maybe even take them to another parrot of the same type and see what happens. Maybe even take them to school loljk
Hmm. I got an African grey but he always bites me cause he's grown too attached to my mom. He's 10 months old. But ALL he does is whistle!!!!! And his eyes look WAYYY different.
@MiSSeZecStatiC Find an avian convention to buy exotic birds. Young birds cost the most and around $600 and upwards...older birds are cheaper because people typically want newborns.
Unbelievable stuff, Y0 YO!! PLEASE PLEASE let him listen to and learn the sound of sonar of a submarine and sound of jet engine starting.... that would be MEGA MEGA cool! Thanks.
It sounds like he likes to 'make phone calls', lol. My african grey, Bo loves to do phone calls, he picks up the beeps and has a conversation. Its too funny! And Bo is always interested in the phone.
how do you go about making him learn thing!! i going to get one soon and want mine to talk too and imitate sounds and stuff! do they just choose what they will say and imitate??
@hersheebaby18 Imitate is a surely not giving him enough credit. He learns your routines and he is sensitive to emotions and things that are out of routine. But yes, he will pick up whatever he likes and wants to learn. There are a few things we do teach him. Manners is one of them, so he learns how to say "May I have some please?" when he wants something.
What an orgasmic parrot! Love how he does a 'test tone' at the start of his act. The 'phone conversations' are classic. Best touch tones I've ever heard from a parrot. It's seems physically impossible to get twin tones from anything with a larnyx, but this little fella has abilities beyond the human voice. His emulation of the speakerphone fidelity vs. the person in the room sound is also notable. And he whisles so well. Turn off the monitor and listen to him and you'll forget it's a parrot.
That's incredible! I love how he warms up and says "Weeeeeeee" so cute. I love the phone dialing( at first I couldn't believe it was him) and the operator....soooooo funny. He is beautiful. I had to listen for a second time and now I'll listen to it again.
I totally made and "OMG!" face when I heard him do the phone dialling at around 1:40, then the operator, then you (?) going "Hello? Helllllo?" It sounds perfect!
At the beginning, when YoYo goes through his "wheee!"s, it looks like he is imitating something he loves. Do you do something with him or someone else where you go "whee!"?
We have found that well-adjusted parrots favor repeating things they enjoy doing or hearing. Given the enthusiasm and the foot lifting that happens when he says it, it would appear that "whee!" is a very fun thing for Yoyo -- either fun to watch or to do.
So, who is getting the "whee!" treatment? What's the activity?
Oh! We say "Whee" when we go on a car ride and take a sharp turn. He usually sits in between the two front seats where we wedge his perch in-between. He loves going for a car ride with mommy and daddy! He's even good on long trips as well!
He's about 9 years old and he learns what he wants to learn. He can learn a new sound just by hearing it once which is good when you want to teach him something and bad when he learns sounds you don't want him to learn. He learns best when he knows the context.
lmao you don't need an answering machine with that bird around.
