Our grandson is going through the same thing right now- with the silo and all. It's so hard to watch sometimes. Your baby is precious- how is he doing now?
@extremesoutherngal Hi, I'm sorry to hear that you and your family are going through that. It was very stressful and scary for us. The doctors and surgeons are amazing these days. Trevor is a very healthy and happy little boy now. He has a scar on his belly but that is the only evidence of his surgeries. I'll be thinking about your grandson and sending good thoughts to him and your family.
@MrWoodspoon Thank you! One more question- Does Trevor experience any digestive issues now that he's older? We want to be prepared ahead of time for whatever might be ahead. I posted a couple videos of our grandson on my channel, hoping that later we could help other families dealing with this. Thanks for posting yours!
@extremesoutherngal Trevor had a lot of spitting up and pretty painful gas for the first 3 months we had him home. I was breastfeeding him and I could only give him a little milk at a time because he would pull away crying. We would have to take breaks and help him to burp sometimes 3 or 4 times during a feeding. This decreased over time and now he shows no signs of pain or discomfort. He's doing really well with solid foods too, he has had no issues so far.
@MrWoodspoon Trevor also has an incisional hernia from complications he had with his incision after the final surgery. The surgeons want to repair it within the next few months. We haven't decided whether to have the surgery or not but I guess it's a minor procedure compared to what he's been through. I'm thinking of your family and hoping that your grandson's recovery goes as smoothly as Trevor's has. I know it's overwhelming, my best advice is to take one day at a time. They are SO strong!
