  • Frank told them to play real bad so they would build a reputation. They were a band before they changed their name & they could play ok

  • Im pretty sure they knew how to plat there instruments quite well when the recorderd there first albums. I mean "Prettys for You" and "Easy Action" have some pretty amazing songs on them, very skilled songs.

  • who the hell told ya they couldnt play...I heard that about the clash and the sex pistols...watch david bowie play d,c,g, a/minor on spiders from mars fukin simple.....just gotta rig it right and get some syllables.....kinda like rap....rap nigger music

  • Terrific fix on this . Ezrin helped but songs like Elected were written before he got there in the original group Spiders and The Nazz. These guys were talented from the start, This was no accident and Ezrin didn't create them. Muscle of Love was done without Ezrin and I love that album.

  • @Superorchestra You are so right. Elected was a spin off of "Reflected" from Pretties for You.....neat song.

  • It was several songs that got fused together- the whole first side of 'Killer' kind of grabs you by the throat.

  • Amazing stuff when I was a kid. My grandparent from Austria thought less....! Thanks.

  • Superb! thanks for posting and correcting the pitch

  • The AC killer LP is what gave Alice the rep as the orginal shock rocker, but he is more mainstream now. Funny how some one acussed of playing the devils music ended up years later on the muppet show preforming welcome to my night mare and his schools out theme for a staple commercial was so popular that people search for it on youtube to watch in over and over again.

  • Wow. Wow. wow.

  • For a band that didn't even know how to play their instruments when they started, how did they manage to come up with this highly musical, edgy razor sharp material? I would have loved to hear the conversations during their rehearsals. No one could do something like this today.

  • @audiotrax2000 Dennis Dunaway was an amazing player from the off,in fact he was a lesson in bass playing for all producers.also the guitars were the only guitarists that could make the pentatonic scale actually sound melodically catchy in commercial songs. Always brilliant. When Welcome to my Nightmare was recorded,[although a good album] the musicians playing on it sounded oh so session[Play by numbers].The guitarists he as used ever since have all been shite.

  • @reoreason Dennis Dunaway GREAT ROCK BASSIST!!!

  • @mlm6915841 right on!

  • Two bands from back in the day that were fucking incredible...Original Alice Cooper Band, and Big Brother and the Holding Company (Janis Joplin's original band).

  • @audiotrax2000 Having Bob Ezrin as producer helped a lot, & explains why everything after Muscle Of Love was inferior by comparison.

  • @audiotrax2000 I always attributed that to the fact that they came in with such a clean slate. I think Bob Ezrin had a pretty heavy hand in the composition too. Great stuff! Still stands up.

  • @audiotrax2000 this song was their attempt to prove they could do more complex and progressive material, I'd say they succeeded.

  • musical genius

  • puts stairway to heaven to shame

  • The songs have never sounded as good without them. I hope to see them together again soon!!!

  • Halo of Flies did get some air play in our area back in the early 70's. This one to me is Alice's master piece. However disco came along and rock got swept under the rug for a while. Killer in my opinion was Cooper's best work. He fizzled after this one.

  • @chest002 naw, i think killer and billion dollar babies were alice cooper's high points. muscle of love, not so great but it was better than the schools out album in my opinion

  • @zoso31196, I bought Love It To Death before Killer came out, I guess I hold it in high regards. We liked Love It To Death because it was good to listen to stoned. I think it defined the direction of the group. Yes Killer was better. I liked the Schools Out as well. Billion Dollar Babies had a different feel to it. For me it wasnt my cup of tea, nor did it get much air play in our region. Before we knew it in 75 the group ended. Zero airplay after that.

  • @zoso31196 Yeah the tide had turned by School's Out I think. There were tensions in the band, and it was falling apart. I really tired to be an Alice fan after the firing or quitting of the original band. I just couldn't. I gave up on Alice after Lace And Whiskey.

  • @GonzoGuyy: Me too. I was a huge Alice fan in high school during the 70's, but after he went solo, even when I was a kid I could tell all those studio session albums with hired players just fell flat. The chemistry was gone.

  • Very tough one to play on guitar - especially when there's no accurate tabs for it. Been working on it for about ten years and have about 3/4 of it down.

  • @taffster74 Take a look at Songsterr, the've got a good tab.

This is the most accurate one i've found, and it's not that tough. Yet, it's a lot fun to play

  • Oh God! Never heard this live till now. Always loved it though. Spectacular post!

  • Yeahhh! I agree great song..live in fact... this song is the original Alice Cooper group playing a progressive rock type of song.. Halo Of Flies..afterall it's over 5 mins. long!...Commercial songs have to be less than 3-4 min....plus it is an intricate song..

  • I would agree with that as well.

  • This is quite possibly the best composition by The Alice Cooper Band (RIP) ever.

  • @deathmetaldouglas69

    I think it is!
