@plinkymist Actually Richard wrote only 2 or 3 of their hits. His talent was mainly as an arranger, performer, and background singer. One of the best things the Carpenters did was choose quality songs to perform and record. For some reason, people have gotten where they think musicians are only good if they write their own stuff. Not true at all.

@dvinedzine she never was fat, but she had a little baby fat, a little innocent chub, and someone unthinkingly refered to her as Richard's chubby sister. That was the beginning of the end. Also, anerexia isn't just about weight, it's about control, and Karen had almost no control in her life. Her parents, mainly her mother, controled her and favored Richard, due in no way to his own fault. He loved and adored Karen. It was a terrible loss!
