  • Just noodling around playing bass, learning songs from Youtube and I remembered this. Such a beautiful film, such an amazing ending to the film. Sofia Coppola deserves an medal for this movie. So, learnt the bass to Just Like Honey in one play, now going to plump down in front of the telly and watch the movie for the millionth time.

  • apparently this movie is SHIT, according to critics

  • @opTreadstone the critics are wrong

  • @EhhhFonzie so are you, I've seen it and only my opinion counts in this world

  • It kind of doesn't look as final these days because they could probably Fb each other or Tweet each other. :P. Great film though!

  • I love this movie SO much.

  • Beautiful movie

  • Spoilers! Beware!

  • I usually tear up during this scene too. This song is just perfect for this scene.

  • And this is rated r for what?????

  • The best scene ever, a master piece, beautiful ending, just love it, thanks for sharing

  • Este video siempre me hace llorar... Por que?

  • Not a movie... is a masterpiece!

  • just like joy division

  • Thanks for uploading

  • SIMPLEMENTE PERFECTA LA ACTUACION DE BILL MURRAY, DEMOSTRO EL GRAN ACTOR Q ES,,,,UNA DE LAS MEJORES PELICULAS Q HE VISTO.,,,ME ENCANTA ESA CANCION,,,,IGUAL Q LA MIEL, COMO LA MIEL.

BILL MURRAY GIVE US A PERFECT PERFORMANCE, JUST PERFECT, HE SHOW THE GREAT ACTOR THAT HE IS,,,,ONE OF BETTER FILMS I EVER SEEN.,,,I LOVE THIS SONG,,,,JUST LIKE HONEY

  • Bill FUCKING Murray!

  • @TEHsm1th Agreed. Bill Murray owns this film...he even improvised the best lines (the ear whisper at end for example) Sofia should hand over her Oscar to Murray.

  • such a beautiful song, its too melancholic and perfect for the moment in the movie

  • Ironman ? oh, please! you're mistaking me for somebody else dear. Just let me have my own opinion, i'll respect yours. If emptiness and superficiality is your thing, then that's fine by me.

  • @DiskoBoy You`re the one commenting on Sophia`s work in a negative manner, not me. If personally, let`s say, I don`t enjoy John Mayer`s music, I don`t go and post "I hate" posts just for the sake of it. I don`t see the point. If you don`t like it, watch something else, it`s that simple. I never thought even this movie has "haters" but I guess you people would come anywhere for a little attention. Fine by me too. I`d rather spend my life surrounded by stuff I love, not by those I hate.

  • The best ending scene of all times, specially with that beautiful song just like honey, loved it, thanks

  • That doesn't make her a good director, her movies are empty and boring, reflecting someone who knows very little about real life, it's all set in neutral environments like hotels,.... really it's all about images and esthetics (which sh'es good at), but there's no depth in any of her movies, and wininng golden globes and oscars has never been a stamp of worthiness i'm sorry. And who cares about more promotion for a song that don't need any, i guess you must be american to think in those terms.

  • @DiskoBoy Part me to come in your discussion, but there are TONS of great-edited and full of great buildings, pictures movies but with no emotion in it :D That`s the key of this movie, and if you don`t like it, why don`t you go and watch Iron Man or something, and let true fans of this movie enjoy this video.

  • This movie doesn't deserve this fantastic song !

Sofia Coppola might have good music taste and cool friends, but that doesn't make her a good director.

  • @DiskoBoy It doesn't make her a good director? Really? Last time I checked Lost In Translation nominated and won numerous awards for Best Original Screenplay (written by Sofia Coppola), Golden Globe for Best Director (Sofia Coppola), Best Picture...This film has been added to every critics "Great movies" lists. Just so you know...Also, "Just Like Honey" received more promotion through this film than it did in the 80s.

  • This was my ex's favourite film. I found it pretty boring as its pretty much a girls film but got the mary chain song straight away! Now it always reminds me of her as does this scene.

  • Earth without "art" is just "eh".

    This is a masterpiece.

  • what song is this pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • @Pabhata Jesus & Mary Chain - "Just Like Honey" :)

  • The final scene where Bob (Bill Murray) is driven to the airport in the taxi is just plain eerie. I've never seen so may emotions diplayed on one face at the same time. Anxiety, fear, guilt, along with relief and determination. An absolutely awsome performance matching Ken Ogata's in Shohei Imamura's Vengeance is Mine. This film has crawled under my skin and creeped into my head. It won't let go.

  • IMHO I think that people who don't like this movie just haven't lived long enough.

  • This is what it is to be human

  • @gangasensei thanks for uploading

  • A bit sad to leave. But being grateful for the deep experience and having no regrets at the same time. That's what this scene means to me

  • unforgettable scene and this song with it

  • it's truly an excellent scene but almost ruins the movie for you if you haven't seen it.

  • The ones who don't like this movie, ust don't understand it.

    Art. Love. Life.

  • I live in Osaka and it`s much friendlier.

  • Happy 27th Scarlett <3

  • the way she say bye.. sweet. <3

  • I brought myself here.

  • ..,cool

  • It can be seen as somewhat liberating, being able to speak with another person where fewer people can understand.

  • Never felt that the film was supposed to be so much about Tokyo. Two people at very defining points in their lives losing themselves (or at least trying) in the noise of an unfamiliar place. Notice how there is a lack of proper communication outside of Charlotte and bob, not a matter of spoken word.

  • That tragic UK sound.

  • i dont know why but this film makes me feel something strange about tokyo too... People are so different!

  • thanks!

    seán

  • This movie actually makes me not want to go to Tokyo at all....maybe it's just me haha

  • @lmaeser Yes, I think it's just you. Ha Ha If you knew it, you'd do it.

  • @lmaeser well because of the movie i went to tokyo many years ago;)

  • Murray told Johansson that he knew who would win the 6th race later that night at Tokyo Racecourse.

  • I'm still looking for my Bob.

  • "I'll be your plastic toilet"

  • now i think i want to go to Tokyo.

  • I wish I was there with Bob and Charlotte

  • as two strangers could almost feel something slightly real , rise just a little above the trite & mundane to dignify that little time they had together as people ...how rare & just like honey these kinds of experiences are . Just how lost in translation we all are , living lies & memories of lies and more lies till time & the world swallows us up.

  • The British music does it.

  • Amazingly gentle touch by the director. Brilliantly cast and acted.

  • Makes me cry every time.

  • Comment removed

  • I love this movie and this song :'(

  • Is that the official translation? Because Esta bien is not a good transliteration of "a'right".

  • I reckon I've seen this film about 100 times, maybe even more,to the point where I can recite most of the dialogue off the top of my head, the actors, the settings, the story, the music, everything about the film is just perfect, this film holds a special place in my life.

  • @AllThatMakesUsHuman4 I'm not, but people have worked through bigger obstacles than that, you know... ;D

But high-five, anyway! Personally, I like to think SH3 and LiT go hand-in-hand at times (like that part where Heather wakes up in the mall, and "End of a Small Sanctuary" starts playing. The lighting, the music, the surreal urban environment... goosebumps.)

  • Tragically underrated film.

Although, we get it to ourselves. A sweet little daydream in Japan, and a deep love between to humans. Lovely.

  • @HylianSpirit You're a complete cunt.

  • @sugarydonkey Thanks for your concern. I'll live.

  • This is a brilliant ending to the best movie ever made. You see Bob going to the airport, but fades out not too long after he said goodbye to Charlotte. So you never know if he went back to the U.S.A., or stayed in Japan. I love it, it's anybodies guess.

  • me bird made me watch this on our dvd night.... she always picks shit chick flicks so 2 piss her off i spent the whole film doing really disgusting massiv farts sinsted of goin for a shit LOL she we're well pissed innit LOL!

  • To me, it is the best ending scene of all times

  • Sensacional.

  • Just got home from my first time Tokyo yestersday and missing it like mad already :(

  • thumbs up if Lost in Translation brought you here!

  • When poetry becomes celluloid. Most beautiful film ever, along with Mulholland Drive, simply unforgettable.

  • The most well-loved of my top 3 movies of all time. I've seen this 30+ times, easily.

    A masterpiece.

  • @HylianSpirit You are so right. It is a masterpiece. A wonderful film.

  • i'm in love with this movie ♥

  • great movie, me encantó la pelicula, la 1ª vez la odié, luego de verla por segunda vez se transformó en unas de mis peliculas favoritas.....Lost in Chile

  • the best love movie ever!

  • this scene can still make me tear up - lovely movie

  • bravo

  • He said you have aids.

  • I loved this movie! I love Sofia Coppola, and I think she has an incredible sensitivity ... I love her works

  • I went to Japan last year and I can't watch this movie again, because it makes me miss so much Tokyo :( this movie is awesome! because this scene it's not impossible in real life

  • esta bien

  • I think it's the best ending i have ever seen...

  • Murray was simply phenomenal in this movie, sometimes an actor gets a chance to just destroy whatever image you had of them and gain your respect even more. The things that are not said or done can be the most important and I don't think anyone else could of done it in that moment in time.

  • Truly a brilliant ending, the cinematography combined with the soundtrack is just amazing.

  • Wtf Esteban!! XD

  • Esteban Granero brought me here lol XD

  • @baloon2510 wait, what?

  • @Nimcenzo He once posted a status (3 months ago I guess by my comment time) regarding this and sharing this video so it brought me and a bunch of other real madrid fans here.

  • @baloon2510 Ahhh, thank you.

  • "Go to that man and tell him the truth, OK ?" Those are the words wispered I heard and nothing more.

  • @tzevux Hehe:)

  • Zen was the third star in this film. She goes first to a Buddhist monastery. The ending whisper is like a koan similar to 'if a tree falls in the woods and no one is there does it make a noise'. Of course images of Mt Fuji may be a mountain to us in the West but is very religiously symbolic in Japan. She hurts her foot and a coat is returned in the end which are also very often used in religious stories. She is the lost seeker. He's the imperfect wise clown. Love is bigger than the two of them.

  • This movie really makes me miss Tokyo.

  • @Viperkal , indeed!

  • @Viperkal

    NO KIDDING. Same here.

  • I have so many questions for Sofia about this movie. Yet I would never ask her what he whispered to her. The mystery makes the moment that much better and unique.

  • This is the best movie ever. Normally it isnt exactly my prefered genre but I cant describe how much this movie appeal to me personally.

  • this is 1 of my All time FAV. movies and astonishingly original n beautiful, even bleeding cool : ) simply a masterpiece and The Blade Runner of modern times.

    (my FAV BTW [blade] )

  • The last kiss wasnt in the script..it was one little fill up to the movie from the actors and Sofia kept it because she said it belonged there.Such an original and excellent movie

  • I think the whispering is like the contents of the briefcase in pulp fiction--it can be anything the viewer wants it to bo

  • @puglovers Yea, but this is a lot more ambiguous. You can narrow down what it is probably is in Pulp Fiction, but in this what he says can be 2 totally opposite things.

  • He said: "won't let this come between us.." something like that.

i think it's even more beautiful when you know what he said, that happen to me C:

  • @chavafuck He said something like that, or something else.

  • great ending, left me satisfied, but so melancholy. kind of like the feeling you get being at an airport early in the morning. the air is cool, and all you can think about is how sad it is that you're leaving and how you're already missing all the people you're leaving behind, even if you're coming back! very melancholy. idk if anyone else knows what that feeling is like, but that ending makes me feel like that

  • @MrJINNY YES!!! ive been thinking of a way to explain the feeling the ending gives me and its just that.If I ever go to tokyo and go to the airport at like 4:30 am il probably think of this movie and cry:P

  • @DrinkMoxie9000 all i can say is, i love this movie! after rewatching this after i saw your reply, i want to watch the whole movie again haha

  • Sophia,, you're a great director. i loved this movie.

  • Leaving for Japan in the morning. I have to watch this movie everytime I get ready to leave.

  • wouldn't it be so great if all film could make us feel something nice like this -- long live indie filmmakers that don't need ginormous budgets but rely on smart stories and show us how sharing universal feelings adds light to the world

  • i fell in love with the man who introduced me to this film

  • beautiful

  • this is probably the most heart-wrenching moment I've witnessed in a film. it's just done so beautifully, the music fits perfectly, and it almost physically pains me to see them walk away from each other. I kept thinking they were going to turn around and run back together...but no :(

  • It makes me feel good that there are still movie makers out there with original ideas and can shoot movies without special effects and let the actors create the emotions and real life dialogue. Bill Murray is pure genius on so many levels in this movie!!!! One of the great gems in American cinema. Of course the soundtrack is amazing !!!

  • It makes me feel good that there are still movie makers out there with original ideas and can shoot movies without special effects and let the actors create the emotions and real life dialogue. Bill Murray is pure genius on so many levels in this movie!!!! One of the great gems in American cinema.

  • The best ending to a movie I've ever seen

  • Such a lovely story. When we saw this at the theater my wife asked me after what I thought Murray's character said to her. My reply was, "Everything she needed to hear." That's why she begins to smile just before she walks out of frame.

  • There is no other film like this one. Such soul, such insight in the human mind, perfect acting, beautiful cinematography. I wouldn´t cut or add another second - a masterpiece.

  • The simplicity of this movie is on it's own an achievement .

The ending is a small luxury to let each one of us choose the outcome.

Wish there were more movies like this one.

  • One of the best movies of all time. It's just perfect the way it's so pure and simple their relationship. I relate so much with this movie, i can't believe it took me so much time to watch it.

  • I can't get over how beautiful this movie is. I wish I could watch it for the first time again.

  • @BOomeek

right, i want to see it for the first time again as well... bloody long term memory

  • Truly amazing final scene and song....so moving. An unlikely couple thrown together and experiencing the potential of human connection

  • If I could be Bill Murray one day !! (to kiss you know who)

  • @hamsterdj78 Then I could be you and kiss you know who....or wait

  • I don't I think I would be able to walk away from "the one"... This makes me think different about people who divorce from their spouses because they found someone else.

  • this song is perfect for the ending!

  • this is exactly how i felt when i was in japan :D

  • I'll quote a friend of mine (and I had said this): "The movie is as slow as hell, but that ending hits like a truck full of trucks full of bricks."

  • Comment removed

  • i always believed one reason I thought this film was so extra special was because I had been to japan several dozen times. great to see so many "others" loving it...

  • thanks, perfect ending

  • so late in seeing this but hands down one of my favourite movies ever.It was so simple and so real, its a perfect representation of what would actually happen instead of that happy ever after crap.Ive always wanted to go to tokyo and if I do il probably think of this scene and start to sob..

  • ok, ora vado a spararmi... -_-

  • imagine Francis Ford Coppola's face while watching this movie

  • no pues si quede conforme es lo mas bello cabrones

  • God, how i love this movie! It's so subtle, so romantic and it doesn't need raunchy sex scenes or lots of kisses to be just that: a hyper romantic masterpiece... And it has a great soundtrack too. Deepp and touching!!!

  • I watched the movie three times in a row and each time my heart stops beating during this scene. Sofia has managed to translate the feeling of being lost and the feeling to be able to find itself again.

  • Bill Fuckin' Murray!!!

  • When I ask someone what they thought of Lost In Translation, and they reply, "ummm... I didn't really like it... kinda boring" or "eh. It was ok, I guess," it makes me wonder how my brain works soooo completely differently than theirs.

  • @sushinutnc

I use this film as a litmus test to see if people have good taste in films

  • @aristideau haha I do that too but with Somewhere, I ask em, why do you think he cries in the end? And depending on their answer I judge em, am I too shallow?

  • @sushinutnc I totally hear ya. I am a guy who had never cried about a movie until this one. I met a woman who had been married for 8 years and would never leave or cheat on her husband. But we knew we were actually meant for each other, but the timing isn't always right. Just like this movie, she loves her husband, he feel loyalty (kinda) to his wife. But they both know they were meant for each other. And they acted it so well. So few words, but so much shared. It gets me every time.

  • This scene is brilliant. It leaves the audience with both joy and sadness. It is the perfect ending. Any other ending would ruin the film

  • what a gift you gave us, sofia

  • I've been watching this nonstop for the last 4 weeks. I always cry tho.

  • this scene just gets to me every time.. i'm not even the kind of fella who would ever cry watching a movie

  • This film is so deep, it influenced me a great deal. My favourite film ever. The most beautiful ending scene ever.

The music is also perfect. <3

  • this is absolutely perfect.

  • WHY DONT YOU LOOK AT HER MORON?! 0:38

  • Fantastic movie, fantastic song

  • True msterpiece :)

  • Just like honeeeeey

  • 2 people have no soul.

  • @DEADBUTDREAMING1973 I voted for this and I have no soul. If you check you'll find you don't have one either.

  • @lewars1912 Do please enlighten me and vindicate your statement.

  • @DEADBUTDREAMING1973 If you truly believe that you have a soul then there is no way I could possibly enlighten you. It would be like trying to enlighten someone who believes in flying pink elephants.

  • @lewars1912 Well that's "ME" convinced. Groundbreaking stuff.

  • @DEADBUTDREAMING1973 They're called "Stupid people", and now there are six of them.

  • Sofia Coppola portray in unbelievable way surrounding us loneliness. I wish know what Murray said to her.

    Great ending.

  • @MrElwood2 He said ''I wont let this get between us''

  • @MrElwood2 If you look on IMDB it tells you what he says in the trivia section. "I won't see you till the next making of Suntory. Go to that man and tell him the truth, okay?"
