@Musikstudio24 No. A super saw is a pseudo wave form designed by Roland first in 1997 for the JP-8000. You can detune the oscillators of the juno 2012 as shown in the video. Detuning of the oscillators off each unit individually would have to be done through reprogramming of the slave CPU as the DCO pitch is determined from the point.
Roland dont believe in going backwards Japanese are very proud and perfectionist orientated people. The junos and jupiters were failures in their eyes. Thats why they have now released the amazing JUPITER 80 which makes this sound like a dated toy.
Only the DX7 MK2 can take this new Jupiter 80 and thats because it has greater attack. and is able to produce drum kits like the TR808 because of its incomparable snap.
@PaulFitzZaland Only in part. Aside from the fact that the audio is summed together before the Chorus effect you also have the polyphonic filter modulation from the voices of the slave unit to the filters of the master unit. Also the cross fading circuitry between the two units has been designed specifically to accommodate the headroom of the chorus circuitry.
@ChemicalComedown Yep had bought a second Juno for spares to fix up another one and thought it was a shame to kill one for the sake of another so thought I would give this a shot. Spent the last few months refining the initial mod to something more certificated. Previously I simply had one synth mix in to the others which would lead to distortino of the chorus circuitry so re-thought that with the cross fade circuits with level
dip in the 50% position then cleaned up the audio signel and changed who the midi was hooked up and finally added extra VCA circuits for the poly filter FM :) finished that off on new years day still with a hang over ;) still makes the new name all the more relevant.
@blazingedgepro Would be nice wouldn't it. I thoroughly modern synth with selectable VCO, DCO, FM operators, digital wave cycle/granular technology all under the same hood would be sweet but its a great deal cheaper just to write software for a DSP / VA engine I guess.
@psyfi Of course it wouldn't need all that -- not if it's analog. A basic Juno design with tunable oscillators, a second envelope, and a few other minor enhancements like velocity and aftertouch, all at a good price...and totally analog...it would take the world by storm.
If normal people can mod like this, there should be almost nothing standing in the way of throwing two juno 106/60/6 like analog synths into something with a GAIA approach to the UI.
If affordable, I bet a lot of us would pay for a machine like that. :)
@psynapsurfa The main connections in the Juno are made through hard wierd midi as the sysex implementation is so good on the Juno. This is how we get all the different function types. The Jupiter 8 is pre midi but the JP6 has midi and there is a great Europa firmware upgrade to bring it up to modern spec but pure hooking the two up would still be possible it would be a case of buffering out he voltages from the keyboard two the different key assigner circuits.
@kakashisensei427 It's hard to say as the price you might pay to pick up two Juno's can vary, but for the other parts and my time we are looking at around the £750/£800 mark. It's around a 1.5 to 2 weeks of my time to complete. That's making a new case installing parts, building the new circuits, calibration, testing. Any repairs to the Junos would be charged on top of this. Also there is postage to consider for anyone to far away to pick up and drop of the units in person.
Does this thing provides SuperSaw ?
