  • What do you mean when you said "flavor crystals?" These videos have been really great. Thank you, both of you, for making the sacrifices and helping us to learn also:)

    BOP

  • During hurricane Ike I was without power for 2 weeks at home and at work here in Texas in the summer is real fun!

  • Random idea for cooling the water, possibly get some thin copper piping, coil it and put it into a rain barrel for instant cool water.

  • Excellent video coverage of your experiment. I proposed this test to my wife several months ago...still trying to convince her it's a good idea. Thanks for your documentary!

  • Get a portable grill, or a camp stove the uses the propane cylinders like you have in the end of your video. The grill are $15 or $20 USA at Wal-mart. If you have a regular gas stove in your house you can light it with a match to cook and heat with. There are also light that work with propane cylinders, and a spare set of mantles. Used to the occasional power outage from storms. Fill up pitchers and pans if you think you might lose power, and use it and replace it to keep it fresh.

  • rat on a stick! AHAHAH i can just see it in the future when society collapses some will make their living selling rat burgers like in the movie demolition man oh wow that makes me hungry

  • it is a great lesson to lern never forget this

  • With so much survival gear and food, your need to protect it from marauders is another survival requirement. The only thing that works is a firearm and the skills to use it when needed.

  • GREAT CHANNEL...... o yes life is fragile From CANADA ?? I saw the brown 100 dollar bill... WHERE in ontario.

  • GREAT CHANNEL...... o yes life is fragile From CANADA ?? I saw the brown 100 dollar bill...

  • you are just lucky to be in Canada :P

  • hey cody lundin! hes awesome, if you dont know who he is look him up! hes so cool, and if u havnt seen it already watch his show duel survivor on discovery channel!

  • I think you would be much better off by just getting a good 3 day emergency kit. Also, a good auto emergency kit. Try Emergency And Disaster Supplies

  • Why not a high quality water filter for drinking water and save the fuel for cooking. great vid.. takes a lot of guts to do it when you dont have to!!!

  • Don't forget to watch Cody in his new series Dual Survivor on the discovery channel.

  • Read the book or listen to it on audio-(One Second After). It's about what happens after an explosion takes place over the central U.S. causing electromagnetic pulse. You may find it interesting and informative.

  • Learn how to use a sling with round, metal balls or similiar projectiles. Protection and finding game......it would take you about a day to learn how to use one with signifcant success....

  • OMG all this to learn that we are all spoiled rotten??? You did this as a practice thing. When I was young (teens) I would go visit my aunts and cousans that lived in the back hollers of dekalb county tn... Corn biscuts country ham and egg cooked on a REAL wood cook stove.. Walked about 50 yards to take a dump in the wood outhouse kerocene lighting... We thought nothing of it just the way it was.. The way you did things made you uncomfortable...

  • An idea for clothing in a power outage. Having some clothes set aside that aren't cotton. Reason being if the clothes have to be washed and dried by hand cotton clothes will be very difficult to dry. Clothes that are non cotton dry much easier. Thank you.

  • I ordered that book. I can't wait to get it, I want to see how it is =) I have a friend who works for Homeland Security and he has stressed that we should be ready for an emergency so.... it's time I checked to see how ready I am, I guess!

  • FYI: When drinking rainwater, boil first. But boiled rainwater is still very flat tasting. That odd taste can be abated somewhat by decanting the water back and forth between containers to dissolve air into the water.

  • How do you choose plastic containers that won't break down and toxify the water?

  • I look for food grade plastics, such as HDPE (high-density polyethylene or PEHD (polyethylene high-density). I do however prefer stainless steel or glass over any type of plastic.

  • amazing video!!!

  • where'd you get the book?

  • Which one?

  • the tracking one and survival one you said was humorous

  • @firesotormlizard01 Look on Ebay for both his books and Dave cantebery's book as well I have already got them plus Les Stroud's books on a watch list. Great prices too.

  • excellent vid. todays socity was build on convience. survival is not impossible but id does take time. but, when your just trying to survive and you dont have to go to work...thats all you have.

  • excellent!!! That is Urban survival at the best!!!

  • do you have natural gas logs for heat indoors during the winter? get a old school aluminum charcoal grill for cooking

  • great vid man keep the good work like the rain barrel I think I gonna equip myself too

  • Yes! I have an army of penny stoves and a load of fuel. I have a few gallons of non potable water for showers and such. I also have a few gallons of potable water for drinking that will last a while. I live in florida so i dont have to worry about the cold very much. I also have a load of flashlights and a few dynamo flashlights and a dynamo radio! I have enough food to last maybe a month. Great video man.

  • Sounds like you're ready. I'd love to hear about an evaluation if you ever do one, or a video. Thanks for sharing.

  • Water is life.

  • I couldn't agree more. I don't know how many of us really understand that.
