I didn't know Amtrak California had push-pull equipment. Have they just started recently, or were their trains always able to operate from either end?
they were custom built, you'll notice that the wheel well has quite a bit more space than on the superliners, but they and often do work in conjunction with the superliners.

i think they always have, bt im not sure cuz they used to run f40's with horizon cars and i dont kno if they included a cabcar in that consist

No they didnt. They had a cafe at the end and that was it. My friend has a video of that and that only. It got boring after 5 minutes.
