This is a peace of art! I watch it from a friend VHS tape on 1999 and today give me lots of nostalgic... More because sadly in my city (Guadalajara, Mexico) we have never have a big culture for anything involving music.
This documentary evokes some nostalgic times, I get a bit teary eyed whenever I watch it. One of the best on contemporary electronic music that I can recall, and there are a few out there. I like the juxtaposition of music, imagery, and interview footage. It is one of my goals to track down and acquire every song on this film. I remember the sheer thrill of the electronic music renaissance and rave culture of the 90's.
@FeedbackMonitor There is at least one release by way of a Soundtrack, not quite positive about a part 2. Not all-encompasing. Has some very cool liner notes though. And they released a book by the same name.
i saw this saturday night at Even Further when it first came out, the promoters had it on a projector and big screen out in the grass. I was sooooo fucked up on pills. ritchey hawtin played around 3am and my brain melted. DROPP BASS!!!!
A nice little time capsule, very 90's, but the outlook feels very worn out by now; I've read/heard the ideas expressed here a million times before, and often in more interesting versions. As a documentary, it falls flat; it attempts to swallow everything and ends up being an awful lot of nothing, or at least little more than a collection of snapshots/headlines. "Right, we've got Autechre mumbling something about "Planet Rock" for twenty seconds, that's that bit covered". Frantic and unfocused.
great documentary! thx for the upload. anybody know what's the song at the ending credits? i swear i heard it somewhere before but i never knew it's name.
"All music is innately psychedelic." Incredible!
