The GVCS are intended to be tools that, -when finished- people can build themselves with minimum capital ... but they have to be designed and prototyped first, and until there is a full and complete set of tools (such as their own induction furnace to forge their own parts), they must rely on off-the-shelf parts to develop the prototypes. There is a long road ahead.

Why not just buy a used John Deere or Cat? It would be better, cheaper and a helluva lot less work than building one out of scrap

Made with health and safety in mind.... great..
and the lessons learned from industry are used...
and ecology...why build a hybrid tractor when you can build a traditional one..
its great to see all the things you advocate actually do not apply to yourself..
