  • *just sits here, dazed*

    wow...

  • Wow!!!!

  • Wow!!!

  • I love when he fixes his glasses at the very beginning after the first 4 sixteenth notes!!! He is such an amazing violinist and person! :)

  • I don't play a string instrument (im a brass guy) but his technique is nothing i've ever seen from other string players. His bow and finger movements are exceptionally smooth and hes so relaxed. Looks like child's play.

  • @GunzTheDuel It's because of his dominance! The other string players just show off.

  • 100:1.........epic like to dislike ratio

  • Fantabulissimo!!! This is the only kind of music that you can stab people in the face, with class, and finesse!!! But seriously, fucking AWESOME.

  • I hate people clapping until the piece is not finished,

  • Te quiero Itzhak, tú eres la razón de que siga vivo y libre y estoy enamorado de una maravillosa muchacha, su nombre es música.

  • I don't like this man, I don't like this video, I don't like the violin, I LOVE IT!!

  • he looks like hes playing with it. this is the best I have ever sen of this movement anywhere

  • I would like to nominate Itzhak Perlman for the greatest musician in the universe. Ever.

  • J'en frisonne encore ... Je crois que c'est le dieu de notre bel instrument !

  • Wow! I don't know what else to say - that was amazing!!

  • What passion and joy... Unbelievable.

  • i cant exit outa this....its 3 am and ive been listening to this for hrs...so amazing

  • awesome

  • MANY HAPPY RETURNS of the DAY..:-)

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY,Mr.PEARLman !

    <3<3<3

  • I always regarded my sight as the sense I would not want to loose, now I question that thought.

  • why sitting down... lazy lol

  • @Medsas you're not serious are you?

  • @SenorFez3 didnt know he was disabled, that's all

  • @Medsas , he's disabled. It's not like he wants to sit down.

  • @Medsas are you the consummate idiot of classical music? He had polio as a child, jackass.

  • @anniefriday13 relax jeez, I said I did not know he was disabled right after

  • @Medsas because he has poilio and needs braces to walk so sitting is easier

  • it makes the piece look effortless it's illegal

  • Perlman makes violin look SUPER EASY yet it's one of the hardest instruments to play well.

  • Itzhak Pearlman is THE greatest violinist of our time. And he's having the time of his life doing it. Mr. Pearlman, you ROCK!!!

  • I love how he plays like he's having the most fun of his life. That smile on his face is priceless.

  • He has such chubby finger:) But plays with such precise intonation and dexterity!

  • world class the BEST. What passion....

  • HOLY SHIT THAT WAS AMAZING.

  • Everytime I hear Perlman play, I die of happiness.

  • Why is this recording so bad?

  • let me say that I'm extremely ashamed that I even tried to play this piece.

    Great job ,Perlman >.>

  • wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow

  • The best part was 0:00-5:45

  • @iSamsungGalaxySi

    5:46 was terrible, though

  • :):):):):):):):):):):):)

  • terrific!!!!!

  • 8 Justin Bieber fans don't know genius when they see it.

  • This is what Making Love With God sounds like. Prayer? All Great Art IS Prayer, isn't it? •••••••••••

  • he's just that amazing..!

  • 1:28 - Just comes in like nothing! How is that even possible?

  • Itzhak Perlman is so adorable. :) I can't help but smile when he does. It's amazing how he looks so happy and bubbly playing this and he can also play pieces like Schindler's List with so much intense sadness and passion. It's impossible not to feel what he feels while he's playing.

  • 0:00 - 5:45 Itzhak Perlman :)

  • God I just started playing the finale of this concerto and I can't believe how easy Perlman makes it look. Not to mention that the key signature is treacherous. I can only imagine how long it takes and how much practice is required to play so gracefully.

  • 1:21....Orville Redenbacher...

  • violin concerto in?? what key?

  • @Sprengladung E minor

  • @Sprengladung well it's Mendelssohn's violin concerto in E minor.. but this movement is in E major :)

  • Shreding again!

  • Zinman almost looses his balance at the end when shaking Perlman's hands. lol

  • cant i have the 1st movement?

  • he looks so happyy

  • Like a boss, Perlman.

  • I love how his playing is absolutely sublime, and yet he has this huge grin on his face the entire time.

    Priceless.

  • I love how he just grins and nods at the end, like: "Yeah, it's no big deal, I just shredded the cr*p out of that concerto. Like you do." He's so awesome

  • 0:02 no sweat...

  • I had this big grin on my face watching Perlman play so effortlessly and beautiful; and the way he's able to control those up bow staccatos with just two fingers and thumb...just brilliant. He wins hands down!

  • look at that smile on his face.

it's like playing this is so effortless.

    amazing.

  • Mr. Perlman, you complete my life.

  • Best violinst in the world ,Bravo!

  • He looks like a serial killer.

  • what opus no. is this?

  • @joelcjj 64

  • Don't you just love it when he fixes his glasses after hitting that harmonic!! lol.

  • the conductor nearly fell off the podium at the end XD

  • I have been listening to this since a child on the amazon river. I find it magic.

    A.S.Angelo

  • To borrow from Jimmy Dugan, "the hard is what makes it great."

  • BRAVO¡¡¡¡¡ BRAVISIMO ¡¡¡¡¡¡ Que barbara composicion y que forma tan brutal de interpretar de Perlman.

  • lol ur right about 5:34 hahaha so funny! but he is amazing in this song... i love sarah chang's interpretation too.

  • ahhh this is why he remains my favorite violinist in the world. its like the violin grew out of his body as another limb. its perfection. he is the master. he is living every note and playing from the heart, makes it look effortless.

  • Genius. 100% involvement.

Perlman is living in this Mendelssohn piece while he plays.

He's a part of the music. Untouchable.

  • I don't know much about classical music and probably shouldn't comment for that reason, but this guy makes it look effortless. I been on a bit of a mission to find the best violinist at the moment. I'm told it's subjective. My vote is for this chap

  • @LeBigMacDaddy I'm in the same boat as you. I find my preference changes from piece to piece, for instance, Chung is probably not the best on anyone's list, but one of her solos (Cadenzas?) in the Beethoven concerto is incredible. I've read that Joshua Bell is not as technically adept as Perlman and others, but I swear there's something he sees in certain bits of music that other performers don't.

  • @boronx I hear that boronx, since I posted that comment I saw Chang's version of the Mendelssohn concerto. Blew me away, that girl had such a feel for the emotion of the piece. Fell in love with her a little bit. Yet I wasn't such a fan of her interpretation of Vivaldi's Winter movement, for that I would go for either Gideon or Shaham. Horses for courses I guess! I'll check out Joshua Bell on your recommendation, if you've got any other tips send em this way! Cheers dude

  • @boronx Um. I think Chung is always on peoples' lists when it comes to the violin! I must admit that Perlman plays this one very nicely. He makes it look so effortless.

  • 5:34 = "come here bitches"

  • Can you post the first movement? please?

  • Just absolutely incredible. He looks like he's having so much fun as well.

  • @jen0989 Yes!!! he's played this piece for years... since he was like 12 years old or something ..:)

  • This is just like ice cream! Excepting that I can have as much as I want and not get sick. So... in that respect, this is BETTER than ice cream!

  • A great Jewish violinist playing a great Jewish composer. Can it get any better?

  • The conductor looks a lot like Tchaikovsky

  • @SergRach1 from one angle, he looks like bill murray, only for a breif second, but i agree with you

  • @MrViolinGuy yes that's also true !!

  • ok, thats crazy :) love it!

  • JOY! Thanks, Itzhak- sharing the Joy! Wonderful, Blessings to You and Yours!

  • Joy! Thank You, Itzhak and ALL

  • Thank for the share, because of the way Itzhak Perlam play this piece sound so cheerful and happy it make me don't want to give up on my violin.

  • I'm beginning to like Pearlman! His playing makes me smile. So relax and playful and cheerful that I can sense from his music. Great job! thanks for uploading!

  • is this performance on a recording where i recording wher ei can buy or download it i need it for all state this year :)

  • The great ones just make it look so easy.

  • When the technique disappears and all sounds and looks effortless, then you know you are in the presence of greatness.

  • What's the word im searching for to describe this......Oh yea! perfection!

  • No one can beat Perlman's version of this piece. Other pieces I think the other violinists like Sarah Chang and Vengerov are better.

    Thanks for the upload! :-D

  • As expected did Mr. Perlman work on his tone. Here we have a mature artist who is in full control. Brilliant! One of my favorites on the tube, and saved as such. Thanks for posting it.

    Long live Mendelssohn's music!

    Brew

  • Perlman is my favourite violinist ever. I never tire of his work. He is one of the greatest. His skill in this movement is second to none and look out he makes this plece look so simple, he eats it...love it

  • Merci pour cette vidéo. M. Perlman vit ce qu'il joue. Très belle interprêtation du final de ce concero.

    Bravo.

  • its all by memory too

  • EXPECTACULAR !!! But the tempo is too fast for my taste, maybe because is live and most people do not appreciate a sensible tempo like it was written by Mendelssohn. Mr Perlman is great !!

  • omg hes looking into the audience at the end and hes still playing like AMAZZZINGNNGG

  • thank god for YouTube so all can watch videos like that

  • is this piece hard to learn? thinking of having this pieve for my all state piece

  • @superswimster haha, you cant ask if a piece is hard to learn that depends on the player.

  • @superswimster I'm learning this piece right now for college auditions and I've been playing for about 9/10 years and I'm finding this piece fiendishly difficult. I'm practicing about 4 hours a day now. lol but nevertheless, an amazing piece!

  • @TomQuags93 i just sight read the first 2 pages loooks intemidating but just lots of scales.... GOOD LUK ON UR AUDITION! tats soo cool. yup this is a challenging piece well gud luk :) and thanks haha 4hours?! i gotta prac then lol

  • @TomQuags93 When did u start violin? I haven't met many people who have played for 9/10 years... besides me.

  • i love how he doesnt even try and he plays it sooooo ammaaaazzziinnggg!!!!

  • Who are the bassoonists?

  • 4:20 conducter looks like Tchaikovsky

  • so...good

  • I just keep on watching this over and over again ... amazed ! wow !

  • his music is like pearls falling on the floor

  • @wyen1988 I don't get ur comment... is pearls falling on the floor a good thing?

  • I love u....Itzhak Perlman

    Keep up the good work

  • OMG ...he absolutely talented human being on earth ... love it very much ...

  • His glasses are super-retro!

  • Saw him play this live at the orpheum in Vancouver on april the 26 this year. Words really can't express how great it was.

  • Amazing interpretation.

  • maicol2931ruiz-¡¡¡Bravísimo!!!

  • I saw him in concert. Some romances i think. Anyway, it was heartbreaking to see him walk up to his seat. But when he played, I felt the same joy in music that his face shows everytime he plays.

  • Awesome - I love it

  • I have just come back from watching him tonight, and he played this piece, and it was AMAZING!!! As it was happening it was practically incomprehensible he was so good....completely captivatingly beautiful. It is something I'll remember all my life, (and I'm 16)...

  • ...wow..!! he seems at ease even when playing so fast!! perlman is amazing :D

  • at the end his vibrato looks like "come here"

  • @jcrazykeem Hahahah yeah!! come here!!!! Great..!!!

  • 4:56 - "Hey, how are you doing?"

  • It is difficult to get my mind around his never-grow-old facial expressions AND his great skill on the violin - a result of growing up in an environment which nurtured and encouraged him to express himself freely. If you consider another great violinist, Heifetz, for example, you see a very rigid face - a product of a more strict environment. I much prefer the former.

  • he is so cute! I love that he smiles so much while playing

  • why is he sitting?

  • @me148 I believe this gentleman has polio.

  • @me148 had polio at 4, so he walks with crutches.

  • Child's play work! As far as he is concerned!

  • absolutely amazing!!! not a mistake, full of musicality, great vibrato, great balzato....everything's great. And usually I'm not a Perlman's lover....but this is just unbelievable!

  • @Rinhos Isn't important the great vibrato and the great balzato, but is very important the childlike smile on his face!!He amuses himself while he plays the violin and this is essential!!

  • I know next to nothing about violin music, but this has got to the the most beautifully played piece of music I have ever heard; played with great passion; music between 5 min. 10 sec and 5 min. 16 sec is the icing on the cake.

  • Have you all seenhis 13 year old performance of this? Exceptional!!!!

  • What is the story behind the Soil?

  • He makes it look so easy!

  • @kimfishify it ain't easy, but perhaps for him it is. It should be fun, and great music is. It's all hard, but it most great music whether it be classics, classic rock, is hard, but FUN. He plays it as he feels it!

  • It looks like he's having a great time!! I love that!!

  • I wonder if he is as good as the country music fiddlers? Just kidding His playing is so clean His phrasing of notes so short and evenly spaced regardless of what tempi he plays at . His bowing is so light almost ethereal with no wasted movement His pitch is superb. It doesn't hurt -as others have said- that he is playing a very fine instrument with a tone that literally sings [probably a Strad: but maybe a DelGesu] All in all I think he passes the test

  • is it just the way the mikes were set up, or does anyone hate the fact that the dynamic range is so completely flattened out - you never hear the subito pianos , etc etc.
