If all of the large banks had failed(which was a strong possibility), the federal government would have had pay out trillions to depositors who had lost their bank accounts.

@viletree The Iraq war alone will cost 2 to 3 Trillion dollars. The cost of Afghanistan will be at least a Trillion dollars. Since all of the money to finance the two wars was borrowed there will also be interest payments for years to come. As unpopular as the bailouts were, doing nothing would have been far more expensive. If all of the large banks had failed(which was a strong possibility), the federal government would have had pay out trillions to depositors who had lost their bank accounts.

This is their definition of equality. They think that capitalism has a limit in that if you earn $1000 then it comes out of the pocket of the poor who can't earn that same $1000 you got. When in fact that's not how capitalism works. If you spent 100,000 to build a house and sell it for 150,000, you ceated 50000 from nothing.

@Rushtrdamus ..... Why did I know you were going to embrace the constitution on this one point? Having a right doesn't mean it is right. Does it demand any specific location? We have zoning laws that prevents many people from building on lands zoned for specific purposes everyday. Building a monument to killing 3000 people who dared to earn a living and support their families strikes me as unseamly and I think we can zone that into NJ. You know like a mosque there which planned the 1st bombing.
