That scene with the man deciding to jump is a travesty to what actually prompted such actions. The "jumpers" were reflexively escaping from unbearable heat. There was no conscious "giving up". They fell victim to their own split-second impulses to avoid the torturous flames. Not many people want to hear this, and that's what makes the topic of the jumpers so taboo, but all of us would do the exact same thing were we in that situation. You can't "choose" to stand next to burning jet fuel.

Okay, but this was real life. It really was an impossible situation for some of those people--and it still would be if it happened again. But if it makes you feel any better, the ones that fell and jumped did not feel any pain when they hit the ground. It's hard to imagine, but the impact from a fall this high is just SO completely devastating that the central nervous system/brain are basically destroyed before it can even send/receive pain signals.

@jbjb202 There where 47 high density steel core collums in each of the twin towers. It takes more time than that to set up explosives that could do that much damage to ALL the collums. The speed they came down shows there was no resistance from the core collums. That brings us to the power down on the 8th & 9th. The N.Y. port authority is now denying the power down ever took place. I don't think that all those former WTC employees lied about that, I think the port authority is lying, WHY?

I've seen very little footage of them but I've heard that the fabric would either tear and/or be ripped from their hands.
