for anyone wondering about hiccup's leg, (this is from the book) hiccup was knocked unconscious. Toothless raced to his friend and as he got closer he realized the only thing close enough to his master was his mouth. If he retracted his teeth hiccup would slip away. so carefully he showed his teeth and lached on to hiccup's foot while pulling him close to his chest to protect hiccup. So toothless accidentally ripped off his foot and thats why hiccup has a prothstetic leg.

POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING

I personally doubt it. if you watched the movie, you would know that a night fury's speed is insane. Heck, even in slo-mo it was still pretty fast. and near the end of the movie, you can see hiccup falling into the raging inferno . so what i think happened is toothless was (because of his burnt away tail) he was fast enough to save most of hiccup, but not his left leg.

@Scathac24 If you look at the damage to surrounding area and to the equipment toothless was wearing plus the fact that toothless landed ON him I can only surmise that his leg was crushed and/or ripped off upon impack(sp?). It might have had to been aputated the rest of the way later.
