Hi been watchin your uc vlogs very good had j pouch 18 years ago just recently had stricture in my small intestine had flex camera to investigate the have stretched the hole now no more pain vomiting
Wow, that sounds like super-aggressive surgery! I heard about UC on TV and then, because I was interested, I did some you tube research. My mom is a nurse and she explained to me what happens with the colon when somebody does have UC. I really hope, this finds you well. And I wish you all the best for your future! Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy new year! Kind regards from Germany , Tini
I don't know exactly what happens but if the pouch tears or rips or in any way opens up, the stool does go somewhere other than where it's supposed to, and that's not good. When I was in the hospital I was rooming with a man who had that happen to him twice. It seems like it's a correctable problem but definitely not very fun.

Did you have your whole colon removed?

@TinTiger81 Yes, first my colon, then three months later my rectum as well.

about how many times do you use the bathroom a day after the surgery?

I haven't started using my pouch for real yet. Keep watching my videos in the coming weeks and I'll talk about an operating j-pouch.
That said, even though my pouch is dormant right now, it still produces mucus, so I use the bathroom once or twice a day to get rid of that mucus.

Can you tell me, if the pouch fails, is their a possibility the feces could leak into the bloodstream causing you to become toxic?
