I agree that they do have the money to upgrade their graphics to look more smooth instead of the blocky characters that we play with now. Though with every expansion they release they said they do touch up the graphics a bit

While cinematic graphics will never be usable in games due to the extremely high detail levels taking too long to render, it would be nice to have a little bit of a graphical revamp in WoW.

@psycodoood they could but you could stack at 1 Fps the video u see is rendered with mental ray you need 5 seconds to render 1 frame they cant make such detailed graphics for games only for videos

The main reason they do not do Mmos on consoles is not the quality difference between pcs and consoles.

It is because of the limited controls compared to computer if any of you played starcraft for computer and starcraft64 you would know what i mean.

MMO's will always be on PC's, not consoles. Consoles simply aren't designed for complex games and programs. Anyone who says "consoles are only for leet people who have money" is an idiot because most computers cost more than consoles, and good computers cost several times more than consoles. I'm not saying consoles are bad, certain games feel better played on a TV with a joystick controller instead of a mouse and keyboard. But when it comes to higher level computing, the PC is always best.

I kinda think warcraft should at least upgrade the graphics so that muscles on an orc doesnt look like orbs and pyramids stacked together to look like an arm. + I think this game would be beter on the ps3 or xbox360! =)

Aions graphics were inspired by Guild wars, oh which's design was not inspired by wow. Guild wars graphics absolutely wrecked WoW's, and were on a very simmilair release date. The fact they haven't really done a serious update in so many years is pretty appalling, to be honest.

if the graphics were that good in game you would get about 1 frame an hour if your were lucky on the highest end desktop you can build. so unless your bill gates and could afford to have a workstation renderfarm big enough to shove those frames out to you at a playable rate don't expect ingame graphics to be this good anytime soon.

I think they would be fine with just smoothing things out, but one thing that's unique about WoW is the cartoon-y graphics.

To be honest, if they made the graphics too realistic, or anime-ish, I would not play any more.

I HATE games with anime graphics, and I also don't like too realistic graphics because then the game doesn't feel as surreal.

The thing is, they aren't meant to be realistic. They are meant to be cartoon-like. The only way to improve the graphics and keep the style would be to smooth them out, which they could do, but it's not a big deal because they'd still be cartoon-y.

I do play other games btw (css, wc3, crysis, half life series, portal, Florensia, Eve, Warhammer, Guild Wars, and a few others). But I've temporarily stopped playing all the monthly fee games cuz my hours at work were cut last month.

those characters have several million polygons each, so i highly doubt that they are going to be exactly like in the movie, but with these modern bump and displacement map techniques they could get somewhat close.. :)

do you realize the complexity of the nature of these sort of graphics? first of all, you would have to set aside a single computer (with decent memory and graphics) just to handle the game. the game is massive as is, and with these changes, the game would have sooooooo much more added. so if you're expecting WoW to just change all of the sudden, ur wrong. it takes HUGE ammounts of work, and WoW right now is the best looking PC game out there. get used to it.
