  • this is so great...can anyone help me learn the language..the sindarin form of elvish?

  • Hi there.

I have silly question. What is this 'Ritual Path'? There are no trailers, no reviews - nothing about it. Only music.

  • It is an art piece - beautiful visuals by animator John Banks (artekimages) accompanied by the music of Fritz Heede, including other singers like Jon Anderson (lead singer of "Yes") and of course me, Nijole Sparkis. Great to create ambience at a party by playing it on all your TV's, computers, etc. Some people meditate to it. Get it at Amazon & elsewhere. The same team created the Illuminated Manuscripts DVD in 2002-that one is more Eastern, this one's more Western.

  • Wow, this is incredibly beautiful!

    <3

  • where can i get this DVD? i luv it sooo much...

btw, it would be kewl if some1 could show me a free link. :D thx

  • i know, same. does anyone know where to find it?

  • I wanted to listen to Elvish music and I've stumbled upon a treasure.

  • same here :)

  • Elvish languages: Primitive Quendian Avarin languages (at least six languages) Common Eldarin Quenya Vanyarin Quenya Noldorin Quenya Common Telerin Telerin of Valinor Sindarin (at least three dialects, namely Northern, Doriathrin and Gondorian) Nandorin languages (influenced by Avarin)
  • So this is primitive elvish?

I think tolkien called his 'primitive' elvish Qenya. (No not QUENYA. QENYA.)

It sounds beautiful, are there lyrics and a translation, I'd really like to know what the song is saying.

  • no Quenya was spoken by the high elves.

Primitive elvish is called Quendian which became Eldarin and from that became Quenya.

  • Ah, yes my bad. Thanks for correcting me.

I even found a list of all of tolkiens languages!

But it's really long so I'll just put up the Elvish languages, and then consider if I should put up The Mannish, Orcish, Entish, and others. :P

  • lol no biggie Tolkien made so many langauges its confuseing.

  • Ooh, lovely song and video!

    ^.^

    PS: no PS

  • Despite being a rabid elf-hater, I cannot deny that this isn't a beautiful match. Youtube is one of the best things that ever happened to the Internet. I am now a fan of electro-classical music. 5/5

  • Is it the primitive elvish you can find f.e. in the "book of lost tales"???

Ive been to the lake district and thought - perfect Tolkien/Lórien/Rohan - Match!!

  • great! congratulations, i loved it!

    : D

  • Hmmm... Seems I'm limited to 500 characters in this comment space... Do you know where else on YouTube I can post lyrics?

  • Why not just put them in the description of the video?

  • Same issue - limited space. I'll give the lyrics to my webmaster to post on my website. It might take a while -- she's backlogged... ;->

  • Where did you learn to speak Elvish, I want to learn that language.

  • I recommend Helge Fauskanger's online tutorial on Ardalambion for Quenya and Thorsten Renk's "Pedin Edhellen" online course for Sindarin. These are more up to date with current Tolkien linguistic scholarship than the books in print that I've seen.

  • Elvish is a language of the much-hated pointy-eared folk, whom, no matter how magical and special they think they are, a .50 Barret Light or Desert Eagle round can send to the netherworld as easily as Average Joe Human. But, feel free to learn a nonexistant language if that tickles yer fancy. *rest of comment filled with generic anti-elf rhetoric and ramblings about a Final Solution to the Elven Problem"

  • No idea, post a link to your blog or whatnot in the About This Video section, and post the lyrics on yer blog.

  • Well, I am flattered that you'd like to see the lyrics. Since it is Primitive Elvish, I'm afraid the lyrics are a bit primitive as well! ;-> But they do describe the scenery you are seeing in the visuals, so here you go: enjoy!

  • A beautiful song and video! What are the lyrics?

  • Hello! Glad you liked the song and video! It's from the DVD "Ritual Path" -- the visual artist, John Banks, asked me to write lyrics in J.R.R. Tolkien's Elvish language. Are you familiar with Elvish?

  • Yup! I love Tolkien's languages! Are the lyrics Quenya or Sindarin?

  • Aha! I have a serious Tolkien fan here! Well, I decided to go all the way back to where it all began - primitive Elvish - to evoke a most ancient feeling...

  • WOW! I don't know of anyone who's tried to compose in Primitive Elvish before! Great work! Post the lyrics and translation please.
