There are around 5 and a half million million people living on the island of Ireland. From 1969-2005 there were about 10,000 people who entered the ranks of the Provisional IRA. That's over a period of 36 years..........10,000 people over 36 years is not a huge amount. The rest of us, thats about 5,490,000 of us roughly, never had anything to do with them.

Yes, the West and all its wonderful liberal ideas....building peaceful secular societies with one hand and strangling poorer countries with the other. Islam is a younger faith than Christianity and it will mature....we can see a new generation of forward-thinking Muslims emerging in the East, most notably in Iran. The verses in the Bible that instruct us to stone people are from a culture that is pretty much identical to the desert-thug tribal culture that gave birth to Islam. The difference is that Jews have progressed in the last 4000 years whereas Muslims haven't in over 1400. We don't stone gays because we're BETTER.

I am against the means of Hamas, not their aim of a Palestinian homeland. Of course I disregard the validity of polls unless they are a true reflection of the people they are attempting to study. No-one has ever polled the 1.4 million people in the Gaza Strip or the 2.3 million Palestinians in the West Bank and therefore the so-called 'poll' you cited lacks integrity.

Why does there have to be a "Palestinian" homeland? There is already an Arab homeland carved out of British Palestine that is several times larger than Israel: Jordon. The Arabs simply will not rest until the Jews are pushed into the sea. They tried it in 1948 and again in 1967 and were humiliated both times.
If you think being in government will have an ameliorating effect on Hamas then you're the fool. To be so multiculti you sure don't understand other cultures on their own terms.

Because the people of Palestine are an oppressed people. I cannot blame them for wanting to have a homeland where they can govern themselves. I've lived in Palestine. They are a people under siege. The poverty is horrendous, the Israeli government blocks much of the aid going into the area, children are prevented from getting to school (and we wonder why they get sucked into terrorist groups?). The Palestinians are 2nd class citizens, and my own people have experience of that.
