Yes, the new version are similar, a bit harder (more metal sounding) but a very small difference in the actual amp. The difference is more in the speaker, that mine has 2x10's instead of 1x12. Same speaker and they would be very similar.

Here are what I use.

The amp used in all the videos I have here is an Engl Sovereign 100 Vintage 210, a 2x10", all-tube combo (it is an older version, before they went totally metal). It has an Alesis MidiVerb 4 in the effects loop for delay, and that's it, no pedals or anything ells.

The guitar is a stock JEM7DBK with DiMarzio BREED pickups that is stringed with 0.10-0.46 strings.

The tune doesnt sound like Allan to me, but Allan was the only thing in my world when I wrote it.

So I took one word from each of my favorite Allan albums and made a name that makes no sense at all :-)

Most guitarists today are using their guitar to shred their brain away but you are one of the few who uses this in a decent way with a lot of feeling and emotion.

the trick on playing fast is not to play fast all the time with a million notes per second.. it's the experience to know when it sounds right and when it's wrong.

Magnus, you've always been one of my biggest influences (along with Shawn, my number one influence). This track is incredible. Wiljay is right, your phrasing reminds me of Shawn alot.

Lane is god and I'm not even at my best moments worthy being called a disciple.

Yes, I like having my action a bit higher then normal.

I get more tone out of my instrument. And it makes it "easier" to play clean, it makes legato and tapping ring out clearer and cleaner. It is a bit harder to play, but you get used to it fast.

I love this sooo much! Great song, great performance!! Your phrasing is so unique here and really brings it alive.

"Powers of Ten" by Shawn Lane is my all time favourite album... and i often used to imagine, IF there were any 'extra' songs Shawn wrote for that album, in that same style, WHAT would they sound like???... Well, THIS is about the only tune i've ever heard by another guitarist that i think would have sounded 'right at home' on "Powers of Ten". :-)
