  • All them cruds are just about gone on the UP.

  • Fly switching -- cool! :D

  • I just came home from being up in LA and i was lucky enough to catch a glimps of (what looked like) an sw1500 UP in behind a bunch of UP dash units. I wish i grabed some sort of number or picture off of it but i love these units :3 Good footage

  • excelent equipment!!!

  • Dont know what year this video was made, but if this video would have been made now, the guy in the red hat broke about 4 rules.

  • It's like a manual hump yard without the hump at 2:40. Nice vid!!

  • MOW that makees me want to to a lot of shipping with this company!

ooo i feel quiete exquisit yeah I do love the fact that people work on the lines like this

sorry drunk rush spelling mmm hmmmmmm!!!

  • @machapu I've seen your locos. Been on Amtrak Texas Eagle through there a couple of times! There are MANY switchers out there! Great video. Thanks for the posting. Don

  • Nice video, but I am a stickler for spelling so it's "their customers".

  • Man them switches need oiling.

  • That is so cool at 2:20

  • Used to live in Park Hills and have had the chance to rail fan in St Gen more than once. Never lucky enough to catch all this though. Must be traffic generated by the new cement plant????

  • It looks like there having a hard time with the switch to switch back!

  • Nive video how windy was it filming this video!

  • Lol I remember when I lived in North Dakota, we lived right by a railroad I was young so I went and played over there by the switch's. I even remember seeing a derailed train it was full was grain. As well played in it. Was about 9 now 14 :s.

  • Great vid and capture. I love watching switching manuvers as well as yard work. Keep them coming.

  • love the sound of a working switcher. good engineer also didnt hit um so hard

  • You've got to really admire these guys.

All types of weather, freezing cold steel and freezing switches,if not near frozen.

I couldn't do it because I don't like the cold.

My hat is not only off to them,it's raised in salute.

  • im surprised that they dont have both engines connected at the hood end. It provides a much better view for the engineer.

  • I work for a Rail Yard in East St Louis, Alton and Southern Railroad and we operate quite a few sw1500's and mp15s of various diffrent railroads. All the UP engines have a Computer in them for remote control operation. (thats what I do) we also have an old southern pacific engine (#1486) I operate these everyday!

  • @machapu That's awesome! You should have one them let me come up and film.

I haven't been up to the city to film anything yet. But I would love to. I know there's always all kinds of action going on up there. A lot more busy than the River Sub or Chester Sub.

  • @captianchunk You dont drive a red dodge ram do you? I saw someone in it taking pictures while I was on a sd-40 set shoving the hump. He looked excited.

  • @captianchunk there is always something to see! we have some people that hang out by valley junction, and some by the fresh wearhouse. Send me a personal message ill give you my regular email address and see what I can do

  • @machapu just caught sw 1500 1114 like it was going to scra almost @ end of train , i be posting video soon

  • For the record, they are GMTX units, not GATX.

  • @otef434 One in the same actually, if you know about business at all....

  • @DiesIraePL Yes I know business, but I also know that by GCOR, you refer to them by their lettering (which is also on the blue card) and not by assumed ownership.

  • I bet those 2 switchers could handle taking that train up north. No need for the big boys!

  • Nice to see those switchers working so hard! And those cars, there sure were some hard couplings when they rolled down the rails into each other. Must do a number on the cars over time. Great video though.

  • that was crazy how they were just free floating the cars to thier respected places 5/5 on this great footage loved it!!!!!

  • @CMRSclub. Called kicking. It's fairly common if you have a lot of single car cuts for different tracks. Fairly easy and safe once you get the hang of it.

  • How did you get this shot?

  • There is a public road right off the tracks and next to the yard. I just traveled up and down the road trying to get the best shots.

This is what it's like daily. If you ever run threw Ste. Genevieve is a nice little town to tour to.

  • Do you have any other videos of SW1500?

  • It MUST be freezing a** cold there. Good footage. :)

  • It was very cold that day and windy. The temp was around -5 with the wind chill

  • Watching these Switchmen Kick Cars sure brings back memories. Good Video

  • Granted they were in UP colors it's nice that all the UP power was in fact exSP units. Glad to see SP units still in service regardless of the paint they wear.

  • good video

  • i like the emd noise and the PC hoppers
