What happened to the Regal? I was expecting at least 300+ HP not a 4cyl that doesn't even hit 200hp and will only get about 25mpg. That's just sad. My 1998 Regal gets that kind of gas mileage and puts out a nice 240hp with a V6.
Turned out people overseas liked the car. So now, about 3-4 years later, we're finally going to get in the US the car we were supposed to be offered two years ago.
GM's problem isn't quality (my family has had several that have topped 200K and even 300K miles). It's building cars that people want. Look at this car. It's beautiful. It's fast. It's efficient. GM was planning on introducing it as the new Regal two years ago, but decided it was too "radical" to sport the Buick nameplate in the States, so it decided it would be a Saturn. Then it decided to scrap Saturn, so it was released finally as an Opel in Europe and as a Buick in China.
Not a good enough REGAL platform to make another GRAND NATIONAL GNX! Not to mention its not made in FLINT, MI or America! Since the US Government owns GM that car should be made here! The HELL with NEW GM!
Tesla makes some of the coolest American cars I've seen. Yes, the Roadster is essentially a re-badged and re-worked Lotus Elise/Exige, but the Model S....Nice!
Ford makes some decent cars nowadays, though some of those are from Ford of Europe.
GM is only just now starting to; they do own Opel after all, along with Britain's Vauxhall.
That leaves Chrysler. Well....I guess they're no longer "American" in a sense, now that they've been taken over by Italy's FIAT.
wrong sir, Ford makes excellent cars, better than japan or germany, and Im japanese so I know what good cars are. In fact Ford's quality control is rated better than bmw. But Gm and Chrylser dont make good cars
Chrysler makes mostly trash, I agree. but, GM??? Come on, uh, maybe Silverado, Equinox, Buick LaCrosse (beat a Lexus in Motor Trend), Camaro... etc. etc.
@FutureMarine246 i agree somewhat... gm and chrysler are terrible and ford is pretty good but in my opinion not better than german or japanese cars.. by the way im a 16 year old german lol just had to say that
Opel has now become the cream of the entry-level GM brands. By chucking the horizontal lightning bolt of Opel and slapping the tri-shield of Buick doesn't turn an Opel into a Buick, IMO.
Maybe Adam Opel would be the one leaping out of his grave back in Germany, *LOL*.
GM got smart, they're selling it's Euro GM cars in America. The recent American designed GM cars were crap, to say the least.

This, my friends, is an Opel; more specifically, an Opel Insignia.... a fine automobile no doubt.
But, I wonder: Would David Buick just leap out of his grave if he learned that a car bearing his name is just a re-badged German auto?
krislyttle 1 year ago
@krislyttle
GM has no choice just to keep rebadging
cars from overseas because nowdays
USA is unable to make a good one as
Germany Japan or Korea XP

Not quite.

@krislyttle and your point is? . . . Opel is a GM brand.

It's a little bit more than that.

I don't know if you realize it, but you can rent pretty much any car if you check the right places. You're just too negative...
