  • Good shot of Aristarcus -- the brightest crater on the Moon. The wavy images are produced by the Earth's atmosphere -- air currents. If you replay the video a couple times, you may be able to see a hint of some features inside the Aristarcus crater. It would be mice to know what type and size of telescope was used, eyepieces and type of camera.

  • Hi LunarDSO, the camera was a pocket digital Pentax Optio E30 (garden variety). I used and Antares 200mm Newtonian with an Orion 7.5 mm eyepiece for 133x magnification. Visually there were dark features running up the crater wall, but the video is compressed from approx 95mb down to 1mb so much clarity is lost. Clear Skies!
