i took nutrition classes and work in a sushi restaurant. sushi grade fish means that it was flash frozen before being packaged and sold. this is to kill microorganisms and parasites that could be in the fish. (but there are no laws governing the use of the term flash frozen, ie no specific temperatures), don't ever try eating grocery store fish completely raw unless you want to get sick.

There's a difference between regular fish and fish that could be used for sushi. Regular fish can't be eaten raw, whereas sushi fish is frozen AS SOON as they are caught and cut to seal out foreign contaminants.

@Gambling4Life Well the fish has been cured before being sold. Raw fish, or in this case, sushi especially, is almost completely safe. I've eaten Sushi since I was a little child. Your girlfriend, unless she has a thing with anything raw should have no problem eating it. Best/classic things to order would be anything with Tuna or salmon.

He doesn't go into actually how to make the 'sushi' part of it. This video indeed goes into how to make parts of it and it DOES include sashimi... Wiki defines ... It consists of very fresh raw meat, most commonly fish, sliced into thin pieces. Are you always this rude with people BTW?

step 2: chew the bite (Did you know that insufficient chewing can lead to digestive problems?)

step 3: swallow (you may find that the piece you have bitten off is still a bit too large to get down your throat, if that is the case simply chew a little more until it is smaller, then the swallowing should go nice and easy)
