A Friend of Mine who is a Muscisian used to have a Contract with one of Hollands Biggest Record Labels. The Label Forced him into having an Image that was Nothing Like Himself and forced him into playing Music he did not wanted to Make. He Told me that all the songs he wrote or that were written for him had to meet certain criteria before being accepted by the People at the Record Label. The Criteria to the song were given to him by Marketing Experts who werent Muscisians themselves.
These Marketing Experts that Give Song-Writers the Criteria to what they can and can't write is the reason why alot of music sucks. They limit Song-writers to writing Light songs with catchy tunes but with little lyrical Meaning and with little innovation due to the Limits they are given.
I have a theory. Music up until the 1980s was just a group of people coming up with something that sounds good on a musical instrument, putting meaning in it, and sharing it with the world, and making a living (ie. The Beatles didn't care about money they cared about music). Now a days it's an entire industry with workers, and share holders, who need to make sure the amount of income is maximized. I'm certain music is engineered in a lab with goal of making optimum profit. So music sucks now.

And no, the borders aren't vanishing. There's a big difference between Lady Antebellum and Foo Fighters. I mean, sure: both artists express some similarities, but they have lots of elements that are different. With genre crossing comes more subgenres, as I've said before.

But in the electronic genre it can offer an artist a whole new panel of creativity. There are countless other artists that use MIDI Pickups and Analogs with their instruments, too, tampering with the tune to offer a unique sound.

Sometimes I like to keep in mind that Rock-n-roll had a rowdy adolescent period and it was all party music. You really can't find any lyrical depth in "Rock Around the Clock". When the 70s came around, rock-n-roll "matured" into something more complex and sophisticated, and eventually it passed that baton to metal. Maybe all the electronica/pop music that is popular today might settle down and become more mature... at least I hope so.

A Friend of Mine who is a Muscisian used to have a Contract with one of Hollands Biggest Record Labels. The Label Forced him into having an Image that was Nothing Like Himself and forced him into playing Music he did not wanted to Make. I have a theory. Music up until the 1980s was just a group of people coming up with something that sounds good on a musical instrument, putting meaning in it, and sharing it with the world, and making a living (ie. The Beatles didn't care about money they cared about music). Now a days it's an entire industry with workers, and share holders, who need to make sure the amount of income is maximized. I'm certain music is engineered in a lab with goal of making optimum profit. So music sucks now.

And no, the borders aren't vanishing. There's a big difference between Lady Antebellum and Foo Fighters. I mean, sure: both artists express some similarities, but they have lots of elements that are different. With genre crossing comes more subgenres, as I've said before.

Love songs have been around since the beginning of time; people have always made songs about how they love somebody and what they'd do to win their hearts. But in the electronic genre it can offer an artist a whole new panel of creativity. There are countless other artists that use MIDI Pickups and Analogs with their instruments, too, tampering with the tune to offer a unique sound.

Sometimes I like to keep in mind that Rock-n-roll had a rowdy adolescent period and it was all party music. You really can't find any lyrical depth in "Rock Around the Clock". When the 70s came around, rock-n-roll "matured" into something more complex and sophisticated, and eventually it passed that baton to metal. Maybe all the electronica/pop music that is popular today might settle down and become more mature... at least I hope so.

I tried recently to start a classic rock band as i play guitar and people look at me and say classic what hahaha.
