Halo was suppose to be an RTS for the mac at first (it was basically the sci fi version of myth)
but bungie changed it to a role playing game, then to a third person. A year or two before halo 1's release Microsoft bought Bungie because they needed a game for they're new console. The Xbox (2001) and so Bungie accepted the offer. After all that bungie decided to turn the entire game into an FPS. and thus we got halo 1
Action-Adventure games, are adventure games that have combat in them. Adventure games are games where puzzle-solving and exploration are the key component in game play. If an adventure game works combat into it's game play, then it becomes an action-adventure game.
Action-Adventure games include the Uncharted Trilogy, (Silent Hill probably), the Legend of Zelda series, God of War, Metroid series, Pychonauts, etc.
A Role-Playing game is basically anything similar to Dungeons & Dragons. You create your own character, or take the role of playing a character, and then act as them in a fictional setting. The key trait of RPGs is customizing or upgrading your stats and skills. Other key traits of RPGs are buying different weapons and items to change your stats, gaining experience to level up your character, usually exploration, a large degree of freedom in the games, and etc.
A few examples of RPGs include the Fallout series, the Ultima series, the Elder Scroll series, Baldur's Gate, and Etc.
Japanese RPGs are essentially the same...I guess, except for they focus more on a linear form story telling, usually has made characters with set attributes and skills as opposed to a custom character, turn-based combat and etc.
Examples include Dragon Quest, Early Final fantasy games, Mother trilogy, etc.

I mean I'm no scientist but it seems to me that the original "Halo world" wasn't even on a ring planet. When the camera turns if this were on a Halo ring you would see the ring looping up and around. But you don't.
So while all of you have a little war about the macintosh issue. I must say i found the difference about the first glimpse the world of Halo. You cant see halo itself in the background!
They aren't on halo. There's no sweeping upward skyline. UNLESS halo was originally inhabitable on the OUTSIDE of the ring. GASP! Or they're just on a normal planet.

Microsoft saw Halo as an excellent launch game for their new console, the XBOX, and acquired Bungie. Since then Bungie developed only for Microsoft, however, Halo CE and Halo 2 were ported to the PC, and CE got a Mac port as well. Now Bungie's separate from Microsoft, and will probably go back to dev'ing for Mac.

Omg, you all got it worng.. The reason it has the apple logo on the flag is because the first Halo game (i am not talking about CE, but a game that never got released) was made on a Macintosh for a Macintosh.

@mcz1945 Actually in my opinion Halo : REACH was one of the best if not the best Halo Video - Game ever created, although it did have one main problem of also having the worst Halo Campaign although pretty much all of the other features made up for that, I think that they should have not made Halo : O.D.S.T as a separate Video - Game and instead integrate its Campaign style into Halo : REACH which would have probably gotten it Game Of The Year.

@SasquatchLegend I was there when Halo : Combat Evolved and Halo 3 came out, also, I don' t see how Halo : REACH is the worst Halo ever, apart from in Campaign everything about it is better than Halo 3 ; Multiplayer, Forge, Graphics and in general Gameplay. Also, the new Call Of Duty Video - Games don' t feel as " Magical " as Cal Of Duty 4 : Modern Warfare because they pretty much copied it 3 - 4 times decreasing the excitement of it, while Halo did the opposite.
@SasquatchLegend i still loved Reach's campaign, but Reach has best multiplayer, CE and ODST have best singleplayer, and Halo 2 by far has the best soundtrack. Halo 3 had the best maps though.

While mac only has a few computers from Apple to choose from, windows had multiple brands such as Samsung and acer, thus there's a wide variety of performances. I highly doubt mac is the best in the world, so the source you got that from is just bias. Hell I can find a few websites that state pc is better through a simple goggles search, but I'm kinda lazy haha.

Additionally, because the system is so lightweight on resources, you can make a fuller use of your hardware. Not to mention it can handle a lot of technical tasks with ease.The newest LTS release (12.04) is in April, so that will be fun for us all.

Apparently no one ever played Marathon in the early 90s. All you PC gamers can thank Bungie and Apple Computers for making internet gaming what it is. The overall gameplay of Marathon in 1992 is no different than Halo in 2012, and it wouldn't have happened on a PC (Doom was the best thing at the time...).
I'm glad they moved to Microsoft. Apple would have killed the project after the first one because Steve jobs hated video games. And apple computers are really bad for video games.

No, the game was originally going to be a action-adventure game before it became a third person shooter, not a role-playing game.
Also, I think it was turned into a FPS shortly before Microsoft bought it but after it was shown at MacWorld, but I think I could be wrong.

@mcz1945 Actually in my opinion Halo : REACH was one of the best if not the best Halo Video - Game ever created, although it did have one main problem of also having the worst Halo Campaign although pretty much all of the other features made up for that, I think that they should have not made Halo : O.D.S.T as a separate Video - Game and instead integrate its Campaign style into Halo : REACH which would have probably gotten it Game Of The Year.

Best FPS series, hands-down. But Reach... It didn't have the magic of Halo 3. Kinda how none of the CoD games will never again match the feeling of CoD 4, when it first came out. @SasquatchLegend I was there when Halo : Combat Evolved and Halo 3 came out, also, I don' t see how Halo : REACH is the worst Halo ever, apart from in Campaign everything about it is better than Halo 3 ; Multiplayer, Forge, Graphics and in general Gameplay. Also, the new Call Of Duty Video - Games don' t feel as " Magical " as Cal Of Duty 4 : Modern Warfare because they pretty much copied it 3 - 4 times decreasing the excitement of it, while Halo did the opposite.

While mac only has a few computers from Apple to choose from, windows had multiple brands such as Samsung and acer, thus there's a wide variety of performances. I highly doubt mac is the best in the world, so the source you got that from is just bias. Hell I can find a few websites that state pc is better through a simple goggles search, but I'm kinda lazy haha.

@faiz434 I say fuck Apple and MS. Build a computer of your own and put Ubuntu on it. It's prettier than Mac OS and runs smoother than any OS I have ever used. Additionally, because the system is so lightweight on resources, you can make a fuller use of your hardware. Not to mention it can handle a lot of technical tasks with ease.The newest LTS release (12.04) is in April, so that will be fun for us all.

Apparently no one ever played Marathon in the early 90s. All you PC gamers can thank Bungie and Apple Computers for making internet gaming what it is. The overall gameplay of Marathon in 1992 is no different than Halo in 2012, and it wouldn't have happened on a PC (Doom was the best thing at the time...).
