Your argument here is much, much better compared to your other videos, but you still have a warped understanding of public education, which leads me to believe you have been in private schools all your life. I'll address this in a moment.
You missed the first and very important component of Geoism/Georgism, "everyone owns what they create, but that everything found in nature, most importantly land, belongs equally to all of humanity." In your example, the person who by dumb luck, happenstance or fluke finds the iron did not invent the ore, he discovered it outside himself in Nature. There is a big difference between discovering and inventing. Geoism states you keep all income from invention and it is not subject to taxation.
The motivation is caring about your fellow neighbor's success as well as your own. I know this is very difficult for a selfish wasp to understand, but there are plenty of societies that measure happiness not by material wealth, but the mutual success of common humanity. Dont lecture me about the worth of competition. I am an athlete in my core. I was a starter on a public school team that won state, and I still compete in many aspects of life today. I know full well the power of Arete!
This is hysterical, so by grace of being born you have the right to someone else's discovery? Can you name one society that ever survived on that premise, let alone game anyone an incentive to turn resources into anything useful? I wouldn't waste my time mining ore if it wasn't considered mine, but everyone elses who had no idea it existed....
Look... You are trying to explain to this guy how human nature works - which, coincidentally, is HIS OWN nature too. Obviously, he does not follow this "geoism" himself. He is a hypocrite and a moron - he is in denial about who he is. Leave him alone.
John stossel just did a new show about education. Among other things he showed dirt poor african nations where poor people pay to send their kids to private school (rather than attend "free" public schools) and also that these private schools are better than public ones (and far cheaper).
Exactly. People will set up schools for their kids no matter what their level of income - that is, IF they value education for their children (and most people do).
The notion that without the public education system, the poor will be left without education is ABSURD.
Wow, Geoism?
Right on dude. Your spot on!
