Very solid work. I love the 16mm B&W feel and how the modern sounding music sets an off tone that accompanies the main character's frame of mind. Overall, the visual look sucks you in and the song choice itself suggests a mental visual (the see-saw, jumping up and down in place in a pattern over and over) that lends itself to the narrative. Good stuff. :)
I like this one very much. It has such irony. I think everyone feels like this sometimes. Like you're in some maddening circle of time that almost makes it feel like life is caught up in a whirlwind of routine, and then it hits you. You have this sudden moment of inner silence where you realize that you are a being that exists. That you are aware. And everything else after that is meaningless repetition.
Great framing (i.e. the car keys shot), love the use of real film, and the low angles are used very well to quickly convey a message (i.e. first time we see the protagonist with the extreme low angle instantly told me I'm about to go into his head).
Not a fan of the music outside of this film, but it definitely works in this with the mix of art cinema with a comedic narrative; really told me it's not trying to be a pretentious flick which usually puts me off of these films quickly.
This is a great concept and great execution. The music really works in evoking the emotional under currrent of the images. You have a great sense of framing and composition with foreground and background. It's very refreshing to view something shot on 16mm black and white film in a time when everyone is sucking the digital titty. Well done sir and I wish you the best in your future endeavors.
Nice video! To be honest, I don't listen to this kind of music, but the video looks great. Keep up the good work. Are you a professional or an amateur?
Great work. I especially loved the scene where the man was losing his mind running through the woods. There was a shot in particular that reminded me of Jack Nicholson from The Shining. I am excited to check out the rest of your channel.
Your film was shot very well... I really enjoyed the scene as he was losing his mind running through the woods. There was a shot that reminded me a lot of Jack Nicholson from The Shining. Good Work, I am excited to check out more of your channel.
Excellent! Loved it, loved the black and white photography, especially in the woods. Reminds me of hans richter and kenneth anger films, really, really good! Hoped you liked my stuff as well!
Nice work! I like how you capture the emotion through the visual. Excellent portrayal of the frustration and monotony of the everyday life. Very relate-able!
this was amazing in so many ways. The black and white was really well used - and the gorgeous inversed moments provided the perfect jolt...great lighting, the shots were fantastic, the acting right on, and of course, the use of the music superb. The only thing I would change is to have the credits separate from the film on simple black. those opening shots should be savored by themselves...
Oh man this was totally deep....loved it...supurb acting, editing and well just an all around cool video....I guess I can relate to this is some form and fashion...
I like B&W film....A guy once to some black and white photos of me once, working at a lobster pound, and it looked like it was back in the early 1900's..
This is amazing work. It captures the emotion of a mid life crisis and shooting it on 16mm black and white with the Moody Blues adds to it. Keep making movies. Your really good at this!
Brilliant piece of work and the choice of the Moodies was perfect for it. I laughed at the pile of paper dumped on his desk;) Good job, well done, maybe title should be "Stress in the workplace" lol! Cheers Billy ;)
This is heavy duty - love it (love the Moody Blues for one) - and the whole of this is really good. Wish I had the talent to make actual video - all I did was grab and throw pictures up to songs. What do you use as your video medium and also your editor? Thank-you for sending - this is great stuff...
@Masterpiecemovie Is there a reason why you recut it one (Avid) and then Final Cut? Just curious. Or is it just what program you had at the time when recutting? I would have loved to do a 16mm film, but never got the chance :\ Amazing film!
@nenshaproductions Good question! It was edited three different times... each one with a gap of several years... and the different formats were simply what was available to me at the time. When I started working full-time as an Avid editor, it gave me the ability to fix various imperfections from the flatbed edit... then I touched it up further before uploading to YouTube... and Final Cut is the system I have at home. Thanks for asking!
like the b+w style and the interior office scene had a bizarre david lynch feel - also, excellent lighting on the office interior

This was shot on 16mm B&W film, originally edited on a Steenbeck editing table, re-cut on Avid Media Composer & re-cut yet again on Final Cut Pro.
