The wind is what makes playing that course and that particular hole so tough. I watched the reconsturcion of that hole after the 2006 Players and the PGA loves that course and that hole. It is probably one of the most photographed and talked about holes in golf.

The better player won, but a playoff on the ridiculous 17th? I've played a number of Pete Dye courses, and always remember something someone once said - "they have too many sharp edges." Does anyone thing that Goydos hit a bad shot? NO - he caught a gust. That silly hole, so beloved by TV and the commentators is, IMHO, a travesty. It is virtually unplayable in a brisk tailwind.
