  • Love love love TOOL !!!

  • 9:20 - this black man is truely on LSD

  • Okay well your perception and statement is wrong that's okay. "Of god" isn't a good description of an Atheist.

  • @LanryLeeFefeby666 I'm a huge Tool fan and an Atheist as well, but I think the guy was just trying to say they're amazing. Which they are! No reason to drag the guy through the mud because of his choice of how to glorify a great band.

  • @Chrisbutrick95 Oh and by the way, it's impossible for someone's perception to be wrong, just different

  • looks like somone ate a stick of 5 gum...

  • I'm in that weird part of YouTu--oh, wait, just a Tool music video.

    (insert Chuck Testa joke here)

  • is it wrong that i get turned on when i watch this video?

  • why did he cut that kid open

  • Anyone else notice that the star changes from a pentagram to a hexagram at 3:06?

  • @NeutroNova and then to an octagram.

  • @NeutroNova i think that was on purpose, cuz next it zooms it has 7 outside seeds...

  • Tool always seems to have the most bizarre and awesome videos.

  • Anyone who actually knows how to listen to music and interpret it correctly, after listening to this song, would know that we humans are further more than the "society" that we are. We are sacred, this body is sacred; this "society" doesn't show us that.

  • Lol, the beginning reminds me of that episode of South Park where everyone shits out of their mouths. XD

  • the suited guys look like the creature with no eyes in pan's labyrinth.

  • Its strange that iv'e found video's weirder than Bjork's.

  • what i love most about tool is every time you hear a song you find something in it that you didn't catch the first time. and everytime you hear a song you love it a little more than the last time

  • The profound significance of which I have yet to really grasp.

  • Tool is the Coldplay of prog rock.

  • @octoworm

Tool isn't "the Coldplay of prog rock", fuck, Tool isn't the Coldplay of anything. The only thing Tool "is of", is God. That sentence actually makes sense.

  • @rolandocbf Both bands present very vanilla, unchallenging distillations of their respective genres. Both have capitalized on the pioneering efforts of predecessors. Coldplay aped Radiohead and Tool aped King Crimson. Even the most original aspect of Tool - their music videos - are highly derivative of the Quay Brothers.

  • @octoworm

Tool transcend any defined genre and have made their own. Also their music has evolved since the start. Everything about Tool is original. They've had no predecessors.

  • @octoworm "Tool aped King Crimson". It would be nice if you elaborated on your point.

  • @rolandocbf One is total shit...the other is made up, so it makes no sense at all :p Are you one of the people they're referring to in Ticks and Leaches? :)

  • @rolandocbf The fact that Maynard is an atheist directly contradicts your statement.

  • @ZMan1209

    No it doesn't.

  • @ZMan1209 No it doesn't. Someone's perception of him doesn't need to include his own beliefs. If someone holds him in that regard, his personal beliefs don't matter.

  • @xeropressure You make a better point than just "no it doesn't."

  • @ZMan1209

I wasn't making a point, I was making a statement. Anyways now you know better, congratz.

  • thats why i like tool so much. their music&videos never dissapoint

  • @nivenheim yes

  • And these dudes must have expiramented with some dmt.

  • Tool makes the most interesting videos of any artist that i have ever seen. Truly an exeptional band.

  • @lance0819

yea, Tool isn't creating those videos though.

  • @Uubmaster To be more specific, it's the guitarist, Adam Jones.

  • Comment removed

  • tricky did a tour with them for this album and did a version of "reflection" that was pure stellar action.....he also stared in a movie called....the fifth element :)

  • 7:18 FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU x)

  • you people are beyond pretentious stop putting together big words you dont understand into meaningless sentences your not philosophers your twats

  • @pinkversuswhite19 everyone is a philosopher people can translate this how they want

  • it was better in shittier quality

  • Wow! I only have a very slight idea what the video/song is about because there are so many meanings to every object and acts in the video that bring alternate definitions to the lyrics. But I am sure of one thing- I have never seen something as visually stimulating and thought provoking in a song as this piece of art. I wish every song was this weird.

  • we are all one. the experiences we experience are only in our brain. we created ourselves. we are just our own imagination. material items dont matter andneither does the size of your bank account or dick. the end.

  • @nivenheim Yes it is. Tricky did in fact play the lead role in this.

  • psychedelics+Tool=shamanic experience...if you have the balls

  • I think this is their best song of all their albums.

  • Transcendentalism

  • wasnt untill i was stoned did i realise the meaning behind the start of the video, fat corporate assholes destroying all that is sacred and natural and talking shit in circles

  • @Griffo515 sweet, i got mega high and didnt realise that. i got from my watch, the levitating ball represents the consciousness of all the purity and things that are inevitable which lies deep withim(once he touches it, he becomes aware of it and thus it grows) then his little paranoid, ecstatic being is crushed by this overwhelming power of truth and purity. then at the end with the leaf, he becomes one with this great force and connected with that infinite consciousness

  • why did he cut the poor thing?

  • Maynard's voice takes my mind to a different place, above and beyond the recognised parameters of musical enjoyment, to alight upon a whole new experience.

  • Kundalini :)

  • you should try to export with 320kbps audio quality next time. that would make it truly HQ.

  • man tool is badass.

  • it somehow looks like a more creepy Pink Floyd video.

    genius

  • creeepy

  • this is a great example of a song you can't ever appreciate on a superficial level; you really have to immerse yourself in it to enjoy it. and i am.

  • Oh acid

  • THIS ISN'T HQ

    FUCK

  • This is sick... AND SO FUCKIN AWESOME!

  • 2 maniacs do not like this.

  • They've made the perfect song.

  • 3:03 0_o wtf?

  • When I really get into this area of music I think much deeper on meaningful subjects and intrests in my life..This really is some deep shit..

  • thats so sad wat happens to the gray little guy

  • after the first chorus when he just says ALIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE! it's just simply orgasmic....so much energy and emotion into that single word....amazing....

  • I wouldn't want to be imprisoned in Tool's universe...sh*t keeps flying the hell around oo

    Awesome band anyways :D

  • Comment removed

  • Celebrate this chance to beeee!! alive and breathing!!

  • Thx for this hq version, now we only need a real HD version a.k.a 1080 :) But anyways, respect for upload... & all the f*****g respect I can ever give to tool.

  • This could quite possibly be the most interesting video in the history of mankind O_O; Tool reminds me of a modern day Pink Floyd. Such beauty and complexity. Only the chosen few, witch are the fans of Tool can understand the verbal masterpieces delivered by Maynard.

  • God damn, this is a GREAT video with a GREAT song. Amazing in every way.

  • At 8:50 I start shaking, I don't stop, I nearly start crying from the....Beauty...

  • incredible song.

  • hq? not really.

  • @EinJemand92

    Yeah really.

  • I dropped acid and watched this video one time before longest and tripiest ten hours of my life

  • Tool = A Prophet From The Beginning Of Creation

  • Not many things can make me feel the way this video does...So eerie. Frickin love it.

  • tool is so eye opening, to me this about humans being here as an inhabitant not as an owner.

  • i never thought about it like that, make you think huh.

  • The song makes me think about the subjectivity of it all.

The light in your eyes and the gases in your nose and the nerve cells and the resulting electrical currents and whatever the brain does with it surely must be something quite *not* applicable to how it all actually is.

That's funny, because once you realise that you start to look around and think "whoa, what my eyes see is sure the result of what is there, but how I see it might be as far from the truth as GW Bush's speeches!"

  • haha nicely put mate :)

if you are really interested in that stuff you should read some Philosophy... or maybe you already have. Descarte talks a lot about the 'fallibility of the senses' you would like it I think (though he does reach some pretty random conclusions.... (in my opinion

  • @Sidar654231

    cool story bro

  • you almost had something until you cunted up the comment with a GWB quip

  • @Sidar654231 COOL STORY BRO

  • @Sidar654231 or obamas speeches haha

  • i don't even know what makes half of these noises but that makes me love tool so much more

  • very good but why does everyone seem to have a problem acknowledging this is BOTH Parabol AND Parabola??? They may be the same lyrics and the two sides to the same song but they are in fact two songs people!!!!

  • I didnt see a biblical association, i see it as life is neverending and just a product of chaos. everything transitions from one form to another. the chords kind of mimic that by rising and falling in the same patterns.

  • wierdest video of the century!

  • The end is so epic and amazing when kundalini rises through his body.

  • i like the intro way better than the song tbh.

  • Why are you commenting on my video about your suit when you do not even have one, thanks for voting down my video you are obviously disturbed and part of the problem with modern life hope that karma hits you like a truck

  • interpert the song anyway you want to its still fuckin good

  • The guy in the video is Tricky, formerly from Massive Attack. Another great artist.

  • yeah, tricky :D

  • I thought so.... Thank you.....

  • Ok the songs called Parabola which in maths is a plane curve of two lines which infinitely go on forever and never intersect or meet for that matter. Now the apple is something we are fed and eat as well which happens to be the forbidden fruit of eden. When the apple is cut it first shows the star of david then a heptagram which is associated to perfection which in early centuries assimilated and used as the symbol of god.

  • the association between god and a parabola is that religion goes forever it never ends because it never started. god was never real. Just like the lines in the curve of the parabola they never meet what was told will never become true. It is false a lie a foil of man and men to come.

Eat the apple question the bible and its people then you will see what is good or evil, what contradicts or not, what is false or not, what is death or life.

listening gives one thing, to look gives the other

  • Not to mention that the applewas cut the wrong way, through the side.

  • let me put this to rest.

sure, the music itself is good, but the album artwork (if it's good) puts another whole new dimension to the music.

for artists like Tool, don't torrent or even buy from iTunes. buy the album, and behold the genius brought forth,

  • 100 Billion percent agree.

  • @Kw1q51lv3r like they said in the book of their story.

    i bought yesterday opiate

  • @Kw1q51lv3r Tool

  • @Kw1q51lv3r hehe, tool's music isn't even on itunes^^

  • @Kw1q51lv3r thats exactly what i did. the little flip book in the Lateralus album is unbelievable.

  • @Kw1q51lv3r yep, that is exactly how one handles art!

  • @Kw1q51lv3r No -- torrent the album, and then attend live shows and buy swag.

The artists get a much greater percentage of profit from those, so you can overall give them _more_ and the RIAA and other scumbags _less_.

  • @Kw1q51lv3r

    true story

  • This vid s a bit scary, if i may say soo.

    Awsome song, great band.

    But the vid is like.....

Like nothing i have ever seen be4.

    AWSOME!

  • ummm...watch many Tool videos??? they are ALL like that!

  • whats with comments getting removed, thats just bull shit

  • Comment removed

  • do not download- buy this- support tool.

  • Douche

  • why cant I find Tool on Itunes? seriously? I thought they had everything...

  • Tools against music sharing and wants to people to buy CDs instead

  • Tool considers their artwork part of the package, and they put a lot of effort in the design of the CD cases, just look at 10.000 Days, Lateralus or even Aenima. iTunes just gives you a file, where's the long term value on that? Anyway come on 2011! I want another Tool masterpiece :D

  • I some dude try to perform this during kareoke the other night...it was a good break from the country they were playing.

  • God....every time i get high i have to watch this and stink fist! TRIPPY AS HELL

  • thank god i do the same thing.i thought i was the only one lol

  • leur chansons sont extra leur clips ont souvent le même principe

  • i love how its al peaceful at the end of this song, then ticks and leeches comes blasting on and blows the shit out of your speakers and almost makes you crash your car

  • no that's just the LSD

  • haha i can relate to that

  • know exactly what your talking about

  • I second relating to that lol

  • How about having issues with listening to Aenima and the extremely high pitched noises they put in them. Like in stinkfist, for no apparent reason a high pitched screeching sound comes on and forced u to either plug your ears or turn the stereo down for a few moments. tool really needs to remaster some of their music (especially Aenima) and get rid of those screeches.

  • HAHAHAHAHA ahhhh shit dude, every time i hear the very end of this song...I think of ticks and leeches and Danny Carey blowing my face off with those sick drums...awesome, man...

  • its just "alive" not "alive,I"

  • dont get me wrong, but this is the song that made me buy gh world tour. swear to god. i found out this was on it, and i was all gung ho about getting it after that. THATS how amazing this song is.

  • too bad Parabol isnt on there, just Parabola.

  • no, actually they're both in the video.

  • This song is on Guitar Hero World Tour??? I didn't know that! Now I gotta get it.

  • actually i read on songfacts that the song is based around the number phi which evidently effects life.

  • seems to me like what its saying is that you haev to struggle and look into dark places to find who you are, to open your third eye.

    just my thought on it

  • That's what I got from it.

  • where can i download the full virsion of this. cuz alot of it misses the first part.

  • why is the whole video on a grey box?!

  • It's not the WHOLE video on a grey box. Pay attention. The grey box dissapears when the man finds himself out in the woods and becomes One with the One Spirit that surrounds us all. It's when he can REALLY SEE and THINK "out of the box". Just my opinion though..

  • thats you in the grey box.

  • so so amazing.

  • The quality of this video is amazing. One of the best I've seen on Youtube.

  • pure genius

  • true.

  • very hq cut of this vid & best yet, doesnt have all those queefy watermarks every other uploader puts on their vids. good job.

  • remember that these videos were created by the band's guitarist, Adam Jones. An interview with MJK revealed that the song had little to do with the video, but they both work well together. Weird if you ask me, cause I think "work well together" is a giant understatement.

  • This is such a fantastic video.

  • na ez a nem mindegy

  • This video have some secret message? because its kind of.. akward.. ;O

  • ok so i just watched this on acid, and uhh.. yeah....

  • ever watched the Crazy video by Gnarles Barkley while trippin?

  • thanks for postin' :)

  • we are eternal

  • and all this pain is an illusion.

  • fqin awesome

    10x for sharing this m8

  • KICK ASS!!!
