@LanryLeeFefeby666 I'm a huge Tool fan and an Atheist as well, but I think the guy was just trying to say they're amazing. Which they are! No reason to drag the guy through the mud because of his choice of how to glorify a great band.
Anyone who actually knows how to listen to music and interpret it correctly, after listening to this song, would know that we humans are further more than the "society" that we are. We are sacred, this body is sacred; this "society" doesn't show us that.
what i love most about tool is every time you hear a song you find something in it that you didn't catch the first time. and everytime you hear a song you love it a little more than the last time
Tool isn't "the Coldplay of prog rock", fuck, Tool isn't the Coldplay of anything. The only thing Tool "is of", is God. That sentence actually makes sense.
@rolandocbf Both bands present very vanilla, unchallenging distillations of their respective genres. Both have capitalized on the pioneering efforts of predecessors. Coldplay aped Radiohead and Tool aped King Crimson. Even the most original aspect of Tool - their music videos - are highly derivative of the Quay Brothers.
Tool transcend any defined genre and have made their own. Also their music has evolved since the start. Everything about Tool is original. They've had no predecessors.
@rolandocbf One is total shit...the other is made up, so it makes no sense at all :p Are you one of the people they're referring to in Ticks and Leaches? :)
@ZMan1209 No it doesn't. Someone's perception of him doesn't need to include his own beliefs. If someone holds him in that regard, his personal beliefs don't matter.
tricky did a tour with them for this album and did a version of "reflection" that was pure stellar action.....he also stared in a movie called....the fifth element :)
Wow! I only have a very slight idea what the video/song is about because there are so many meanings to every object and acts in the video that bring alternate definitions to the lyrics. But I am sure of one thing- I have never seen something as visually stimulating and thought provoking in a song as this piece of art. I wish every song was this weird.
we are all one. the experiences we experience are only in our brain. we created ourselves. we are just our own imagination. material items dont matter andneither does the size of your bank account or dick. the end.
wasnt untill i was stoned did i realise the meaning behind the start of the video, fat corporate assholes destroying all that is sacred and natural and talking shit in circles
@Griffo515 sweet, i got mega high and didnt realise that. i got from my watch, the levitating ball represents the consciousness of all the purity and things that are inevitable which lies deep withim(once he touches it, he becomes aware of it and thus it grows) then his little paranoid, ecstatic being is crushed by this overwhelming power of truth and purity. then at the end with the leaf, he becomes one with this great force and connected with that infinite consciousness
Maynard's voice takes my mind to a different place, above and beyond the recognised parameters of musical enjoyment, to alight upon a whole new experience.
after the first chorus when he just says ALIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE! it's just simply orgasmic....so much energy and emotion into that single word....amazing....
Thx for this hq version, now we only need a real HD version a.k.a 1080 :) But anyways, respect for upload... & all the f*****g respect I can ever give to tool.
This could quite possibly be the most interesting video in the history of mankind O_O; Tool reminds me of a modern day Pink Floyd. Such beauty and complexity. Only the chosen few, witch are the fans of Tool can understand the verbal masterpieces delivered by Maynard.
The song makes me think about the subjectivity of it all.
The light in your eyes and the gases in your nose and the nerve cells and the resulting electrical currents and whatever the brain does with it surely must be something quite *not* applicable to how it all actually is.
That's funny, because once you realise that you start to look around and think "whoa, what my eyes see is sure the result of what is there, but how I see it might be as far from the truth as GW Bush's speeches!"
if you are really interested in that stuff you should read some Philosophy... or maybe you already have. Descarte talks a lot about the 'fallibility of the senses' you would like it I think (though he does reach some pretty random conclusions.... (in my opinion
very good but why does everyone seem to have a problem acknowledging this is BOTH Parabol AND Parabola??? They may be the same lyrics and the two sides to the same song but they are in fact two songs people!!!!
I didnt see a biblical association, i see it as life is neverending and just a product of chaos. everything transitions from one form to another. the chords kind of mimic that by rising and falling in the same patterns.
Why are you commenting on my video about your suit when you do not even have one, thanks for voting down my video you are obviously disturbed and part of the problem with modern life hope that karma hits you like a truck
Ok the songs called Parabola which in maths is a plane curve of two lines which infinitely go on forever and never intersect or meet for that matter. Now the apple is something we are fed and eat as well which happens to be the forbidden fruit of eden. When the apple is cut it first shows the star of david then a heptagram which is associated to perfection which in early centuries assimilated and used as the symbol of god.
the association between god and a parabola is that religion goes forever it never ends because it never started. god was never real. Just like the lines in the curve of the parabola they never meet what was told will never become true. It is false a lie a foil of man and men to come.
Eat the apple question the bible and its people then you will see what is good or evil, what contradicts or not, what is false or not, what is death or life.
listening gives one thing, to look gives the other
Tool considers their artwork part of the package, and they put a lot of effort in the design of the CD cases, just look at 10.000 Days, Lateralus or even Aenima. iTunes just gives you a file, where's the long term value on that? Anyway come on 2011! I want another Tool masterpiece :D
i love how its al peaceful at the end of this song, then ticks and leeches comes blasting on and blows the shit out of your speakers and almost makes you crash your car
How about having issues with listening to Aenima and the extremely high pitched noises they put in them. Like in stinkfist, for no apparent reason a high pitched screeching sound comes on and forced u to either plug your ears or turn the stereo down for a few moments. tool really needs to remaster some of their music (especially Aenima) and get rid of those screeches.
HAHAHAHAHA ahhhh shit dude, every time i hear the very end of this song...I think of ticks and leeches and Danny Carey blowing my face off with those sick drums...awesome, man...
dont get me wrong, but this is the song that made me buy gh world tour. swear to god. i found out this was on it, and i was all gung ho about getting it after that. THATS how amazing this song is.
It's not the WHOLE video on a grey box. Pay attention. The grey box dissapears when the man finds himself out in the woods and becomes One with the One Spirit that surrounds us all. It's when he can REALLY SEE and THINK "out of the box". Just my opinion though..
remember that these videos were created by the band's guitarist, Adam Jones. An interview with MJK revealed that the song had little to do with the video, but they both work well together. Weird if you ask me, cause I think "work well together" is a giant understatement.
