  • this is such a hilariuos show!I saw it on Novemeber 23 while in NYC,-I hope it'll cross here in West End soon. The cast were really great, headed by Roger Bart. I think it outdone "The Producers".The sets were just amazing!

  • i was there on the 23rd too and it was amazing. Chris Fitzgerald was amazing that day!!

  • very enjoyable performance!

  • cool

  • I sing to this as I view it.

  • I <3 this show!!! Funniest show I have ever seen

  • Awesome! I didn't know sutton did this show. Love her, the choreography is great also. :)

  • It is such a good show. I saw it in June (although Frederick and Kemp were understudies,) and it was great.

  • i've seen it 4 times and it sooooo good!!!

  • Love the way Mel does a flashy Broadway treatment to ANYTHING, even stuff that's supposed to be scary or serious. The Spanish Inquisition, Nazis, prison, and now monsters! LOL

  • I love it. I saw it live. With mostly the original cast. Its simply amazing. :)

  • this musical was soooo amazing!!!! i love it soo much. i went with my marching band and saw it on broadway. roger bart is related to someone in my band so we got to meet him =D i have his autograph on my playbill. agh, this musical was soooo good<3333

    <3

  • I SAW THIS!!! IT WAS AWSOME!!!

  • ncghjsenm adsf happy

  • i love this show its hilarious!!!

  • This show is amazing i just saw it i highly recomend it

  • I saw this show last night! It was so funny and fun to watch! I have no idea why the reviewers hate it! There is no reason to hate this show!

  • They probably DON'T hate it, but it's their job to point out where there can be improvement. They're like the editors for books. When the people involved in the show read the reviews, they try to improve on their mistakes and remember what needs work and what is fine the way it is.

  • The only review that really hated it was the New York Times, and we think that guy was haviga bad day... o Mel Brooks had offended him beforehand which is also quite likely.

  • By "that guy" I assume you mean Ben Brantley? If so, he wasn't having a bad day- he really rips into most shows.

  • I think wmgrad2b is right about it not winning best musical, but I saw it on Bway, and I'd be surprised if Roger Bart wasn't at least nominated, and I'd be REALLY surprised if Chris Fitzgerald didn't win Best Featured Actor. He stole the show. Roger was excellent, too. Sutton was nursing a sprained ankle, so I didn't get to see her :( But she's always nominated, so I see her getting another nom. BTW, Chris and Roger are SUPER nice guys if u can get to the stage door.

  • Roger and Chris sound like REALLY nice guys, but Sutton seems like too much of a diva. Maybe it's just because she's always the lead female, or because of all of her nominations, but I think her head is getting a LITTLE too big for her shoulders!

  • Actually, she was very nice when I met her. I didn't hassle any of them for autographs, but they were all very humble when we told them that they had done a fantastic job - especally Roger, Chris, and Andrea.

  • Ah. Sorry; I probably misinterpreted her energy or something for diva-ness. Wait a sec - who's Andrea?

  • She is very high energy and kind of goofy - had a huge smile on the entire time I spoke to her.

    Andrea Martin plays Frau Blucher.

  • lol, sounds like a lot of the kids in my school's theatrical group, both past and present!

Ah. Thank you for clearing that up!

  • Andrea Martin played Frau Blucher in younge frankenstein

  • how did you meet them???

  • Me? I waited at the stage door after the show. They're all very nice - I would just recommend not hassling them for autographs and such (not that they complained when others asked, it just seems a bit rude to me to hassle people who are probably exhausted from performing all day).

  • i always wait for autographs,i soooooooooo wanna meet Christopher Fitzgerald, when i saw this show i went with a school group so we couldn't wait for autographs =[

  • Don't worry, I got to go backstage and I didn't gety his sig. You probably wouldn't have gotten his anyway, he and Roger Bart were the omly two who didn't come out for me and from what I could get from the security people at the theatre, he almost never comes out anyway... But meeting Sutton Foster was the coolest.

  • Hey man, don't be hatin' on my sutton!

  • i know that the vocals were recorded, but it still looks like they are actually singing!

  • Yowza, Sutton looks awesome as a blonde!

  • I agree. I think she should go blonde.

  • she'd be wearing a wig, right? that's a REALLY good wig.

on another note, the dancing is razor sharp, and sutton does a perfect job out in front, as usual

  • I'm going 2 see this play in NY with my school's theater club this April. I am sooooo excited!!!!!

  • my sister is in this video :) thanks for posting this!

  • who is your sister?

  • She's the Merchant Marine cadet at the very end on the left.

  • This show has a lot of things going for it, but nore of the magic of the producers. I predict this show winning set and costumes but nothing else. I see Xanadu or In the Heights getting best musical and score or at least book.

  • sutton foster is amazing!!!! i can't stop singing her praises!

  • SNAP! =D

  • If those vocals weren't recorded then I don't know what is

  • yeah thats too bad...

  • With them being outside they needed to do that in the theater they have complete control and they needed there so they had to record it.

  • that's what you gotta do when you're outside and dancing like that.

  • Greatest Show Ever!

  • Saw the show in NY and the cast is AWESOME! Got to meet Megan, Roger and Andrea. If you haven't already, you need to get the YF cd of iTunes..has a bonus track of Megan sining Transylvania Mania (blues). Seeing the cast sing this was beyond words!!

  • Is this show coming to San Francisco? Has it already come? If someone could give me some info I would be so happy :]

  • It prolly will goto SF in a year or so. but it wont be ther original cast. It was in Seattle for its premire but its worth the trip to goto New York I've seen it over 20 times and its just as amazing each time.

  • Twenty times! I envy you, I want to see it just once and I'll be happy.

  • i am so jealous!! i want to see it, i wish i could have seen it with the obc =[

  • did yo see it at all?

  • no =[

i would love to see it with anyone, just with the obc especially.

    have you?

  • I thought that show was fantastic. I thought the sets were phenomenal, the lighting was awesome, and the actors were great as always. Roger Bart really pulled through with this one, and I was really happy that he was back to perform after completely screwing up his back.

  • I saw it today! Not my favorite show, but it wasn't too bad. Music was kind of blah, but the sets were good and so were the effects. Sutton Foster was good as usual. And Megan Mullally was also good. Who knew she could sing? Oh and gotta love Andrea Martin in this!

  • I actually SAW it on Broadway. It is okay, I guess. I do NOT see it sweeping the Tonys. But i must admit the women were good and the monster was near perfect. If anything is getting recognition, its the "Puttin On The Ritz" number, which makes up for the rest of the play.

Oh, and in the play Roger Bart DOES have blond hair. No facial hair, though.

  • really? cause i've seen the show 3 times and he's had facial hair every single time.

  • weekend spent in ?

  • "its the weekend spent in Biarritz"

  • thanks

  • sorry, thanks to bronte604

  • YOUNG FRANK. IS GOING TO SWEEP THE TONYS!

ahh i was at the premere in seattle

    so fantastic

  • where's igor's hump? why doesn't frankenstein have blonde hair? whatever...but how many Mel Brooks plays have been on Broadway now? :) he rocks

  • Igor's hump is on his left. You can see it most clearly at the beginning. And why should Frankenstein have blonde hair? It isn't really distinctive of his character.

  • oh...thanks! i just couldn't see it when he started dancing...I just wondered because Wilder had blonde hair, but you're right, it doesn't really matter!

  • for your third question-- this mel brooks' 2nd play on broadway (the first is the producers)

  • i think its better than the producers

  • Sutton is charming as always but the choreography isn't Susan Stroman's best work.

  • lol...i love this song and dance! i just randomly started doing it at my friend's Grandmas house. its fun!this is sooooooo awesome! thanks for posting it!

  • why dont u just listen and write them down???

  • I believe this is the cast recording. It isn't live I know that much, and it wouldn't make sense for them to record it twice!

  • This is the recording on the CR.

I agree, I think I like the today show performance better, too.

  • no offence to these actors and actresses but i prefered marty feldman and gene wilder, i know they probably can't sing or dance but i think they fit the part better, mainly because they set the character

  • oooh cant wait! hopefully goin to this in june! yehhhh! LOVE YOU ROGER CANT WAIT TO SEE YOU!!!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • "I don't wanna wear this no more

Play the saucy Swiss Miss no more"

    -Sutton Foster, Drowsy Chaperone

Hmmm...very coincidental. Now she's straight off a box of hot chocolate. Loves it.

And there's something Fraggle-Rock-Muppet-ish about her expression when the three of them fly by the camera near the end. I dunno, maybe it's just me. It works so well though. She has a fully developed style all her own and it's amazing.

  • haha nice catch with the "Show Off" lyrics!!

    Very awesome irony :D

  • eh? where, homo

  • does anyone kno the lyrics to this???i love it and i wanna do it for a school thing

  • Ahh. Sutton Foster is the definition of talent :]

I loved her in the Drowsy Chaperone too.

  • sutton foster is the rachael ray of broadway ... in a good sense

  • Rachael Ray (?).

She reeeaaly rocks by the way!! :D

  • lol i was going hysterical when i saw this in my basement. and my sister was sleeping down there (??) and she sat up and was like shut the hell UUPP.

i luv roger bart<3333 i hope he gets better. even if i'll never be able to see him. damn.

  • I'm seeing this Jan. 10th!! Can't wait!!

  • You do know that they aren't singing, they are lipsynching to a recording, possibly the one they did for the cast album. Every performer at the parade, lipsynches. So, if it seems that Roger and Chris aren't putting in enough character it's because they are restricted by what they recorded.

The Today show performance of this is a bit better since they didn't lipsynch.

  • Roger's also got the bad back.

  • oh yes of course, in most other performances you could tell they were not really singing haha YF cast members actually did a good job at it. I know when youre recording and not actually performing it will not be the same but i mean i was just a little suprised. I wasnt trying to diss them, Roger Bart is 1 out of 2 of my favorite actors.

  • Well, you're partly correct. A few hours before they actually perform, they have a dress rehearsal. The cast really does sing and that recording is the one heard. So, they are lipsynching, but they are lipsynching to what their singing that they did an hour before. It's not the cast album.

  • no offense... but how do you know if its the cast recording or not?

  • Because I know what the cast recording sounds like..

  • but how? it doesnt come out for like another month!

  • well, I meant I know what the cast recording sounds like for the other shows in the parade, and since they usually follow the same procedure regarding the Broadway shows throughout the parade, I assumed it was the same for YF. It's not really that big of deal..

  • haha it does seem like roger and chris are not putting the character into the voice on this performance. Just igor's voice and the "WHAT HAVE I DONE!?!

  • Fronkensteins ses that line

  • This is a great production number. I would love to see this on Broadway!!! I heart Sutton Foster and her fabulous kicks (3:20) - one of the true triple threats of today. Thanks for sharing!

  • that is me at the end of the VIDEO!!! The one clapping and looking into the camera in Uniform!!

  • I love it! I can't wait to see it!

  • young frankenstein!!!! roger bart!!!!

  • is it me or does sutton foster look like Belle, despite the blonde wig...i just think that blue was a poor choice for that costume...I do love the costume even in that color but not for that character...it needed to be like green or pink or something...i'm like waitiung for her to pull out a book and basket...

  • i thought this song would be better.. huh.

  • Yay! Young Frankenstein!!! Thanks Jennifer!
