If anyone has tried a Theramin who also plays an instrument you'll know it's about as far removed from a piano keyboard as you can get - it's not simply a case of hitting a wrong note as in on a keyboard - that's why Jarre improvises a lot with it because it's a very difficult instrument to play but he has fun - and if he has fun all us fans do too :-)

What are you guys talking about? Hes not playing wrong notes. This was the way he's been playing this song since the Oxygene tour of 2008. I don't like it, but it's not playing the notes 'wrong' that makes it sound like that.

@rojman123 Indeed, if anyone should decide who is playing the right or wrong notes, it should be JMJ himself, if he happens to hit a bum note, that's just live, it happens, makes it more real! I did notice the timbre sounded slightly different to the original though, but if you've ever patched an analogue, you'll know why. ;)

At least jean Michel, Dominique, Francis and Claude perform this difficult track totaly live. Love the improvisations they make when things go wrong. Great stuff guys

Oxygene 2 , a super track but he just plays so many wrong notes at the chorus - not just 'different notes but wrong notes that sound poor. Shame.

That's due to analog tuning drift, not wrong notes. Analog synths are prone to that, and it only gets worse when they're 30+ years old. But yeah, it sounds bad.

Yeah, it does sound bad. That's not just Analogue drift but Jarre not knowing the correct notation to that sequence. And besides, I wish the sound took priority over the use of an unreliable Memorymoog for such a critical part. What worries me about these 'live' renditions is they may give a poor example to anyone who is just discovering Jarre classics.

He didn't play wrong notes. When I was to the first (!!) concert of Oxygen in december 2008 in Paris (Theater) He had also problems with this song. The memory moog failed. He had to restart it live !! ;)
