  • this scene i've had on dvd !! on my have

  • James Cameron made a very serious error involving Molly Brown when she wanted to go back and the asshole told her he would throw her overboard She did NOT sit meekly down ! In fact quite the opposite Molly Brown took over the till and told Him that and HE shut the hell up! why JC chose to do portray her like a scard intimindated woman in that scene is a mystery known only to him

  • @bobmarleyisgod1

In addition, the crew of Titanic hadn't worked together before, which explains all the slowness (the first boat wasn't lowered until an hour after the collision).

  • @Cluedokid25. Hey it was a thought, chill out, you don't know either any more than I do.

  • So many good scenes they cut out from the movie...

  • i love Molly!!

  • U kno what?If Molly had made the boat go back then jack would still be alive!

  • that guy has fucking problems?

molly brown is EPIC, she definitely made the movie

  • "look like a duck with the broken wing" :D

  • Thats actually a really good scene, surprised it wasn't in the film.

  • ...Molly Brown KNEW she could make it...yeah....!

  • There is a big flaw in this scene because the tilt of the ship in each clip are either steeper or practically flat. One minute there pulling away from the side then suddenly there about a few hundred feet away and d deck is going under but just in the last clip d deck was 1 or 2 decks above there heads.

  • @clctitanic you're right, its like the tilt of the ship became 5-10 % steeper in about 10 seconds.

  • Im glad this wasn't in the movie, the way she says "you look like a duck with a broken wing" so casually and shes almost smiling, totally takes away from the panic and urgency of the whole scene.

  • Please tell me if I am wrong here but I read that Molly Brown wanted to go back and get survivors when the ship sank and the bonehead in charge would not do it and in the movies she sits quietly down well in the book she just took over grabbed an oar and told the jerk if he took one step towards her she would throw HIM overboard!! Did anyone else read that?PS they did not find any survivors

  • @ohwell94 It varies depending on your sources whether or not they found survivors but I'm almost positive that they returned to search.

  • This scene is based on fact. The two seamen assigned to boat No. 6 couldn't row for toffee. What kind of a sailor in 1912 can't even row a boat?

  • I think the reason these scenes were deleted, is because it's based on Rose's memories and what she saw, if she didn't see it, then it was deleted, sadly.

  • @mckfrr

So? Rose didn't see "I'm the King of the World," the glass dome breaking, Cal getting in Lifeboat A or Captain Smith's death. The scene was cut because it didn't add to the story.

  • They called her the 'unsinkable' Molly Brown. This apparently wasn't the first ship she survived sinking and no doubt it had something to do with that ' this is what we're gonna do ' attitude. She never let her money or wealth change her personality and character, even to the point of isolating herself in a wealthy society but that trait allowed her to not one but two ships sinking. Truly a remarkable woman.

  • Old Molly was only unsinkable because of the first class ticket the held, had she been a third class passenger more then likely she would now be known as the poor chick that died with all the rest of the poor people that couldn't get a ticket on a lifeboat.

  • Kathy Bates was perfect for the role. I couldn't see anyone else as Margaret 'Molly' Brown.

  • I like her!

  • I want to take an oar and stick it in the asshole of the person who said she should be called "Molly" in the film.

No one, not a soul on that ship, called her Molly. It was Maggie. God, what a movie.

  • molly brown was her name in real life. she was the real deal.

  • She was not called Molly Brown during her own lifetime.

There is no excuse for ignorance on something so simple and obvious. If you don't want to listen to me, at least go and do some reading on *Margaret* Brown.

  • @BarryDennen12 - The ignorance you speak of may be your own, not in the classic sense, but rather your ignorance as to why a filmmaker might make a decision like referring to Maggie/Margaret Brown as Molly Brown. It reasonable to assume that audiences today might not recognize who Margaret or Maggie Brown was, but “Molly Brown” on the other hand is a name most people would recognize as an historical figure. Just a guess, but that’s probably why the powers that be wanted to use the name Molly.

  • ? I don't even know where to start here. It's not ignorance to complain about a glaring inaccuracy in a film that prided itself on being faithful.

I was probably having a bad day when I complained though, because honestly I don't give much of a crap about it at the moment. Haha. It's sheer laziness though. Such a widely seen movie has the opportunity to inform people, instead of backing down to the lowest common denominator. He missed the boat (heh) in several places in that regard.

  • @BarryDennen12- It’s a movie not a documentary, its entertainment first and formost. Now if a documentary couldn't get the facts straight then I could see that being a glaring inaccuracy, but filmmakers always make concessions for its audience. To call it sheer laziness may also be missing the mark; the filmmakers more then likely knew the facts and decided that the audience knowing who she was more important then them trying to inform people of their history. It’s not the history channel.

  • It doesn't occur to you that I already figured out their motivations at the time the movie came out, and simply think that it's a lousy decision?

As I've already told you, it's not a big deal - I probably had some other axe to grind when I wrote my comment, and there are dozens of far more noticeable (and intellectually galling) flaws with the movie. The Maggie/Molly thing is just one of the smaller ones.

  • @BarryDennen12 - No I guess it didn't occer to me you had already figured that out cause your point was that they were just too lazy to do the research, and there is a difference between that and just making the wrong decision thats why I wrote in the first place. I do however agree its a small small point to me, to you it was anything but, it was a glaring inaccuracy remember? Either way, time to move forward, enjoyed the banter Cheers to you, feel free to have the last word.

  • But in history, she was known as the Unsinkable Molly Brown. Molly was a nickname.

  • A nickname that was invented after she was dead.

Why would people in this movie call her Molly when nobody on the ship called her anything but Maggie or Margaret??

  • is a name really so important? surely the rememberance of her character overshadows the simple title of a name.

  • In an ordinary film? Nope, it's not a big deal.

In something that advertises itself as historically worthy, and a movie that's supposed to be extraordinary (and won 11 Oscars because of it), then frankly it is a big deal. They were too busy aping Danielle Steele to get a name right.

  • Giving Margaret the name "Molly" in the film, could have been a way to highlight her character within the movie. As we have seen in the comments, not everyone knew her as Margaret, therefore having the name Molly would bring her into the light of the viewer.

I wouldn't say the name Molly dents the accuracy of the movie. It's made up of fiction and non fiction alike. Some characters were based on real life others weren't. Rose as the main character, to feel the story through her.

  • "I wouldn't say the name Molly dents the accuracy of the movie."

Whether it's justifiable or not is up to the viewer, of course - we all have differing standards!

But facts are not subjective; accuracy isn't something we can agree or disagree on. They used the wrong name and it stuck out.

People can say "the name Molly was more recognisable", but it would've been childishly simple to explain her real name within the space of one line. It'd be conventional wisdom by now.

  • @BarryDennen12 when is the last time you saw the movie when molly brown was 1st menched rose sead [(a lady named margrit brown came abourd titanic but most people called her molly histery calls her the unsicablemolly brown muther calls her whats its called new munny)] ther for the movie never made a mistac so next time you try and act smart do thes 2 things wach the movie u and every 1 eles is talkin about and look up somthing to mack sher u know ur right befor macking a ass out of your self

  • That's funny because I've seen the movie about 20 times and I have the DVD, you stupid cunt.

I don't give a toss what she says before the Molly line, or after. The fact that she says "we all called her Molly" is the problem here. You stupid cunt.

They NEVER CALLED HER MOLLY WHILE SHE WAS ALIVE. End of story.

  • @BarryDennen12 ok yea u know every thing unles u wher on the ship and know for a faked they called her margrit i dont give a shit about u or ur reacerh that u never looked up becous i have wached this movie every day since i was 6 and i am now 15 i never missed a day not even birth days or chrismiss i wached all the comentarys peolpe called her molly not margrit becous she is known as the unskinable MOLLY brown not margrit u dum cunt

  • Stop abusing the English language you worthless turd.

  • @fatkeith20 - unles? wher? faked? reacerh? birth days? chrismiss? peolpe? becous? GOOD GOLLY MISS MOLLY at least you spelled "cunt" correctly. A little less time watching Tetinic, Totonic, Turdmonic,....oh wait ...what is it again? Oh yeah, Titanic (That was a close one) and a lot more time on education might have been advised. I blame the parents, and stop touching yourself.

  • Loads of Molly Brown scenes were cut out, I love this and and another where she asks for ice in her drinks and the iceburg passes.

  • Why would they leave this one out? It's so short!

  • its actually much longer about a minutes. the captain acctualy comes on the deck and tells there lifeboat to come back. the one man refuses.

  • Is Hitchens the same guy who was at the wheel of Titanic when it hit the ice berg??

  • yes:)

  • @titanic7grl how do u have the Deleted Scene becous i have the 10 year anaversry adishon of the filmand i only have a lame altanet ending no deleted seens

  • @fatkeith20 The deleted scenes are on the Three Disc Special Edition DVD. ..and about your statment on Molly Brown, @BarryDennen12 is right. She was called Molly after the sinking thus she was called Margaret on the real Titanic.

  • I think they should of had this scene in the movie becasue I think its very good historical scene. I think that they should of concentrated more on the histoical events than the romance between jack and rose

  • ya i agree.. but the movie is long enough as it is;)

  • @titanic7grl But we probably would've sat through it any way!

  • It also shows how good of a person Molly was.

  • @annekajeremy the movie was historical the only reson jack and rose wher in it was beous he couldint base the main cast off of real people every 1 besids jacks freinds cal rose and her mom or lovejoy wher real people the only reson it was a romance is you cant mack it a comedy or horer can youno u cant every thing besida jack and rose was histericol all the names that wher not main cast wher real names they got sewed from the murdock family for having him shout himself and tommy
