I just started VATSIM and the people are really nice and will help you if you just ask!! It's a great feature I logged about 270 hours before i ever flew online and I missed out on so much. Everyone should fly VATSIM!

I found it annoying, I kept on reinstalling the software needed to connect, never worked and i found out i needed an updated version for vista, i updated and it screwed FSX up where it crashes when you load a mission so i just got rid of it. I think i only connected once in all that time. The ATC system i just dont like, you cant use the FSX ATC so what happens when your on an approach in IFR conditions with no radar vectors, no clearences because ATC is not online there??

my only advice is try to fly where atc is available.

ZLA has a lot of online atc along with new york and atlanta and chicago.

theres a program called vatspy you can use to see where the atc are at.. or you can use unicom 122.800.

I flew on VATSIM a couple of times but the ATC were...impolite so I don't go on it anymore

On VATSIM, when you go to an event, are there actually planes there? Or is it just like a chat area?

Jman, when you go on the network as a pilot and there are other aircraft within 10 miles (adjustable) you will see them just as you would see any other AI traffic.

I controlled MDW_GND on that! OMG THAT'S SO AWESOME!!! lucky... All I get is two monitors and VRC radar scope... gah. lol
