David Coverdale is one of the best singers that ever walked on earth. BUT... He's not a Machine, and he's not 22. I don't care if he sings bad every now and then, and i don't care if he lip sincs. Even sounding bad, he still sings better then 80% os the singers in this planet. And he still more soulful then ANYONE. And if hi lipsincs.. HOW CARES ?? THAT'S HI'S VOICE! He is a real great singer!!
@leppardsnake I love Glenn, but he's singing more and more like Christina Aguilera.I love Trapeeze and the Mark III era, dont let me wrong. Plus, he doesn't tour as much as DC. DC also smokes, and we all know that he had serious problems with his vocal cords. The thing is, people are never satisfied, We all love Zeppelin, but can Plant hit those notes an entire tour? Once again, i don't mind.. actually i hope he come back singing in his low register which is the one i like the most.
@drebatista heard black country communion ? he's about rock again :)
I prefer his rock eras, but I kind of like his funk as well :) and the soul and so on :)
yes he doesnt tour as much perhaps, well today he tours more but for obvious reasons. well DC does not smoke anymore but he used to indeed.. People are never satisfied indeed, no to me coverdale is a much better singer :)
well he is comming to sweden rock festival (I live in Sweden). He will have "special guests" that "will please
@drebatista long-time whitesnake fans" ... It should be real interesting to see who that might be.. people are already speculating.
Glenn Hughes?
Jon Lord?
Marsden? (they've become "friends" again)
John Sykes?
Vai?
Probably not vandenberg because then they wouldnt make so much fuss about it.. he's joined whitesnake on stage every time the've been in the netherlands + it said that it was more than one, it was "guest artists"
@leppardsnake I guess, the guest will be Vandenberg, Glenn wrote on his twitter that he will sing at WS new album. Lord told that he wanted to reunite M3, Blackmore too, but since Whitesnake is releasing a new album....
Coverdale used to be a great singer.....a very long time ago! There's not much left:-/ Shit, Whitesnake used to be great before they turned their back to Europe to win over the US audience, and to do that you have to dress up like a girl and make AOR crap. Sad really!
I also prefer the blues era, but change must eventually occur and the band might have become a bit well.. predictable in regards with the song writing.
And although it to some extent was AOR I dont agree with it being crap :)
well, I think they still are.. this was the last song of the concert... then again, ofc they might not be what they once was.. Yes, glenn is greater than ever!
ps last time I saw David in Glasgow in the Monsters of Rock Tour with Gary Moore etc;; the girls singing Whitesnake lyrics word for word were average age about 19; so could they have been brought up with listening to Whitesnake and love the sound? Maybe I might be biased or appreciative that young kids nowadays realise what music is about - or are they being brainwashed?
listen! his near 60 years old and a voice like this when you are 60 is great. his not 20 any more and i was at this consert and i like his conserts because he bring hes hearth to the people thats why i think people still going on his conserts!:D
Yes. Purple was and still is THE greatest in my world. I just want Coverdale to do what he is best at. Singing rock/blues NOT heavy metal kind of rock. Tune down a bit.
Yeah, you are right. Never thought I would read comments from a fellow Coverdale fan who had to fight their way to prove how good he is! Loved him since I heard him sing Fool for your Lovin as a child. He is the greatest. Accoustic is his acclaim. Starkers in Tokeo is the best. Thanks for your comments I have read.
100% correct, BUT then dont try to sing like you are 25. Imagine Gillan singing Child in Time. Gillan is too clever. Coverdale not, but I wish he was.
Gillan clever?? OK, he sees his limitations.. That means he can't sing child in time, and never dared singing anything from mk3-mk4.. dio songs, hush and so on.. I think Gillans voice is almost gone now.. at least for the old purple "screaming songs"
Why coverdale sings these old, popular songs that are very popular and try to sing them in the same way is because he has many fans of his own age.. He doesn't want to let them or the "new fans" down, he reaches out to everyone!
dio songs, hush and so on.. he did sing, but never mk3-4 'cause of another musical direction mk3-4 had.. what a lie.. burn is more like a gillan song than hush is!
Well, that ain't the right reason. He doesn't sing those songs because of not understanding their meaning, not because of any 'musical directions', that's ridiculous...
where you at the consert? he doesnt sing so many fast songs longer so he his cleaver.and try do dont sing them when you have a crowd who screaming i want burn i want give me all your love to night i want that i want that he know that his voice cant do things like 20 years ago but then again he just doing this for fun because he had his good bye tour 2003. you must look in his mind hes passion is to sing and he is lovin it so i think its hard for him!
Great, BUT this is David Coverdale with 50% of his old voiuce and some people playing for him. This is NOT Whitesnake. Whitesnake died in 1987. I'm sure DC could do MUCH better with a sound that fits his grat (at times) voice. Not this American sh... Still he is grat when he is not screaming, but just sings.
I hope that you do know that whitesnake has recorded 3 studio albums since then... And some may not see 87-whitesnake as the old whitesnake, but whitesnake is dc's band..
89 - Slip of the tongue
97 - Restless heart (was gonna be released as DC solo)
08 - Good to be bad.. In nov it was namned rock album of the year!!
Dont get me wrong. I love Coverdale since his first concert with Purple (I was there !!!). Since then I have been on tour with Whitesnake when I worked with ET Concerts in Scandinavia. My problem is that hi has lost the Whitesnake sound to just another US heavy sound. I got ALL his LP, singles, CDs, videos and DVDs. To me he has no future with this kind of rock. He cant sing it. It's playback and backing singers far to often. Someone get him back on track so 2009 will be the year of real WS.
the interesting thing is that you say that whitesnake died in 1987. Sure, I as many fans, prefer whitesnake 1978-1984. But whitesnake didn't die, it changed. And it was still popular in europe+japan but in 1987 became popular in US as well. So the '1987 whitesnake sound' has established itself in the world, everywhere.. So, perhaps your-then image of whitesnake died and you got dissapointed. But it finally got coverdale the US - recognizition that he deserved, as far as I am concerned!
Never a truer word has been spoken; I was too young to remember Purple; but you are right obviously Whitesnake have changed; but the Coverdale fans who grew to love him know he has never changed.....Yeah, America gave him tight leather suits and blonde highlights and a georgous wife; apart from that? Nothing new!!!! Seen Coverdale twice recently; his looks have obviously changed; but the voice will never change. ps Hate his new teeth tho!
Do me and you a favour; people with attitude; ask them to purchase "Starkers in Tokeo" and watch it on YOUTUBE Coverdale is professional. Hate to say it - my(although NOT) the other great frontman is Paul Rogers fronting Queen; but looking at your address you like Def Leppard; BRIL CHOICE OF MUSIC AND FRONTMAN. You are great. Bril.....
I recognize coverdales voice. David can still sing! It's combined with backing vocals, yes, but david does most of the singing.. And for that matter, Glenn Hughes has always (with Purple) done the high-pitched parts. Unfortunately I missed recording the first verse, but you can look at another burn clip from stockholm, and see that he definately sings the first verse. And in this clip you can hear that he is singing the second and third verse. David Coverdale still rocks!!!
well actually this was when he'd (and whitesnake) had been touring for a long while and it was the last song, but I still think he sang great on ALL songs. It's only naturual that his voice isn't what it was 35 years ago, but to call it shot would be to exaggerate I think!
Omfg!!! han kastade plektrumet till min kompis! som tråkigt nog inte har världens bästa bollkänsla så hon missade den xD och en annan tjej fångade den istället. Såg de idag i GBG. All i can say is <33333333
Solo being butchered oh no!!!!!!.....please put handcuffs on Dough...just can't bear it anymore!!!!!

he, is a real great singer, indeed!
