I love the 2307 Concord, but I am not sure what version Concord this is? It is identical to the 2307, with my favorite features as Touch Tempo and the Arpeggiator. I think 2300 series Concord was the best sounding Hammond organs!
@Hamaround I have my Leslie 705 & 2 540's hooked up to my Wurlitzer 625t currently because I've yet to get my Elegante ( 81') out of my storage. Don't mind really, as I have in one 10X10 unit 5 organs I play there anytime I want & the owner doesn't mind. Completely by coincidence this new management is the family of our cities largest organ store. I have in this one unit a Wurli 4410, Wurli 4300, Elegante, Wurli series 31, and Gulbransen Rialto II. All set up to play & work on.
@101pastor - There are always a Hammond or two for sale on E-Bay, a used Concorde should sell for well under $2,000. I bought mine in Ohio several years ago from a Vintage Hammond store for $1.700.00. Good Luck!
@101pastor I am offering my 1946 Wurlitzer Series 31 Electrostatic reed organ to any church for free. I'm also considering giving my Wurlitzer 4500 to a church. Both are very serious organs that have an amazing tone and in my opinion are the perfect 'small church' organs. I'm in Columbus Ohio so it might be quite a hull for anyone coming to get one. The 4500 needs a few minor repairs, but in a sense Wurlitzer Organ Co. is still going strong- Morelock's Wurlitzer Parts in MISS. send me PM for #
@101pastor Check your messages by clicking your name and selecting 'messages' from the drop down menu. I am sending you a letter w/ my phone number. I cannot assist in any transport except into your vehicle and you will need to secure a technician on your end who knows how to repair organs. Actually any electronic tech can handle the electronic repairs on either of these two organs ( see other message) if they have the proper service manuals. The Series 31 esp. needs new electrolytic capacitors.
The Hammond 2307 was my favorite Hammond, besides the X-77 and Elegante of the early 1980's. Just after Thomas was shut down, Lawrence started using the Elegante organ on his show.
Actually since my comment a couple of months ago I'm not so sure I was accurate about the Elegante not sounding as good as a Concorde. Still not sure to be honest and I'm sure to get a clear response from someone with experience on both organs might be difficult as tone is often subjective.
@Hamaround Since that 5 days ago I responded to a Craigslist ad for a super nice Hammond Elegante. Thought I'd stand a snowballs chance of getting it, but appaerntly I was the only one to respond to his email address over his telephone info. My cell phone ran out of minutes ( yes, us po'folk still get by cheaper with minutes) and so I had to email. Well guess what? His phone number was wrong, so I got the organ. Yippie! My advice is to keep trying for the organ you want. Elegantes sound good too
@paulj0557 The Concorde was introduced to the public in 1972 when it was still the real Hammond company. When Hammond went out of business in 1975 the Suzuki company bought the "Hammond" name. All organs built after 1975 were no longer Hammonds, but Suzuki with their own design. Although the Elegante closely resembled the Concorde in appearance, the Elegante was loaded with more features. However, there was something about the Elegante using LSI chips that the original Concorde didn't have.
@Oldlionel Hmm...are you sure Suzuki bought Hammond as far back as 75'? I know that on the Composer series of the 80's they were made in Japan and were much cheaper cabinets. Overall a much crappier organ IMO. My 81' Elegante that I picked up a couple of months ago is a very extensive instrument. The tibia/flute draw bar tones are accurate. In fact, if the percussion didn't have attack on every note, & there were 9 contacts per key I'm sure the majority of players would think it was a TW organ.
@Oldlionel Not really, when Hammond went out of business in 1975 operations were sold to The Mormon Group Inc. owned by the Pritzker family of Chicago. They continued to manufacture Hammonds in Chicago until 1986 when they sold to Hammond Organ of Australia, Suzuki took over in 1991 moving operations to Japan.
@Oldlionel - Actually the Concorde was the first Hammond console to implement LSI (large scale integrated circuit) technology to replace the mechanical tonewheel generators. I used to sell and service them and at first it was a real nightmare.
@101pastor I'd say look on Craigslist for one. Organs are very arbitrary, but very abundant. The supply exceeds the demand by far AND every organ over 20 years old can have the fairly inexpensive to repair- electrolytic capacitors go bad in the power supply. It is not uncommon for an older organ to sit dormant for years and when the owner shows it to potential buyers it performs fine ( there's that word),but after 5-10 hours of play the caps finally go pop! Like a grannies old tires
Nice to actually play the organ in this video, instead of the photo slides. You do have the Lenny Dee style on this song. I think you would be a great baseball orgainist. Just my opinion.
@patsaxon Mine is a 2312 with touch tempo and appeggiator, never use them, but I did play around with them a bit when I first got the organ. As far as the X66 and X77 never played an X66 but played and repaired several X77s.
I love the sounds of the Hammond X-66 that I used to hear at the old Fabulous Forum where the L.A. Lakers and Kings used to play. Does the Concorde produce the same sounds? My favorite is the "chime" effect. Did you or can you make a video of a song that features that voice effect, as well as others from an X-66? I guess the X-77 did pretty much the same thing as the X-66? Thanks!
@koasterkav - The X-66 is a hybrid combining LSI electronic and upper octave tone wheel generators while the Concorde is fully electronic and has no tone wheels. It was the first total LSI (large scale integrated circuit) console organ Hammond built.
Haha! Really dorky song, but good job on the keys. I have a Fuji S1500 camera, and I'm very happy with it. I'm thinking about getting a Fuji FinePix S250EXR this summer.
Great song and playing! I like the sound of this organ very much, but sadly the audio of the video is a little bit overdrived (i hope this is the correct term). Even so, thanks a lot for sharing!
I fear the tiny mic in the camera just can't handle the sound the old Concorde pumps out; sadly neither can my neighbors at times. Thanks for your comment; I do however have a few ideas that might improve the sound!

Why do the Hammond Concorde's sound better than the Elegante's? Did they do something different to the tone generating circuits?
paulj0557 7 months ago
@paulj0557 - Not sure there are so many variables and I am certain some people would disagree. I guess it's all in the ear of the beholder LOL!
