When I blindfolded my mother and had her listen to the first five seconds of this song, she not only knew what band and what song it was, but also which performance.
correct 85-87' you actually see bobby (on the playin' in the band part ) go through at least 2 guitars. The custom modulus" Ace " and then the later jackknife, maybe even the casio/ jackknife....Although his shirt doesn't change (lol )
love this song, especially this version. im the only one in my high school who likes the grateful dead, and im GRATEFULly DEADicated. i also saw the dead on 5-5-09, absolutely phonemoenal.
I love how they used old historical photos & videos, even if some of the images are haunting. The ones in "Uncle John" & "Playing" really had an impact on me growing up (and still do), far more than any history lesson...wonder if kids now can get that effect, or if the lack of fancy presentation/graphics detracts from it too much.
NOT 87....... 85 maybe 86 before the coma. Jerry took on a different look after coma of 86.. His playing was Grateful after coma and it KICKED ASS after coma but somehow it was VERY different.. He somehow did not have the EASE. WE love you Jerry.
@MrRichardFader- then put together a "professional" one, ungrateful person

Deffinately not 1987. Jerry's hair was a lot more grey and Brent got a new keyboard in 87, thank god

@roflcookies I actually kinda like the sound of this keyboard...
yeah it's a bit artificial, but doesn't pierce my brain like butcher knives
like the Kurzweil... oh well it's still a matter of taste.

I'm pretty sure this was actually filmed in 1985. I think they started the project that year, finished it in 87.
