  • @MrRichardFader- then put together a "professional" one, ungrateful person

  • MrRichardFader- then why dont you put together a "professional" one.

  • the "throwing stones" on this is also killer

  • VERY sweet

  • its def 85

  • When I blindfolded my mother and had her listen to the first five seconds of this song, she not only knew what band and what song it was, but also which performance.

  • watched this whole show years ago.....on pbs.........love you guys!!!!rukind?

  • I believe it's New Years 1985 into 1986. R.I.P. Jerry and Brent.

  • this is from "So Far".. nice version

  • def.'85

  • The editing is amateurish.

  • I had the vhs tape. No more, and havent seen this for YEARS. This and the Lady with the Fan part are great

  • correct 85-87' you actually see bobby (on the playin' in the band part ) go through at least 2 guitars. The custom modulus" Ace " and then the later jackknife, maybe even the casio/ jackknife....Although his shirt doesn't change (lol )

  • i watched this all the time back in the day. i stii have the vhs tape

  • it's true: all good singers grow a beard !!

  • i'm agreeing with patches...'85 probably

  • killer version of a classic!

  • this is 85

  • love this song, especially this version. im the only one in my high school who likes the grateful dead, and im GRATEFULly DEADicated. i also saw the dead on 5-5-09, absolutely phonemoenal.

  • @outtamyway2 ya man same here i waer dead shirts and people dont even know about them. i seen them 5-7-09 Denver

  • im the only one in my high school who likes GD music....im GRATEFULly DEADicated

  • Another classic GD tune...and an impressive video. Nobody could do it like they could. Thanks for the post.

  • good sound quality.

  • Excellent and remarkable video.

  • I love how they used old historical photos & videos, even if some of the images are haunting. The ones in "Uncle John" & "Playing" really had an impact on me growing up (and still do), far more than any history lesson...wonder if kids now can get that effect, or if the lack of fancy presentation/graphics detracts from it too much.

  • NOT 87....... 85 maybe 86 before the coma. Jerry took on a different look after coma of 86.. His playing was Grateful after coma and it KICKED ASS after coma but somehow it was VERY different.. He somehow did not have the EASE. WE love you Jerry.

  • Deffinately not 1987. Jerry's hair was a lot more grey and Brent got a new keyboard in 87, thank god

  • @roflcookies I actually kinda like the sound of this keyboard...

yeah it's a bit artificial, but doesn't pierce my brain like butcher knives

like the Kurzweil... oh well it's still a matter of taste.

  • I'm pretty sure this was actually filmed in 1985. I think they started the project that year, finished it in 87.
