I got around it, easy. The normal wikipedia page loads, then is covered by a splash screen. The normal page is under it. I get around it by loading the page up, but clicking the stop load button in the browser before the splash screen is loaded. Normal Wikipedia appears!

I have another way of getting around it Graham, On my pc. You go to the spanish version and you should get a pop up saying translate to your language, and it still works all the same. just a little more effort.
