I have an LJX36C that I am very proud of. Only the 26 and 36 models are hand made to this high level. The 6 and 16 are built using less superior wood and not quite as much attention to detail but are still very nice sounding instruments. The sound of these guitars was so nice that once I heard the 6 I just had to hear the 36. Very proud I did.
Are All the L series made in the same place. I know the LL6 is made in Hangzhou China. Was this the same factory. What I am interested in knowing is where is the LL16 made and is it very similar to what was displayed on this video. Aside from that , thanks, very interesting tour and good to see the care taken to produce these wounderful guitars
guys, stop marking comments as spam just because u don't like what the person has to say. If someone says something negative about the USA it's their right. Ever heard of free speech? If u claim to be a "true american" (whatever that means), and censor someone, that flies in the face of what the USA was originally about, and makes you an ignorant asshole.
i couldn't decide between an ls16 or a martin d-1 or d-16gt but i think i'm going for yamaha since it's more affordable and is made out of all solid woods.
Although I'm a huge fan of Tilbrook, it's difficult to take this video seriously when you see him on stage with a Taylor and featuring in their brochure too!
@phoenixforce22 thats a rather humorous statement, if japan is doing something better and more affordably than america, buy the japanese one, that is how capitalism works!
@phoenixforce22 unfortunately, american guitar companies (as well as other american markets) make it very hard for most people to purchase their instruments due to rediculously bloated prices. You pay as much for a decent american instrument as you would for a decent used work vehicle. People who have made their own guitars know that it is unnecessary to price them so high to make a decent profit. Breedlove is one american company who understands this, though. But I'm not a big fan.
@mcneely2818 In the case of the guitar market, the difference is that Yamaha has not change a bit on what they represent that is a true passion for quality and sound regardless of greed.......just like the saying do what you love in life and money will come by itself........instead of let's get money regardless of what we love in life..............It is understood the financial part is important but...in acoustic guitars you get what you paid for no longer a fact....unless it is a Yamaha
I have one LL36 model ! Manufactured in december 2004 ! It's a very great guitar . On incredible tonal deep . On incredible ton power . This guitar is a must in the guitar world . Thanks Yamaha Custom Shop ...(5*****)
I thought it was stupid how that British douche kept attempting to make parts of the guitar and then fell on his face. But its probably accurate, the British can't make anything well.
your a dumb arse american cunt all your country does is MAKE a fucking mess in countrys you arent welcome or entitled to be in. fuck off learn humility ya fucking twat
this are their made in japan handcrafted guitars so that means Lx26 & 36 and up. they start at around $2700 or so...
the Lx6 and 16 are made in china... they're a lot cheaper... if anyone wants one get the LL, LJ or LS 16 rather than the 6 model cause the 16s are all solid wood models... they retail at around $750...
are the L16 series made in japan or china? i wish they also made the left hand in the S model as well. it boggles my mind why they only make the L16 in a lefty.
I really ought to get one of these. I've seen them at Yamaha stores and they're really pretty. And they're a lot cheaper than similar quality guitars from other brands.
My Yamaha LL36 Guitar have a great song , a wonderful look . It's the must for any styles . I play all day . I have funny happy with this "magical" instrument . Tank Custom shop Hamamatsu . Congratulation...J.B.
I just bought an LLX6 yesterday. Was looking at the FG700s because they're cheaper but the LLX6 just blew them out of the water with it's fantastic sound, so I had to get it.
Interesting video. I am a great admirer of Yamaha instruments. The quality of finishing is always superb. Maybe one day I'll be able to afford an L series guitar but for the moment I have just bought a new Yamaha FG700MS for about £100 and I am really chuffed with it, the tone range is the best I've ever experienced and what I like most is the way it responds to all the little inflections and nuances in my playing (it makes me sound much better than I acually am!). Clever technology !
I have an LJ6, the lowest end of the new L-Series but I love it. Great tone, great feel, all around great guitar. Got it for around $500 in 2007 (probably built in 2006). The lower end L-Series though aren't handcrafted in Japan though, they're handcrafted in Taiwan.
I have a LL500, beautiful sounding guitar, but it stays in it's case most of the time. I also have a FG432s which I play every day & a couple of other FGs which I don't play much. I gave a FG410 to my daughter & that lives with her. It's the cheapest guitar I've ever owned, costing me £20 fifteen years ago, but it's still my favourite one to play by a long way.
I have a handcrafted L-25A that was manufactured in 1981 and I've owned for over 25 years. This guitar just gets better with age. Comparing the sound of this guitar with new Martins, Gibsons, Larrivees and Taylors, my old Yamaha can hold its own very well indeed. I will never part with her!
Me too...bought mine in 1984. Guy in the shop said that Yamaha was buying the wood from the same place Martin was at the time. Sitka spruce top, Mahogany back and sides,Indian Rosewood fingerboard and bridge...Just keeps getting better
I got a FG700 too. Solid top, flawless construction and only under $200 bucks. Not the L handcraft series but it definitely rocks! Yamaha made quality guitars.
FG700, awesome balance in tone, great resonance, unbelievably cheap, it was like $300 less than i thought it would be, although the action isnt as good as it can be, its an awesome guitar for any intermediate player
plastic nut and saddle. Just bought secondhand LL400, and very pleased. Tho I was surprised to find it has plastic nut and saddle. thinkin of changin for bone. interested to hear your opinion thx chezruss
They're great guitars, but they're not without their problems. In particular, their one piece necks coupled with their deep truss rod pockets equals a disaster waiting to happen. When I did repair work I could have lived off broken Gibson headstocks alone.
yeah that is very true, but unless u knock ur guitar around alot the gibson necks are actually very stable. so as long as u respect ur instrument it shouldn't fall apart on you so easily... thanks for de reply 2. =]
Great guitars, I have a LJ6 which is the lower end of the L seriies and is made in Taiwan. Very easy to play and sounds great, not the loudest but warm and detailed with good seperation of notes and sustain to match even taylor. Overall i`d say bargain.

Proud new owner of an L-series Yamaha. I thought my FG sounded beautiful, and it does, but these are truly amazing, visually and aurally.

Really cool to see. THough, I can't really understand how they can call their guitars handmade.
hjerthinfarkht 1 month ago
@ryantmz True. All of the FG series, as well as the L-6/L-16 series are made in China. The quality is still outstanding.

it really is a + for yamaha that they didnt build a factory on other asian countries.
check the Cort brand for instance and their action in north korea.
plus i heard yamaha quality and all i want to see is about the action..
