  • Awesome video!

  • The UK version was also edited out. Still remember the game plot, war over "fossil fuels". Then it was "global warming" then "oil in Iraq". And its always the Americans that seem to go on about it or are mentioned most.

Why edit out a political man shooting himself? Because it reminds you what types are in charge of your life. When it gets too much for them, they sod off via political arguments and votes.

Looked like the game was "pro war". Well I'm anti war. Don't know about them CoD lot tho.

  • Didn't stop me at the time from finishing the game though.

  • i have european cybernator cartridge - and this version have suicide on the end!?!?

  • BTW, that little suicide sequence near the end makes the part of the ending where Jake randomly recalls something said by the "president" make a whole lot more sense. Really a sub-par localization on the whole, though sadly not uncommon for the time.

  • Thanks for the video. Playing through it now, compared to when I did originally, I see all the similarities to Mobile Suit Gundam. Unfortunately, the game was changed visually because A) Companies were very gunshy about anime character imagery back then, and also didn't think Americans would like more dialog B) Nintendo of America censored the hell out of things back then.

  • @Staeilis That's because you probably got the European version.

  • alot of us versions where gutted like Super souble dragon a whole level was removed!

  • The European version has character's picture like the Japanese version and the dialog in English just like the U.S. version.

  • Leave it to the US to come up with a name like Cybernator. Stupidest name of all time. Assault Suits Valken was such a rad name.

  • there is a translated rom version of Assault Suits Valken (I dunno who did the translation) I have it if you want, just give me your e-mail. (I dunno the ending, I suck at the game.)

  • 5:37

European Union symbol in the background. WTH?

  • @VenomFrogX

The enemy country in this game is Russia and EU.

  • Dunno if anyone else has mentioned this yet, but I also noticed that in the Japanese version there is no flame emmitting from the Assault Suit's back when doing a boosted jump. Also the boss doesn't flash white when hit, and the explosions when the bottom part of the boss falls off are a bit glitchier.

  • it's probably something to do with the frame rate of the captured video or the emulator. I just played the game and the flashing and engine boost is still there.

  • konami phucked up!!!!

    big time.

  • @killthecat666 not Konamie's fault, nintendo of america chose what went into the games on the SNES. (they called teh NOA code)

  • GREAT GAME!!

    5 STARS

  • i loved Cybernator i never knew of the differences, thanks for sharing :)

  • That games is tough but cool.

  • Heh, I got a rare US version of the game were it showed the character's face, the animation, and so on except for that part in the ending, and the secret ending. What does the secret ending say?

  • Same here; my version also had faces.

  • A fading transmission was warning that something from outer space was coming.

  • That's what I hate about the U.S.! We just cant stand the Japanese being better than us! I like Japan better because you get GOOD games over there while we here in the U.S. get SHITTY games made by American,Canadian, European and Australian game developers!

  • Whos the fag who thought

(Duh we should take out the pictures)

  • Big difference: the girl's name:

クレア is more accurately translated as "Clair" or "Claire", not "Crea", even though a direct translation would be "kurea"

And now I know that people's names are in katakana (doh). If anyone finds a comment with a name in hirigana (i.e.: "くれあ"), respond to it and I'll go fix it.

  • Well I didn't wanna go far into the differences of the games. I just wanted to focus on the games; language differences is minor to me. Seriously, Japanese is my fav language; it's so cool you know the language.

  • I don't know it yet, only bits and pieces. I'm learning Japanese. I'm getting close to fluent in manga sound effects, but that's about it.

  • Thanks for this video, nice job ! Valken is one of my favorite games ! Golden times of gaming !

  • if u go on emuparadise, the ROM 4 this game

has a lot of stuff from valken 4 some reason

like the chatacter portraits and possibly the secret ending

  • Alright team, let's take out this scene where a man commits suicide even though this game features themes such as war and killing.

  • lol good point.....

  • They really butchered the port of this game... what genius decided "HEY! WE SHOULD TAKE OUT ALL THE CHARACTER GRAPHICS FOR NO REASON! YEAH!" and they censored several of the best plot points for us "soft americans".

  • @MetroidSR388vr Okay, so how is that a butchered port? Because they took out a few plot elements? Removed the facial graphics? Because they took out the suicide scene? You have to remember, back then video games were still geared towards kids back in the SNES days. Nintendo was strict about that shit. Now, if the game suffered the Castlevania: Dracula X treatment, THAT would be a butchered port. As it stands, Cybernator is one of the most underrated games in SNES history.

  • @chosentonessournotes

yep hence the other reason why Poison in Final Fight was dubbed in personal background as a "she man" for U.S. standards. nes didnt like the idea of women getting beat up in games when that game came about in american consoles. But yeh suicide in that original cybernator version makes sense. i remember my jaw dropping when i saw what really happened in that import in an EGM mag in HS saying wow wtf?? lol

  • localisation does not mean censorship. In this case they probably just said to themselves, "Do we really need to translate all these bits? nah... fukkit"

  • I dearly want to have the PS2 version of this game.

  • Great Video!!

Wish I knew what was being said....

  • Im american and assault suit valken sounds better and far more interesting than cybernator...so whats the point of the name's change?

  • Seriously. They also changed Super Aleste to Space Megaforce...yecch. It sounds like some arcade game from the early 80s.

  • Reminds me of Metal Warriors

  • Metal Warriors used this as a basis for their game. . .it was American made.

  • No character pictures=inexusable and sloppy for US version!

  • It's much better without them.

  • because u can't handle all that information while playing that game?

  • DOING THE NAPALM TRICK TWICE.

  • this was an aewsome game

  • some guy shot himself...

    wtf

  • not bad at all for a first one! Congrats, very nicely done.

  • Awesome! I got the European version. They do show the dialogue images, but the same scenes seem to be cut out as in the US version.

I`ll try to translate the ending:

.....this is the outer space exploration corps...please respond...

..we are..outer space exploration corps..answer please...

It repeats again, then it is silent.

  • Outer space exploration corps is the enemy who appears in Target earth.

They were deserted by the earth.

  • ok I am confused, who were the space exploration corps.

I just played the english patched rom and it has all of that but I turned it off after the scores were shown

  • very interesting...lol i wanna play now

  • Great video!! really well put together well done sir :) and i never knew tht 0_0

  • Well that's interesting comparison^^ - Funny ending too
