I don't know who this is but she needs to concentrate on singing background..she can't lead solo...no stage presence and the delivery was quite monotone...uninteresting but not to negate...she can sing just maybe not solo...

She already released her CD almost a year ago. Your "constructive criticism" is not constructive, which makes me question your abilities as a choir director. As a musician myself, I feel qualified to completely disagree, even insult, your opinion because I feel that it is unfounded and untrue. Monotone delivery? Your comment not only makes me question your qualifications, but also your hearing.

Critical thinking+better listening skills...Yep, I'll thank my college degree from one of the top choral music schools in the country. A school that has a choral tradition MUCH different from the type of music Doolittle sings, and yet I can still appreciate her music. If you have an opinion, and know that it's not a fact, then you shouldn't act like you know what's best as far as Doolittle's career. Way to throw around music terms like "alto" and "contralto"--terms anyone could have looked up.

I still can't believe they cut Paula. This show won't be the same without the original 3 judges. No disrespect to Ellen but Paula was nice and supportive and a mess at the same time. Plus the contestants were really honored by her compliments because they know she was once an Idol herself unlike any of the other judges. JMO.

being a good singer is highly appreciated. stick her in making the band or something and you'll see the difference when Laurie Anne choreographs her and when its photo shoot time. when u actually have her in direct competition with star quality females she doesn't compare. She'd never beat someone like Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Jessica Simpson because she's a one lane girl...Fantasia had swag tho so I feel her and Kelly were the best idols when it came to legitimacy in the industry

Melinda puts so much feeling into Home... I come back often to hear it and every time I am Moved. Ican't give more praise to this great artist than that.
One more thing. CDs are terrific. Melinda should always be on DVD. For me music with out good enunciation is devalued. Because Melinda has this Wonderful gift of interacting with an audience - SEEING her perform adds EVEN MORE to her performance...!!!
I've never bought into the whole "Diana Ross is an incredible singer" thing. She's good, sure; do you really think she could have won this competition if she were on it today? I don't. Her voice isn't very dynamic and I have personally never enjoyed watching her sing live. Don't get me wrong, I like Diana and I like her music a lot; I just think there are whole heck of a lot of singers that can dance circles around her.
I think Diana is a great singer. Yes, she doesn't have power. But she has a pretty tone that conveys emotion well. Especially when she was young, her voice was so clear and pure. Her voice has deepened as she's aged so her live singing is hit&miss now. But she still has great stage presence to cover it up.

Sleek310....??? Are you kidding me? This girl can SANG doesn't matter what you thiknk her beauty is. She exudes confidence and doesn't use immodesty to to make up for her vocal performance. I would put her next to ANYONE, this girl is GENUINE. Genuine vocals, poise, confidence etc.

being a good singer is highly appreciated. stick her in making the band or something and you'll see the difference when Laurie Anne choreographs her and when its photo shoot time. when u actually have her in direct competition with star quality females she doesn't compare. She'd never beat someone like Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Jessica Simpson because she's a one lane girl...Fantasia had swag tho so I feel her and Kelly were the best idols when it came to legitimacy in the industry

OMG you are most stubborn lol. Thats not what I was meaning....just stating she isnt not talented. In her early days she shined and into the 70 and 80's, but then her voice changed and couldnt sing as she did. Grant it she didnt sound like Ella, or my fav Sarah, or Babs, or even Whiteny, but she did have ehr own sound and held a tune, and well, she certainly became rich over it. Then again so did Britney lol.

Plenty.....in the early days her voice was well received...when she got older, into late 80's-90's, it became scratchy...but thats what happens with many when they age...you obviously dont have an ear fpr music....ever hear her in lady Sings The Blues? All her Supremes hits? I think not.

Wow, let's not go talking about my ear for music. Diana Ross has always had a decent voice, but she's never regarded as a vocalist. Melinda Doolittle should be giving HER training. Her vocal talent doesn't lead me to believe that she can guide others.

I never said Diana Ross had a bad voice or couldn't sing. All I wanted to know was why she was selected to give voice lessons because there are much better singers who could have taken her place. Tina Turner, Gladys Knight, Patti Labelle, etc. I understand they may not have been able to make it, and that Diana Ross's celebrity was a requirement, but still.

I stopped watching American Idol after this particular season. It was clearly obvious the show is not about the most talented. If it where, Melinda Doolittle with no doubt would have won. I was pissed.

Well Randy... all Melinda's AI music was exceptionally good. In fact GREAT.
Melinda puts so much feeling into Home... I come back often to hear it and every time I am Moved. Ican't give more praise to this great artist than that.
One more thing. CDs are terrific. Melinda should always be on DVD. For me music with out good enunciation is devalued. Because Melinda has this Wonderful gift of interacting with an audience - SEEING her perform adds EVEN MORE to her performance...!!!

I've never bought into the whole "Diana Ross is an incredible singer" thing. She's good, sure; do you really think she could have won this competition if she were on it today? I don't. Her voice isn't very dynamic and I have personally never enjoyed watching her sing live. Don't get me wrong, I like Diana and I like her music a lot; I just think there are whole heck of a lot of singers that can dance circles around her.

I think Diana is a great singer. Yes, she doesn't have power. But she has a pretty tone that conveys emotion well. Especially when she was young, her voice was so clear and pure. Her voice has deepened as she's aged so her live singing is hit&miss now. But she still has great stage presence to cover it up.
