An inspirational song, that I accidentally stumbled upon when I needed it the most! No words can express the gratitude I feel for the singer and the thoughts behind this song. No matter what the circumstances are we have got life and soul and smile :)
Real music like this is still made. They just don´t show it anymore. The guys who ´have it all´ know that it could make mankind to wake the fuck up. I live this song, and nobody is ever gonna take it away.
For those of you who do not know about Nina Simone, this song is about owning the one thing that noone can take away from you. Yourself. It is about owning who you are and what you do.
Platz 1 lily the Pink von den Scafold. (Paul Mc Gartney s Bruder) 2 te. Hugo Montenegro mit The God, the Bad and the ugly. Platz 4 - Foundatins mit Buid me up buttercup.
for me it doesnt matter, maybe it is about slavery. i just did listen to it today and I knew it is my song for now, soundtrack of this shitty summer...
tip: look out for mimi mongo on youtube and listen to this lady! i don´t know what she`s talking about - but how - thank you for the music
That's not a nice way to talk to strangers. There are always more interpretations to music. One can say what a song is about, but rarely what a song is not about. I'm sure she had more than one song about black slavery.
It could be taken that all she has is her body -- as would a slave. This song is a medley from the musical Hair, where the songs are about black slavery. Also, this was recorded after she switched to Dutch Philips, a benchmark point in her stand against racial inequality.
WE HAVE LIFE!

This song is from the musical "Hair." Nina's version is the best in that she makes it her very own.
