They're so unique. Their bodies slant downward at the end like a german shepherd, they have the same nose as a bear but the shape of their face, their eyes and ears are different. I think they're cute and I love 'em!

@armymom20 "in Alabama" I think you might have some problems there. Unless you are a licensed wildlife rehabilitator, you will have a hard time adopting one of these creatures. They are dangerous apex predators, and require intense care. Start with cats and work up from there.
I mean, wild animals are just wild animals. It's the same kind of thing with dogs. I wouldn't go near a dog that I don't know, in case it is not used to humans or untrained. But Dragon clearly is used to people, so I would cautiously approach it with a professional nearby if I wanted to pet it.

When I worked with wolves I had the same love with the ones I was a handler for. I really do miss it. It's an experience that can't be put into words unless you've been that close to an animal... that if it didn't love you... could hurt you immensely.

@JamesHatake Actually, they're feliformia (cat-like), meaning they're related to mongoose and the likes.
So actually, they are closer related to cats. They're a lot smarter than dogs, having shown to be able to understand human behavioural languages as well as dog, plus the females are always the dominant gender in their family groups (and even have a penis-like genital appendage to match).

@JamesHatake They are in the suborder, Feliformia, within the order Carnivora and includes cats (large and small), hyenas, mongooses, civets and related taxa. They are definitely unique, but if had to be related to something it would be large cats (as opposed to canines).

When I worked with wolves I had the same love with the ones I was a handler for. I really do miss it. It's an experience that can't be put into words unless you've been that close to an animal... that if it didn't love you... could hurt you immensely.

I never really thought of hyenas as pets. In my head they were, like, huge predators who hunt to kill and stuff. These two of yours are so cute and I adore them already! :D

They're so sweet. But also terrifying if you're alone in the bush at night!! I love AND fear them. We always did, in the African bush where I grew up as an Mzungu Mswahili..
